From round 10 onwards (when you take out the injury game he had) he averaged upwards of 105+ so could be a sneaky pod
Mid-Fwd eligible so helps with swings. Coming in at $478k could be a bargain for what he can actually do.

Discuss.

Gigantor

I would consider him if the top forwards were rock solid.

Guys like Menegola, Greene, Billings, Buddy, JJK all have some risk involved so I'm not really keen on also taking the punt on Walters.

I will leave the forward risks to cheaper guys like Ah Chee and Bundy

Yeah fair enough. I can see potential in running something like
- Billings, Walters, McLean, Barlow in the forward line since they will all get midfield time. I've started to jump off the 510k+ forwards since I can't see any of them bar Franklin (even he is speculative since he is a KPF) still being in the top 6.

JJK has an injury so i'm steering clear of that (and he is KPF).

Menegola's average dropped from 100+ to somewhere around 80 when both Selwood and Dangerfield were in the side so if you add Ablett into the mix I just can't see it.

Greene mark my words will get suspended this year he is just too unstable.

Heeney will probably be top 6 but has an interrupted preseason so will probably be an upgrade target

Another advantage is that you know these players will drop whereas players around the 460-500k range basically only have room to grow

Walters is only any good if he gets time through the middle. There's lots of value in the forwards this year but I think he's too risky

Money Shot

I mentioned him a thread early but someone said that he was no guarantee for midfield minutes with the likes of Brayshaw and Cerra coming through. Now he is as close as a guarantee to midfield minutes as you can get and averaged 103 from round 3 onwards.

I have been so set on Heeney, Greene, Billings combo for so long now though so it is hard to see them leaving my side.

If he is a genuine pod come round 1 I would consider him but feel as though he could be picked by a fair few people now, especially if he looks the goods in the JLT.

shaker

Nah wildly inconsistent expect that to continue again this year better value more consistent players than him

PassivePenguin

Yeah if I was going with the Set and Forget route then Heeney, Greene, Billings would be my picks for elite forwards. Walters would be a pick if you want something like an extra 50k for another line (turn a Naitanui into a Jacobs for example). And from the video Fyfe resting forward as a KPF could mean Walters will slot right in the midfield. He is already dangerous as a forward and he will be looking for minutes  in the midfield after the year he had last year.

Lyon would be crazy not to give some minutes in the midfield :o but haven't we already seen Lyon's insanity first hand

He'll never be a full-time midfielder. His class and composure in tight is immense when he goes through there but he's also one out of about 3 players on our list capable of kicking 35+ goals in a season. Unless he has games like Rd 15 (32 disposals and 6 goals) every week then it really is robbing Peter to pay Paul.

I'd expect him to rotate through there a fair bit which means he'll have his share of 120+ scores, but I'd also expect games where he sits in a pocket and scores 40, ultimately finishing with an average of around 85 (not top 10 worthy).

Same boat as Papley, gotta wait to see what's his role is.

enzedder

Rollercoaster.
Unbelievable against the Saints and almost singlehandedly got them over the line in a 170+ game. Had a run of great scores before injury but also guilty of quiet games. Copped a tag in some games and if played purely as a forward he isn't as attractive.
He could score anything from 45-175.
In a recent afl.com video/interview he said he is hopeful of getting a run through the middle. Fyfe has also said similar. Trouble is he reeled off about 4 names who could be in the same boat so you'd think at some point he will be playing forward.
Not for me.....yet.

Peter

See how he lines up in JLT as reasonable value, like 4-5 others

From an outsiders (and victorians) perspective, I would have thought the Walters move to spend more time in the middle is justified if Bennell plays forward, those two may rotate. Both have the class and ability. Having said that, it would all hinge on bennells ability to stay on the park.

Keep in mind that Walters shares the bye with Heeney, Billings, Buddy and Menegola
