"It's not looking great, I think he'll probably have an extended period off football, which is really unfortunate because he was producing some really good highlight reels for us and kicking some goals," Eagles coach Adam Simpson told Channel Seven.

"Unfortunately he won't be available for some time."

FFS I just bought him in this week too

I'm having a horror year so far. Guess I need to trade him out now. Flower!

Ablett ruled out this week (no surprise) but it does sound somewhat optimistic

I've got Ryan who now needs to be traded, and for my other trade I've got Ablett, Arma and Lobb as my main concerns

There's every chance Arma and Lobb could miss this week too. If that's the case, I reckon I might actually hold Ablett and use him to loophole a rookie, at least for this week

I'm screwed either way

Someone told me Ryan expected to miss 6-8. Haven’t seen anything official yet so hope this isn’t true. Already have Langdon on bench and don’t want to have to field venables. Ryan will make some good cash but geez that’s a long time on the sidelines

Apparently he heard a 'crack' in his ankle so could be out a while

When you hear a crack it's more likely a tendon issue. My guess is if it was an ankle it's a high ankle sprain and syndesmosis. It's a 4-6 week injury and it's not fun. I've had one before and they're a dog. When I did mine I heard a crack and thought I had broken something as well.

That's strange watching Footy Classified last night and a time of 6-8 weeks for Ablett which I thought was a bit long but seems it's the same hammy he hurt preseason

3 weeks minimum for Gaz, no way I can see him returning any earlier, you'd expect Geelong to be cautious too.

I heard a crack with mine but X-rays came back negative. Hurt like a mother f'er and I couldn't even put wait on it for a couple of weeks. I'll go with what you said on this one, you've got the expert opinion here.

JJK, Darling and Waterman will work fine - Waterman has moved up the ground at times and he's looked good so JJK and Jack can play deeper in two pronged attack.
