Howdy folks, here's my first attempt to selecting my SC team for 2018;

Notes:
- I have only selected premiums that I believe will end the year in the top 6/8/6 DEF/MID/FWD
- Gawn & NicNat present too much value to ignore
- Am avoiding players w/ long term injury history (minus NicNat/Gawn) so no JOM, Bennell
- Only one midpricer (Mitch Robinson), might swap him out for Matthew Kennedy, dunno..
- Rookies are just guys I think might get a game, clearly subject to change
- R3 (Olango) picked as a tactical donut, WCE have the most Sunday games in 2018 (12) next best NM, MEL, FRE (10)

Any feedback would be great, thanks!

Ringo

Nice side and structure. Like most teams I am seeing Rd 14 bye (mine included) is shaping as a horror for premium midfielders.

Hey Ringo, thanks mate, and yes, R14 is looking dirty!

Money Shot

One of the best sides i have seen in my opinion. Premiums all top 10 in there position for sure in my opinion and Robinson will also be a great pod.

Have tinkered with my team a little over the Christmas break, here's the updated version.  Have $35,400 to spare.

Ringo

Nice team and not a lot to fault Keep an eye on Wiggs injury but you have cash to counter.

Not a Menengola fan and concerned with the Ablet factor but my opinion.

Good strong team overall.

Yeah team looks well balanced on all lines but you will probably have spend up on some more expensive rookies come the season start thus you might have to lose a mid gun but a good team to sit on

Peter

What is the red line over Doedee?

Hi Peter, it’s nothing, just the remove player icon from SC Team Picker, don’t know why it’s there above old mate Doedee

Peter

Interesting selection structure - big guns on all lines whereas most other teams to date have gone with a weaker backs or forwards setup to strengthen their mids. Good luck for 2018

Must have hovered the mouse over his name when you screenshot it. I like that team.

Nice team. Someone already mentioned Wiggs ankle injury I believe, he will probably be more a downgrade target during the year. The only issue I noticed is cover for your rucks if either miss? Gawn had a severe hamstring and NicNat coming back from an ACL, are at higher risk of missing. I'm not a fan of Menegola either, particularly with Ablett coming back in and presumably eating up midfield time. Also, being a Carlton supporter, I'm not sure that O'Shea will fill the hole left by Docherty. They love Ciaran Byrne, but I guess that's a wait and see proposition. Cripps and Coniglio great pics IMO. With his first preseason under his belt, expecting Cripps to finish top 10. Cripps and Titch were my first picked this year. Overall, great team and good luck for the year.

Thanks igotworms (Dumb & Dumber reference? Love that movie!) Yeah, I do have ruck issues.  Started a thread in the SC Strategy subfolder where the 2018 ruck strategy is discussed at length.  In summary, I don't know what the answer is for best ruck set up for 2018, at this stage I'm going 'balls out' and will have to trade my way out of problems if/when they occur.  If O'Shea doesn't play I'll just swap him out for someone who does get a game.  I might just hang on to Wigg and stash him on the bench, don't know, unless someone else puts their hand up and is too good to miss out on.

Thanks Ringo.  I'm a Cats fan, I see Menegola as a key cog in our midfield rotations.  I think that in 2018 we might see Dangerfield forward a bit more often than 2017, he was sensational in the games that he spent substantial time forward, and with Tomahawk seeming to have either reached a plateau or declining in goals per game output Chris Scott might be looking for other avenues to goal.  I reckon that will be achieved through a rotation of Ablett & Dangerfield fwd/mid.  Don't think that will impact Menegola that much.
