Have locked this team away still start of Rd 1 and famous last words not touching it again. Made a few adjustments based on comments and research. Reasonably happy with it apart from a few.  Rookies place holders but plans if need more cash as only 9k to play with:
O'Meara down to Griffin or playing rookie. A lot depends on how many mid playing rookies we have as that is where cash generation will occur,
Burton maybe down to Bowes.

Comments:
Def: Laird will be a Top 5 defender, Simpson very consistent for 90+ so can not ask for more even if he becomes d6, Roberton another consistent player who should also average 90+, Burton my smokey to break out in the Hawks back line 21 years of age and with Hodge departing should see more game time and averaged 95 for the last 4 games he played. Rookies a wait and see.  With defensive rookies appearing scarce think I needed a stronger D4.
Mids: Danger, Titchell, Fyfe musts in my opinion, Pendles ever reliable and hopefully Buckley will not use him as Me Fix it. Beams is an injury risk but we all know what he can do and I could not leave Lions skipper out  :). O'Meara is in at the moment but as I said above he may be downgraded. From all reports he is training well so if we can get some cash rises out of him before injury happy.
Rucks: Set and Forget.  Watching JLT though as one could become Gawn but not a lot of difference cash wise,
Fwds: Still not convinced on this line as it is the one giving grief as no real standouts. So much upside for Greene if he stays on park so taking a risk (although he could still become Heeney or Billings), Walters a speculative pick based on the fact traing with mids and being given more mid time, Petracca another speculative pick as I suspect this may be the year he gets some consistency into his game, Bundy Christensen jumping out of his skin to play and will make cash and could even become a keeper if he gets back to pre 2016 form. Has done all the pre-season work and in leadership group.

Team also set with byes in mind with the following prems/possible keepers bye details:
Rd 10 - None
Rd 12: Simpson, Burton, Mitchell (O'Meara)
Rd 13: Pendles, Beams, Goldstein, Greene, (Petracca, Christensen)
Rd 14: Laird, Roberton, Danger, Fyfe, Jacobs, Walters.

A few pods which may or may not come off but need to take some risks.

Hey Ringo, thanks for your comment on my team.

Your team looks rock-solid. I can see why you're going to sit on it for the time being.

The thing I love about it is your loyalty to players who've been so good to us over the years: Simpson; Pendlebury; Beams. It seems as if these players have all at once become differentiators, which is remarkable. This is the first time in ten years I don't have Ablett and/or Pendlebury in my starting side. If Pendlebury returns a 110-115 average, I'll never forgive myself! Being a Blues fan, I really should select Simpson; I expect him to take kick-ins with Docherty out, and putting in a 90-95 season. Beams: it's his body, and whether he'll play 20+ games that concerns me.

When you add the following four players - Roberton; Burton; Walters; Petracca - your team feels very unique without being seeming risky. I like the defence, but if I have to be honest, the front three on the forward line seem weak collectively. Personally, I'd take only one of Walters or Petracca, and try turning the other into Heeney. Be one player more conservative, and you're good to go.

For what it's worth I live in Hobart, and have just returned from the North Melbourne - Melbourne game. A couple of observations:

I haven't looked at the stats, but to the naked eye Goldstein was lively, very mobile, and competed well against Gawn. I currently have Jacobs - Gawn, but may actually switch in Goldstein here. A Gawn - Goldstein Ruck set-up feels like it could be fruitful for a combined 210 weekly return.

Petracca spent a lot of time on the half forward line, which surprised me. Was really expecting him to run more through the midfield. Hogan, on the other hand, attended a number of stoppages. Priced under 400K, I wonder how many people have the courage to start him over Petracca as a unique?

Davies-Uniacke only got his first disposal a few minutes before half time. That worried me somewhat.

Can't fault this squad at all Ringo.
Very solid team and structure.

Gawnless, but that's ok. I feel safer with him but I can understand the punt not to start him.
Some nice pods in your team. I also think Burton is in for a big year.
Looking forward to see what role Walters plays today. If he gets plenty of mid time he will become more popular.

Top job mate.

69k cash left

This team is well set up for byes and 13 keepers with Sicily, O'Meara and Christensen maybes depending on form but they are currently planned to be upgrades.

Based on the 13 keepers will need 18 - 10 trades to upgrade to full premo team leaving 10 - 12 correctional injury trades. Thats the plan at this stage but as we know all the best plans can go to crap very quickly.

Selection queries to be resolved prior to round 1 apart from rookie selections:
Bontempelli, Murphy or Pendles.
O'Meara or Armitage, Maybe Griffen if more cash required.
Still not sold on Sicily but there for the flexibility,

If Gawn goes down with a knee in R3 this will be a stroke of genius :-)
But not sold on Burton (or Burton and Sicily together) and Stephenson will need to play a better JLT2 which the kid may do.
Will be fun to see...

Ringo

Have put a couple of high priced rookies in Stephenson, Coffield and Naughton that I may be able to downgrade.

Think that with Hodges departure Burton and Sicily may be the 2 to benefit so not overly concerned.

Bully

I like it but would personally look at getting Burton up to Hurley, 166k is too much to be sitting on your bench.

Why no coniglio?
Could find his way in depending on Rookies - eg O'Meara up to Nigs if enough cash.

As I said expensive rookies used to allow downgrades when I see which Rookies are playing. Burton though is one I am tipping to break out.

I feel like there's way too much competition in the bulldogs midfield for McClean. Libba back fully fit, Dunkley is going to be a genuine superstar and his minutes will increase. Obviously Macrae and Bont are their superstars. Plus Dahlhaus, Daniel, Wallis and Hunter. I see something similar with Dahlhaus.

General rule of thumb is 4-6x 90+ppg, 8x80+ppg, will be tough to see him improve to the extent you'd be hoping.

Money Shot

Think Gawn is a must but I guess if he does go down with an injury you will be up on the rest of the comp!

Agree that 166k on the bench is probably too much and with Doedee and Finlayson looking good enough to be put on the field I think you should downgrade Naughton and try and use the money else where.

In saying that it is a really good team you have.

What other def rookies are looking likely though for r1? These are the top 4 imo, who cares which ones you start on field.

Bully

Payne a reasonable shot, thought he was one of Brisbane's best in JLT 1. Lachlan Murphy at 102k is a must if named. Job security not brilliant but he only needs 5 games to make 70k.

Ringo

A lot however depends on which rookies start in Rd 1. Sicily and Keeffe can swap if not enough forwards rookies start. if that is the case then Naughton comes on to the field.
Obviously though if cheaper rookies start then they will be looked out and maybe enough to upgrade a mid pricer.

Bully

With Cameron some chance to make the cut I will be using Keeffe as my floating donut/ C loophole. Kind of hopng Keeffe doesn't get named if this is how it pans out.
