Hardwick now the 3rd person at Richmond to basically say Higgins won't be in the round 1 side.

Mid Season downgrade, or knowing Hardwick a R2 debut

Couple of gems from Fags this morning.

Brisbane: "Zac Bailey has been very impressive.. certainly the form he's displaying in match practice will put him in line for consideration for selection in Round 1" Chris Fagan

Brisbane: "He's had a great pre-season.. he's been playing up Forward & onball (match practice).. he can contribute to our goal scoring capacity up Forward this year" Chris Fagan on Allen Christensen. (Surprised Bundy only in 16% of Teams at that price).

Brisbane: Rhys Mathieson, Mitch Robinson, Cam Rayner, Brandon Starcevich, Zac Bailey & Ben Keays - players listed by Chris Fagan to replace Tom Rockliff in the midfield.

Bugger, back to the drawing board, will have to bring another premo back to the forward line. Suppose Billings is first in line.

Brad Scott on LDU

"Luke has had a really good pre-season. All of our senior players watch him move at training and they know that he's got some special traits," Scott said.

"He's quite tall for a midfielder, he's quite strong for his age and he's very strong marking above his head. I've been really impressed with how coachable Luke is too; he's very keen to learn and he's thriving in a full-time environment.

"So to look at him you would think he was ready but it takes a very, very rare player to go in and play right from the start â€" even Joel Selwood didn't play every game in his first year.

"I'm really conscious that he's 18. We would love Luke to push in and play a fair amount of footy for us this year but that will largely depend on the availability of our list and how Luke's handling the expectation.

"I think we've got to be careful with the expectation that we put on him."

Brad Scott on Ahern

"Our hope is just to get him out there playing again. We're not going to set really high expectations in terms of performance this season," Scott said.

"We just want to get him out there and get a bit of the ball, and play with some confidence and get some confidence in his body.

"He's already got through an intraclub game and played well. We think there is a hell of a lot of upside with Paul, but the priority is just to get him healthy and resilient."

Brodie maybe edging ahead.

Seems like he is trying to say may not play Rd 1  :( .  Guess we just wait and see who will play.  Been a real while since we had  such uncertainty on rookies with no guarantee that top picks will play Rd 1.

quinny88

I think Scott's kidding himself. As long as he's not injured he'll be playing. Good chance to be rested at times but that's the same as any rookie

Any further news on Wigg? He's the one that really determines how my rookie setup looks

This was quoted yesterday in local press in an article on Sam Day returning for AFLX.

"Dew now finds the squad in reasonably good shape, with only Harrison Wigg (broken ankle) and Callum Ah Chee (hand, hamstring) the two major concerns.

Dew said the continuity of the AFL club’s medical staff had contributed to the cleaner bill of health and he indicated he would take a safety-first approach to fitness to avoid another clogged casualty ward."

This paragraph may say it all and even if fit Wigg may not be included.

You have to keep in mind a coach is never going to publicly state that a rookie is lining up Round 1, especially this far away from the season starting, so you need to take a lot of what they say at this time of the year with a grain of salt

LDU is a lock to line up Round 1 imo

That's a shame. Will have to look elsewhere
