It's a game of such fine margins, the last two rounds I've had a few line-ball calls in regards to captains. If I'd nailed them (Short, Agar) I'd currently be sitting 9th, instead I sit 85th after an extremely disappointing score 2 rounds in a row. Just kinda reminds me that I've ridden my luck to even be in the top 100 anyway, hopefully, I can hold on for a top 100 finish and try again next year.

I've got problems though, Sams getting dropped, Peirson getting demoted to 7 and Silk dropping to 5/6 to accommodate the returning egos have nullified any 3x DGW preparations I made. I also have zero Stars in Round 9 and 1 Renegade for round 10. Not fun

Currently looking at

Nair - Denly/Burns
Watson - Short
Agar -> Henriques

Leaves team at

McCullum // Denly // Ingram // McDermott // Silk (Khawaja // Bancroft)
Carey (Peirson)
Short // Archer // Khan // Henriques // Sams (Bravo // Paris)

Obviously, that means that I cop a donut if Sams misses both, but I'm not sure a double Peirson is going to do much better if I re-work my trades. Although I could potentially grab Handscomb for next round and pass on Denly/Burns. Thoughts?

I wouldn't waste your time with Handscomb, if you want a Stars player do you have the funds to go Nair to Maxi or even KP or Worrall?
And for Pierson, I'm in the same boat, unless the Heat bat first and he's named to open I'm fielding Carey over him even with the DG

Sams has been unlucky to miss out, arguably bowling better than Abbott. I'd be inclined to stick with what you've got as having Denly and or Burns will be important this week and Handscomb is unlikely to get close to what they'd put up. Hopefully Sams gets in for at least one game, but if Pearson goes well in the opening game of the round would it be somehow possible to loophole him on? In fact, he'll be stuck as McDermott also plays the first game, bugger  :-\

It's hard to think who the Sixers would leave out to bring in Sams though, they had enough blokes to cover all 20 overs and batted incredibly deep tonight, although not required, with Dwarshius listed to come in at 10. Coming off a win, perhaps it would be safer to put Peirson on who could perhaps score behind the stumps if not with the bat?

Personally, scored 897 for the week and shot up in the rankings, organised for this week with 7/11 on field with the double game after trades, and Coleman sitting on the bench as coverage plus being ready to go for the Stars double the following week. I had thought about bringing in more Stars, but, other than Maxwell, they are a rather unreliable and fantasy irrelevant team.

Dunk has had a woeful tournament and is pretty much unpickable, KP has had one good knock and that's about it. Faulkner has been slow and painful with the bat and expensive with the ball. Handscomb is cheap but most keepers are scoring pretty poorly. Gulbis, Gotch, Fallins, Boland and Bowe could all be in or out of the side while Duke has been very poor. The only other guy worth looking at is Frankie Worrall who looked threatening with the ball but has only shown one game's worth of form.

Then we've got the Renegades double to finish us off the week after and the one fella I was interested in, other than Bravo who is already in my side, was Cam White, who is of course now unavailable due to national duties. Jack Wildermuth is not too expensive and can do it with bat and ball so he may be worth a look, plus Pollard is cheap after a dreadful showing last season and could bat in the middle over and send down 3 or 4 overs. Other than those, Hogg is nearly buggered, Richardson not overly impressive and Tom Cooper is no certainty to bat not bowl it seems. Harris has struggled while Hodge, Tremain, Short, Webster, Ludeman and Holland don't really look like beating a good one game score with two cracks at it.

Finally, captaincy this week, I imagine Short will be very, very common. However, I'll be using the VC on him with a chance to drop the skipper on a Sixers player should he fail against the Heat. McCullum or Archer would be good uniques but it'd be brave to not pick Short after he put up 250+ from two appearances less than a week ago.

Good luck to all for the run home.

I'm going,

Watson -> McCullum
Turner -> Henriques
Johnson -> Maxwell

Could get anther DG player in instead of Maxi but this sets me up for rd 9 and I already have 7 DG players and don't what to roll the dice on a unreliable pick like Burns/Dwarshuis/Denly/Steekete/GOAT

Leaves me with

Archer Doolan McCullum Silk Maxwell (Nair Bancroft)

Carey (Peirson)

Short Henriques Doggett Khan Laughlin (Cartwright Agar)

Next round I'll bring in 3 Stars players or 2 and Bravo, although Bravo has been a bit off the last 3 games I got lucky this rd not having him and I'm not sure if i want take the chance again haha

I'm predicting Darcy Short to total less than 50 points over his 2 games this round, after everyone in the comp brings him in :P
Double or nothing :P

I'll even put the C on him this time to make sure it happens ;)

Here's where I sit after 1 transfer (Uzzie to Lyon):

Short [vc], McCullum, Maddinson, Maxwell, Watson (Weatherald, Bancroft)
Wade (Carey)
Christian, Lyon, Khan, Laughlin, Bravo [c] (Cartwright, Doggett)
$32k

With my second transfer I want to move on Weatherald because he's not performing. It's who I go to that I'm not really sure about. I don't really want to get another Hurricane, the Heat don't have anyone good, so that leaves the Sixers. Then I want to get a Stars player for next week. Also bear in mind all those potential loopholes that I'm lining up :P

Any ideas?

If you want someone from the Sixers I think it has to be Henriques or Silk as I think Denly is just out of your price range. I wouldn't say the Heat have no one good though Cutting and Burns are both viable options this week.

Henriques for me, batting at 4 plus a chance to jag a few wickets. Silk now down at 5 and doesn't bowl.
Cutting maybe, he doesn't bat as high but his bowling has improved the last few games after going the journey early in the tournament

Not a fan of either Burns or Cutting, the latter burned me once this season already so he's a no-go.

It'll be Khawaja and Weatherald to Lyon and Moises, then I'll wait to see how Doggo performs tonight but I'm lining up a left field move in Carey to Ludeman (or Dunk) for some $$ and a probable starter for the DGW both have coming up.

Hands up if you went Henriques  ::)
Me! Still got a second game, just needs to get involved in that one :)

I suppose I'm less worried as I also had Lyon, Maddinson and Maxwell who all did well (And Faulkner on my bench). Sitting on 650 points with: Short (C), Christian, Wade, Khan, Laughlin, Lyon, Maddinson, Henriques, McCullum, Doggett to come. I think it's safe to say things are looking alright :D

Just noticed the only league from here I'm in "FF Last minute" is ranked 144 which is a pretty good effort considering we are carrying 2 dead teams was wondering if we had any really high ranking leagues here?

Decided to play Peirson over Carey as a differential. Realising my mistake he is batting really well.

I don't think it's too 'hindsight' to say that was a seriously bold move! Probably edging on crazy there mate. Ouch.
