This season will be a setvand forget and hope no new injuries for Rucks. PODs will be difficult due to price differentials - at least only need to upgrade three lines, but cross fingers on rucks

Don't normally do a team before new year but bit of time while having lunch ;)

Backs : Hurley Yeo Lloyd Birchall Hibberd (NM) Keeffe       Doedee Murray

Mids   : Danger Mitchell Fyfe Bont Beams Setterfield Brodie Higgins (R)    Wigg Ahern Garlett

Rucks : Ryder Gawn       Hayes

FWD's : Heeney Greene Dahlhaus Bennell Long W. Rioli         Powell Crowden

Have no idea if the cheapies will be playing but the structure will be the same 13 guns + cheapies and rookies

$29800 left over

Done a couple of cosmetic changes to original team Laird and Francis out of the backs Lloyd and Birchall in
Billings out Greene in forward just a bit more friendly bye wise
DEF:
- Like the Yeo & Hurley picks, solid & dependable
- Not a fan of the Lloyd selection, ranked 17th DEF for 2017, that's not good enough to merit selection IMO, will get you points but not enough to be competitive overall if you keep him, even as a D6.  I'd do what you can to get Laird in.
- Not a fan of the Birchall selection, can't see him averaging > 80 PPG, also can't see him playing 22 games. As per Lloyd, will get you points early but long term will effect your ranking.
Lloyd would have likely been top 10 last season without that concussion. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go top 10 in 2018, especially with no Adams or Docherty there.

So Lloyd scored 1833 from 21 games (including his concussion affected 4 SC in R10) at an avg of 87.3.  If we just deduct his R10 score (4 SC) that gives him an average of 91.45, which would have had him average 11th most for defenders, so yes without Docherty & Adams he could in theory be the 9th best defender. Can't see him cracking the top 6 DEF.

Hi Shaker, here are my observations/opinions re: your team.
MID:
- Like the Danger/Titch/Fyfe picks, they are all must have's
- Bont selection could pay off, had a bit of a down year last year, dunno....
- Beams won't go top 8 MID so I don't know if it's a good idea to select him, especially given his games per season history. But then again, he might... it's just risky.
RUCK:
- I'd love to pick Ryder, god he was good in 2017, but that R10 bye just sucks ass.  It's a guaranteed donut, and no-one likes the taste of those!
- Gawn picks himself this year IMO, looks fit AF, could go #1 ruck
FWD:
- Greene, he's such a White Goodman.  I had him last year and it's enough for me to not pick him again, at most I'd look to make him one of my last upgrades to try to minimise my exposure to his dickhead antics/missed games
- Don't like the Dollshouse pick, he had a dirty year in 2017, enough to scare me off from selecting him
- Bennell... risk/reward... but, even if he plays well, how many games will he play? I'd bet my ballbag he won't play 22 games. I guess at worst you'd have to burn a trade if he re -injures himself.

Overall, a good starting effort and with some adjustments you'll be good to go.
Cheers DCAK for your detailed write up of my team as GL posted later about Lloyd take that 4 he got when concussed and he is priced nicely think he only scored one or two low scores this year and I reckon he is a good D6 at least

Beams if he gets his body right and is up and about is a SC pig but yes he is a wait and see

The whole Bulldog team was off this year I've a hunch they will be a lot better this year so Bont is in , he is going to have a monster year sooner or later and Dahlhaus well yep he is a bit of a risk

Rucks Gawn is in and just can't go past Ryder at this stage but his bye sucks but will stick with this till the rookies are clearer.

Just doing the maths on his average when replying to GL might have changed my opinion on LLoyd actually!! I take my earlier comments re: him back, could go D6 maybe  :)

Watch Dahlhous vs McLean in JLT
Will certainly be watching both and not writing off Dahlhaus yet he started quite well last year but seemed to cop a bit of a battering in the 2nd half of the season and didn't look 100% similar to how Hanners looked most of the year

Ringo

#24
If you check the stats for last year you will see Dahlhaus drop virtually coincided with McLeans getting more mid time so something to watch in JLT.
From Rd 12 Dahlhaus averaged 83 compared to McLeans 93. Seriously looking at McLean over Dahlhaus based on these stats but will watch JLT as McLean is priced at 85.

Yep round 12 was when Dahl copped a heavy hit and don't think he was that great for the rest of season but he will be only 26 in his prime I'm thinking he will bounce back but yeah will keep a close eye on JLT

Peter

Also coincides with Macrae increased scoring, good POD, particularly in RDT
