Witherden 8)
It’s great that he took the kick ins last year and played on a few times from them. He’s a kicker more than a hand baller and an elite one at that. With Docherty out all year, we are all in need of an extra player to fill the void and he is genuinely one of the better picks in defence, even though he’s only played half a year.
Witherden is on my radar but I probably won’t start him... not altogether ruling it out though.

Call me biased, but Patrick Cripps at $537K sounds pretty good to me. His first full preseason (unless he gets injured between now and round 1) since joining the blues, and correct me if I'm wrong, racked up some big scores the three weeks before he broke his leg? Back injury last preseason meant he took a while to get going, but I'm backing him in to go HUGE this year!!
I also like Stephen Coniglio $452K. Had him in my draft last year (unfortunately) and noticed he had a couple of huge scores when he finally came back. Thoughts?

Biggest lock means to me someone to bank on Cripps and Coniglio dont fall in to that category........ not yet  :P

Last year I got poo pooed on calling out Billings....... this year I'm making the call on these two. They are already both great players, but I think Cripps going in to his 5th year and Coniglio having another crack at his 6th will step it up in to the aforementioned category!! Only my opinion of course.

I can see opposition teams locking him down.

Potentially, but they haven't the last two years. Also no-one locked down Docherty, Hibberd, Roberton, Lloyd etc. last year so can't see why they'd start now.

Because Adelaide will contend and after Smiths injury and Lever leaving Adelaides backline has been weakened and stopping
Laird now seems more obvious than say tagging Sloane who now has Gibbs to relieve pressure.

Laird  my only lock in defence
Danger and Fyfe my only locks in the mid
Gawn and Nicnat locked away
Heeney my only forward locked in.

All other spots both premium and rookie are open

The Crouch brothers, Greenwood and a guy like CEY have improvement in them. The mids will be fine. I'll be very surprised if Gibbs doesn't help out across half back more than the midfield. This is one reason not to pick Laird.

Hadn't thought of that, quite possible.
