Yes, however I'll be picking guys who I want in my final team, for example taking Beams, Pendles, Rocky types over Mitchell, Martin types. I'm generally pretty good at holding and hoping, and as I focus on my cash league comp, the extra few points I miss one week, don't matter if I win the league match up. I held Treloar all last year, abd the week a lot were jumping off, he scored a 130 or something and helped me over the line. I had 6 trades left for finals, and this strategy meant I had treloar as m9 towards the end of the year and looped him with Hanners (traded him in at his cheapest), looped buddy with Mitch Wallis (both traded in at some point), and allowed me to trade in form players for injured guns in the finals (bought in Kelly who won me my prelim). I always try and think of my side as "best 25", allowing for loops I'll end up with on all lines (1 line I'll try and cover with DPP loops).

The aim is to take a couple of lower/under priced premiums to get an extra premium, not necessarily a mid pricer. I started Danger last year, as well as Pendles, so it all depends on which rookies look good. My starting team was pretty rubbish last year to be honest, I decided to "play it safe" and not start with Kelly, Murphy and Oliver, plus some cash, who I had initially... I dumped them for Pendles, Treloar and Beams! At least I started Mitchell and bought in Dusty early and cheap, that was something..

I think will start with Mitchell and Martin though as super Premiums; less trades the better.  Forwards are going to be the challenge as usual, although there are some likely cheapies starting in Round 1

Backs - Simpson (hasn’t averaged under 90 and with Docherty out, will have a bigger role imo), Williams (suggest will be the main playmaker for GWS coming out of defence and played midfield at times in 2017), Witherden (taking the kickout and hitting targets is his speciality - did it in 2017 and has Hodge now to hit up), Birchall (will take the 80 points until cash allows me to upgrade him later in the season), Doedee, Morgan, Gardner, Cumming
Mids - Danger, Martin, Mitchell (the three big guns that ooze points and make yhem every time they go near the ball), Fyfe (my early tip for Brownlow), Cripps (No 1 big gun at Blues now), Dow, Brayshaw, UDL, Kelly (believe all will play around 1 and make $200-$250k each and then upgrade), Clark, Worpel
Rucks - Gawn, NicNat, Jones (looked at all the possibilities and just can’t go past them (and neither will 80% of SC’s)
Forwards - Billings (can’t see why won’t be No 1 forward with his draw), McLean (toss up with Heeney, but his injury, Swans early difficult fixture and bye has encouraged me to make Heeney an upgrade target), Lobb (no-brainer), Bennell and Christensen (both recovering from injury but can easily be downgraded at end R2 if needed), Venables, Ryan, Rioli (surely Simpson will start a couple of these)

Leaves $179,300, so plenty of room to change, if needed

Byes 5/4/4 for premiums and one each for mid-rangers

Have left out Savage and MCrouch, but going a little heavier In forwards as imo good points there

Yeah that looks really good man. Would probably prefer MCrouch over Cripps with the cash you have in hand, but leaving some for now allows you to make any changes closer to round 1 if certain rookies aren't named without having to do any major changes to your side. Good stuff!

Solid team Peter, not totally convinced on Simmo this year, he has been incredibly consistent over his career, with 2016 being the only year he has averaged 100+. Now 33 and with no Doch to help him, I can see his SC relevance dropping (think Gibson last year).

Re Simpson, those were my exact thoughts last year and refused to select him. Have never had him in SC and numerous experts have made me look silly, so going to throw him in this season as I think he will be the outlet pass king and transition the ball to forwards

What's the reason for McLean? I'm just looking through peoples teams now and yours is the second to have him, he's very inconsistent for me...

From Rd 12 last year McLean averaged 92 so that is why some of us are picking him as he is priced at 81.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking too, curious to see if McLean gets more mid time along with those two. Not convinced Beveridge sees Libba as best 22.
