Based on yesterdays intraclub trial think both Eagles and Payne would be above Balandeen,  Payne in particular putting some pressure on so could be a smokey for Rd 1. Could have something to do with extending his contract and wanted to show he was worthy of it.

For those interested in Rayner spent his time between forward and mid,  Was a beast tackling but still doubts about his tank.

Bailey a little disappointing for mine.
I wouldn't have any of Ballenden, Payne, or Eagles even close to our R1 team barring injuries though

Agreed, but if Walker is injured, who would you have as first replacement?

The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards Eagles.

This is a list of who I think are somewhat of a chance (albeit little) to line up round 1, just to give us an idea of what sort of structures we can play around

Would love to hear peoples thoughts/input. Only listing players under 200k

DEF
Cam O'Shea
Ed Richards
Tom Doedee
Sam Murray
Ryan Gardner
Isaac Cumming
Lachlan Keeffe
Alex Morgan
Hugh Goddard
Connor Ballenden
David Mirra

MID
LDU
Will Brodie
Jaidyn Stephenson
Kieran Lovell
Jack Higgins
Brayden Sier
Harrison Wigg
Paul Ahern
Nathan Freeman
Tim Kelly
James Worpel
Dom Barry
Nick Holman

FWD
Kayle Kirby
Willie Rioli
Daniel Venables
Liam Ryan
Jarrod Garlett

Melb supporters - any thoughts on Joel and Tim Smith?

Noah Balta has really impressed in the preseason, probably a longshot but with Griffiths retired there's a sneaky chance he gets an early call-up.

That list of forwards looks pretty depressing, the only one I like is Garlett, all the others will struggle to play 100 minutes.

Haven't been following the Freo preseason but Mitch Crowden ticks a lot of boxes with his athletic profile, one of the bargains of the draft.

The defenders list is also on the nose, can't see people getting away with 5 rookies which I have seen plenty. Doedee I think has the game to field at D6, the rest will be scoring like runts. Ed Richards surely doesn't get a call-up, hasn't even played state football, but I suppose the position is there for the taking.

I would think Alex Morgan was only a very slim chance if any of a call up round one, because there's no news outta intra club matches about his performance.
I heard he injured his quad.

Ah Okay thanks, he wasn't on the list of players not to play, but they may of missed him.

One I forgot was Cox who also will be under consideration.

Haven’t really taken much notice of this thread yet or lately anyway but will read everything that’s been posted after the JLT and before R1 to gather more intel but what I have read or heard about the Sainters of late is that Freeman had a minor set back over the pre season and has been held back a bit in his best interests but is doing really well and running the best he has in a long time. Coffield seems to the best of this year’s newbies and will play at some point in 2018.
Both might be a chance for R1. Chance being the operative word. I imagine Goddard is in the same boat.

Haven’t read or heard any reports about him as yet.

Aaron Naughton is another defender that probably needs to be considered

All reports I'm reading say he is the best chance in terms of a rookie lining up Rd1 for the Dogs

Might remove Ed Richards from my team for the time being

meow meow

Seeing minimal love for the guy, but Stephenson will be in plenty of teams come round 1. Better than LDU.

Yeah RD, I've read the article in the HeraldSun "he averaged 117 SuperCoach points at Colts (under-18) level and is ready to play right away after making seven senior appearances in the WAFL last year"

Great mark but rotten kick, I'm expecting improvement down the track but his action is one of the worst I've seen from a first rounder.

Hardwick now the 3rd person at Richmond to basically say Higgins won't be in the round 1 side.
