Lachlan Murphy (Def) is pushing hard for a round one gig. Played a solid game against Freo and the word is the coaching staff were thrilled with his game. A couple of injuries to players that were more likely to get the Charlie Cameron spot has opened up the door for Murphy to make that spot his. Scored well for 63% TOG, 3 goals helped 11 disposals 6 CP's. Kid goes ok.

He was one of the best last year for our SANFL team. Pretty sure he won the Dean Bailey award. Got a lot of time for him, can see him breaking in at some point

Played as a midfielder in the TAC, moved into defence last year, is built perfectly for the small forward role. Has better skills than Gallucci and im pretty sure he is ahead of him in the pecking order, but isn't as polished as Knight.

Knight should be out for 6-8 weeks which would mean missing the first 3-4 rounds, maybe a bit more if he takes a bit of time to get match fit. Question is can you pick a small forward in a top side who's JS will be very shaky maybe 1-2 weeks after his first price rise.

69 for a 3 goal game isn't that strong. Likely to average 45-50 IMO if he plays.

True his JS is shakey at the minute. Hoping he can keep trending upwards and make it his to lose or hard for Knight to grab it when fit enough. 3 goals inflate his score agreed but only 63% TOG, he knows where the goals are couple here and there will help us and his avg.
Definitely putting his hand up, even after his performance I didn't think he was a chance but looking at it closer now, I could definitely see him starting R1. Baring anymore injuries from now on, I personally think we have two spots up for grabs after, imo, Hampton and Doedee locked in their places on the weekend and I reckon it will be out of Murphy, Milera, Gibson, Mackay (throws up), and Seedsman, so like I said, potential to play is there but very shaky JS.
Is there a realistically a spot for him? Betts and Milera come in and he's the first out surely.

Milera has been training with the defenders for the majority of the pre-season, whether it actually eventuates or not is anyones guess.

There is, but whether he gets it and how long he could hold it for, especially with Knight due to return early on in the season, is a different question.

In a nutshell that is it.  ;)

seems versatile.

Agree with TomK, by super weary of any rookie who kicks 3 goals and scores under 80 SC, ask yourself how often is a rookie
going to kick 3 goals per game?

Maybe he is worth a punt in the Coleman lol.

I agree that is difficult to see Murphy posting big numbers but the fact remains that if he is named for Round 1 he will be in close to 50% of teams. Most people have Doedee & Finlayson on the park so somebody has to occupy the pine. Murray & Mirra both play/miss out on the Saturday so that will help. Maybe someone like Morgan (NM) gets a gig but his JS & scoring potential is no better than Murphy anyways.

Murphy only needs a few price rises to vindicate his selection, an average of 50 will get him  to 174k by round 5, happy to bank 72k and avoid tampering with my structure.

Naughton not looking to bad for dogs. Room in the 22 doggie fans?

Another to keep an eye for defensive rookies today.

One positional change for today's #JLTSeries match against the Swans: Payne into the starting side and Christensen to the interchange. Good reports on Payne but probably a trade down option as difficult to see him in starting side with Hodge to come.

Good start Ringo, things looking up in defence.

It's now the forwards that are looking particularly thin  :-\
