RoughRed

After much sober reflection on last seasons failings I decided to revert to big full bodied Shiraz to assist in compiling my team - The fine pinots just did not deliver!

Disclosure - I am a WCE supporter so at least one eagle per line is required :)

Backs
Yeo, Laird, Williams, are my starting 3 - No Dockerty  :'( . Duggan finished 2017 well and I am hopeful of a breakout. Getting acquainted with the Rooks

Mids
Mitchell, Kelly, Couch sit at the front of the cue. Danger is a bit expensive for my taste. Fyfe should improve with a full pre-season and Blakley is going to be a beast. AH Chee is ready to make a jump. Garlett and Kelly I like but the others are place holders

Ruck
NicNat is heart over head but Hodor is going to get lots of game time

Forward
I love Menegola (WCE should never have let him go!) but wonder where he fits in the new look Geelong. JK should win another Coleman this year. Billings (keeper). Bennell (lets see him through pre-season). Rayner brings me more beast. Rioli -well not only WCE but a Rioli, what can go wrong!

I have $242k left ....
Duggan to Witherden or Blakley/Fyfe to Danger or NicNat to Gawn or JK to Curnow and Bennell to Buddy

Cheers and look to some constructive feedback

Do not mind the team. Nice first up hope the Shiraz was worth it.

Only Concern I have is Darcy is R2 so maybe upgrade him to a premo Jacobs, Martin, Gawn who should all return 100+.

Money Shot

Would like your thoughts as a west coast fan on Yeo as he is in my team at the moment but he did finish last year poorly.

Laird and Williams are both really nice picks.

Duggan is that awkward price range that you would really need him to be a keeper to make selecting him worth while and although he is likely to increase his average even if he averages 80 or so he won't make a whole lot of money.

Brayshaw/Birchall will score similar at a cheaper price (I would look at both)

You have said that you think Danger is too much so I am not going to stop you there as the more teams that don't start him the better in my eyes ;)

Kelly, Crouch and Fyfe are all guns so nothing wrong there.

If you think Blakely will become a keeper then pick him. (I'm sure we would all be starting him if he was in defence) again Coniglio is slightly cheaper and he has gone 105+ before.

Ah Chee is in a lot of teams so obviously he is looking like getting more midfield minutes. I will wait to JLT on that one.

Don't trust Darcy at all. He won't average enough to be a keeper and won't make much money either so you will be stuck with an underperforming ruck for the whole season. Just get GAWN.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Menegola could be the number one forward by seasons end but I am not starting him as we don't know how he will go and it is unlikely he will increase his output by too much in my opinion. Can see why you are starting him however.

Kennedy seems to keep producing every year so I can't fault that pick and Billings is a keeper as stated.

Bennell is a lock if he plays through JLT.

Duggan to Birchall
Darcy to Gawn
and upgrade Blakely.

Peter

The problem I see with WCE mids as they have Shuey, Sheed, Redden before Ah Chee, but then he is not a lot more than Dow or LDU. Really have to see the pre-season and training action

SilverLion

Wouldn't start JJK, hearing hes got injury troubles at the present. Do like the Blakely and Duggan selections, could see both of them paying off big time.

RoughRed

reviewed rehashed rewritten .... hopefully no regrets

B: Laird, Hibberd, Simpson, Sicily,Naughton, Doedee (Murray, Mira)

M: Dangerfield, Mitchell, MCrouch, Fyfe, Coniglio, Redden, Kelly, Barry  (Findlayson, Garlett, Holman)

R: Gawn, Goldstein (Olango)

F: Henney, Billings, McLean, Christensen, Keeffe, Crowden (Ryan, Fitsch)

Hopefully 16 keepers ...hahaha
Backs - going Hibberd over Hurley
Happy with Rucks
Mids mix works for now
Fwds are set but looking at Buddy and a fit Lobb

Still playing with rooks - depending on R1 and perceived JS
  1. May take Findlayson to B5 downgrade Naughton to a cheaper rook
  2. Garlett holding a DDP but could take Crowden to Mid bench and replace with another Fwd rook

Paid too much for a couple of rooks in past past ... this year cheap is best :) ... subject to JS, injury etc etc.

R12: - 20 "players" with 5 "keepers" out - Simpson, Sicily, Mitchell, Redden, McLean
R13: - 21 "players" with 5 "keepers" out - Hibberd, Coniglio, Gawn, Goldstein, Christensen
R14: - 21 "players" with 6 "keepers" out - Dangerfiled, Crouch, Fyfe, Henney, Billings

Of course that assumes that all of my rooks (including Olango) are getting game time by then :)
