Hey guys, never been too good at SC compared to DT/AF, but will document my first year that I actually probbably will give a shower in this thread. :)

First draft:

Few notes:

- Savage averaged 100.2 after getting a kick in the ass in the VFL, if he continues his blinding pre-season, he could be a massive value pick I think.
- If Arch features in the Weagles midfield group in training and JLT he is a lock & throw away the key type scenario. Averaged 96.4 unsubbed in 2015 played midfield. Has played forward ever since and has moved for mid/first team opportunities.

Feedback would be appreciated. I'll get around to offering awful advice to others tomorrow.  ;D

Hi Koop, nice work on your first attempt for SC2018. For what it's worth I think you've loaded up on too many injury prone players (JOM, Bennell, Brayshaw), it's gonna end in tears.  In my experience it's running out of trades that is the real killer in SC, as opposed to missing a bargain/breakout player.

Nice Team first up Koop. Just personal think Menengola not worth the price. Would be if he could kick straight but hopefully has worked on this in off season.

Couple of injury risks that have been identified.

Money Shot

Great team with some nice pods. Ah Chee seems like a good/smart pick but for some reason i cant bring my self to even consider him. Too much of a risk to play games as a small forward and get alot of 60s, can see your reasoning and he may be a great pick up.

Ringo, what is the issue with Menegola's kicking.   Assuming it is no worse than in the past he has to be a pretty solid high 90 low 100s scorer as a fwd in SC.   Makes him a great pick.    If his kicking improves and his efficiency goes up all good news.
Or are you expecting him the one to make way for GAZ in the mid minutes and this will see his scoring dorp.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the Chad kupa. Heavily considering him as a starting forward, but Rocky/Fatlop/Watts coming in, along with the early bye has put me off for now. More mid time? Less?

Chad’s biggest problem I feel is his downhill skiing tendency. It’s what’s stopping him from becoming a bonafide, top 6 premium. What I mean by that is, his SC average in games at AO this year was 103, while his away average was 20pts, that’s a fair gap to be dealing with on a week to week basis. I have him actually in the guts in my best 22, purely because I feel our inside midfield brigade at the moment lack a yard of pace. Rockliff will play half-forward with stints in the midfield and Motlop ‘should’ rotate between half forward and wing.

C: Jared Polec, Brad Ebert, Steven Motlop
HF: Tom Rockliff, Jack Watts, Travis Boak
F: Robbie Gray, Charlie Dixon, Sam Gray
Fol: Paddy Ryder, Ollie Wines, Chad Wingard

That’s how I have our front half looking at the moment fwiw ^

TL;DR: I expect more midfield minutes than last year, but not full-time.

That’s a fair comment. When I have a more in-depth look I’ll see about some options. Bennell probably the most iffy for me. As long as Gus doesn’t run his head into anyone I feel he should be okay.

Yeah definitely, won’t go near him if I see he is training with the forwards or is there in JLT. Did say in an article that he had his eye on one of those vacated midfield spots, I’ll try & find it in the morning.

Yeah look I’m not sold either, I’ll need to see time in the guys in the JLT to lock it in I think.

Lovely defence, looks rock solid and wouldn't change the structure of it too much except rookies.

Same goes for the forward line, though you may wish to swap out Ah Chee or Bennell for Christensen depending on how they all go through the JLT. Wingard an interesting selection.

Rucks are stock standard. Tick for now.

Mids are very interesting, few pods in there. JOM very risky, picking him could pay off though. Pendlebury a great POD, you know what he'll give ya every week. Murphy is the one I'd look at, feel that there are better options available for around his price. Merrett and Zorko the x-factors and Crouch and Neale the consistent guns.

Cheers SL, not sure I'll play around with my defence too much over the preseason, have faith in Brayshaw to stay on the park and happy to back Savage in.

Yeah those two spots could be any of the mid-price guys come Round 1, I really like Ah Chee but will monitor in the JLT.

That's a fair point to be honest, Neale is one I'm heavily considering who could go further again in 2018, so that could be a good shout.

Thanks for the feedback mate!

Peter

Considered Neale also, but too many loss of points when away from WA for me

A few changes made, but relatively happy with this team heading into the JLT. :) Thoughts & ideas always appreciated. 33k ITB.

Pendlebury-->JDG and you should be pretty well set imho

Money Shot

Can't fault the team mate, well done.

Good side, like the Kelly pick. Haven't seen him in many teams and should be a top 10-15 mid easily.

Just posting here that I was the first to get on Savage. xo
