Cash? Personally I'd sacrifice the D/M DPP for now, and drop Cole for Brodie or a cheaper mid rookie.

Bugger all cash

Coffield replaces Cole and Brodie comes in? Is that what you're suggesting? If I do that I don't need O'Connor then, but who else is there to fill D8? That's why I went with this approach because Murray, Doedee and Finlayson look like the only 3 cheap rookies starting and being half good

As for cheaper mid rookies besides possibly Barry and Garlett I can't see any one else starting. Garlett might not score well and Barry might get dropped early which is why I'm only starting 4 mid rookies total
Mirra looked good today, would save you 20k as well.

Bully

Nice team, Arma vs JOM, tell me why you think he's a better option? Still concerned that he plays a back seat to guys like Steele, Ross,  Dunstan, Newnes, Stevens etc.

RaisyDaisy

I'm just not sure Mirra actually lines up Round 1. If one of Mirra, Murphy or Mihocek line up Round 1 then it's happy days, but I'm not sure that will actually happen

I've tried to design this team with players that will almost certainly line up Rd1, other than the intended donuts as mentioned previously so I don't want to put in guys that are probably unlikely for now

As for Arma vs JOM it's probably just personal preference

JOM seems to put up a lot of 75-95ish scores and can be a bit handball happy. I just feel like Arma has the bigger ceiling of the two and can probably ton up more often than JOM can. All just personal opinion of course

Agree re Arma v JOM - has potential to go bigger. Trying to see if I should squeeze him in

Bully

Still undecided on Arma vs JOM, both have solid ownership so no POD advantage. Here's the draw -

Armitage
vs Brisbane (home) *123 last score
vs North (away) *48
vs Adelaide (home) *82
vs Geelong (away) *66
vs GWS (home) *99
vs Hawks (away) *105

O'Meara
vs Coll (home) *143 scored prior to injury
vs Geel (away) *88 scored prior to injury
vs Rich (away) *117 scored prior to injury
vs Melb (home) *75 scored prior to injury
vs North (away) * 95 scored prior to injury
vs St Kilda (home) *39

I'd probably have Armitage ahead, just, I think he could get off to a great start with 2 bottom 4 teams in the first two rounds. I think it's really important to get cash generation off to a flier. Slightly nervous about the North game but they were top 4 back then.

Just for the record, JOM ownership currently at 25%, Armitage 15%.

Personally I reckon Brodie will average more than arma time will tell :)

good luck to you this year

Alright, so here's how I ended up starting 2018

D: Rory Laird, Michael Hibberd, James Sicily, Aaron Naughton, Sam Murray, Jeremy Finlayson (Tom Doedee, Lachie Murphy)

M: Tom Mitchell, Gary Ablett, Josh Kelly, Matt Crouch, Nat Fyfe, David Armitage, Andrew Brayshaw, Nick Holman (Tim Kelly, Bailey Banfield, Dom Barry)

R: Todd Goldstein, Max Gawn (Tony Olango)

F: Buddy Franklin, Isaac Heeney, Jack Billings, Rory Lobb, Tom Bell, Bailey Fritsch (Daniel Venables, Lachlan Keeffe)

Round 1 Score: 2373

Other than Fyfe and Hibberd putting up 75, all of my keepers scored great, so that was very pleasing. Goldy, Heeney and Arma were on track for much bigger scores too, but all 3 of them had really quiet second halves which was disappointing :(

I decided to GnR as much as I could - Arma and Bell the only mid pricers but they were required due to lack of rookies. Sicily and Lobb are selected as keepers. Because I chose to drop Danger, I thought it was important to drop the Conigs/Libba setup I had and start 5 super prems to make up for the upcoming lack of Danger, and thankfully I did as I dodged the bullet with Libba

Naughton on field with Doedee on the bench, and Brayshaw on field with Kelly on the bench were my only 2 mishaps, but it did cost me 121 points

Very happy with my selections overall, and I don't think I need to make any trades this week

I'll keep an eye on English and L.Fogarty to see how they go next week, but other than that I think I've nailed my selections and structure so far. Brayshaw was the last picked, I really didn't want to start him (I think most people know I hate starting expensive rookies) but I thought Forgaty (who I was going to pick instead) might get dropped when Danger returns, so settled on Brayshaw just for the JS, and that seems to have backfired

As always, any suggestions or tips would be great :)

Good side mate. Nice start to the year. I'd keep an eye on the rookies you mentioned but would hold off on making rookie trades off 1 week of games.

Torpedo10

Very nice squad as expected from you, RD. I'd agree with AK on the rookies point, I like Brayshaw and think he can only go bigger than he did on Saturday. Keep faith!

Fair to say, Buddy really made this week worth it for you!   ;D

Not trading lads :)

Not just Buddy Torp, every one of my keepers except Fyfe/Hibberd tonned up so that's always nice (Lobb just a few short but I'll count it :P)

Alright, so my team is an absolute mess and I can't ever recall being in such bad shape in all my years of SC

Here's the current team, and I've highlighted all of the players who I see as problems

D: Rory Laird, James Sicily, Riley Bonner, Tom Doedee, Jeremy Finlayson, Sam Murray (Aaron Naughton, Lachlan Murphy)

M: Tom Mitchell, Dustin Martin, Josh Kelly, Clayton Oliver, Nat Fyfe, David Armitage, Tim Kelly, Nick Holman (Andrew Brayshaw, Bailey Banfield, Dom Barry)

R: Max Gawn, Todd Goldstein (Tony Olango)

F: Lance Franklin, Isaac Heeney, Jack Billings, Rory Lobb, Jack Henry, Bailey Fristch (Daniel Venables, Lachlan Keeffe)

It's not pretty

Dom Barry I haven't highlighted, but he can rot away at M11 for all I care so not fussed

The only good news? I have $506,800 in the kitty, so it's time to go shopping!

As far as I can tell there aren't any must have rookies I need to bring in this week, so I'm eyeing off a double upgrade this week

I've got a few ideas of what I can do, but I'd love to get some suggestions from other here, so what trades should I do this week?

*EDIT* Toby McLean is 100% coming in this week, so keep that in mind :)

Gandalf123

Is armo - danger and Lobb - mclean possible? Probably be tight

Southstorm

If you can't go Armo -> Danger and Lobb -> McLean, could always consider going to a Macrae or a Gibbs or anybody else that might be up there at the end of the year. Danger will probably be cheaper in 3 weeks time.

RaisyDaisy

Thanks for the ideas so far guys

Don't see a reason to get Danger yet with scores of 130, 100 and 103 so I will wait a while until he is 100k cheaper which shouldn't take too long

Lobb to McLean and Arma to prem mid seem like the obvious choice, but there's other options I will play around with too

Torpedo10

Danger is going to go 160 this week RD, so be prepared to still be paying 700k in a month's time.  ;)

But otherwise, I'd jump on Coniglio or Zerrett for sure, whoever suits your bye structure better.
