The thing is, we would have got Wilson through an alternative/cheaper avenue before Weller requested a trade, so whilst a straight swap isn't a bad outcome in isolation, overall we'd be losing out.

Weller was a former pick 13 and hasn't lost any value. And he's contracted. We'd be stupid to hold him to his contract but we need to get as much value out of him as possible (and rightly so).
Tbh he lost some value when he requested a trade haha, don't be greedy :p

Ricky Nixon saying the following on his facebook live thingo

Weller to GC.
5 to Dees.
Hogan to Freo
GC work out the rest with Dees. Probably 2x20 picks.

Our trade suggestions here on this forum carry more weight than Nixon's

As good as we all are - I highly doubt it.

Lol apparently we demanded pick 2 ;D
He's worth a first rounder but not pick 2

i agree Ada, I'd be disappointed if he's involved in the Wilson trade. Weller is by far our most talented youngster

meow meow

Keep him for a year so GC can snap him up next year, after they finish last. So for free.

SportsdaySA Mitch Cleary reporting that its $4 - $5M deal for Lachie.

@SportsdaySA
@cleary_mitch: I understand Lachy Weller has been offered a $4mil 5-year deal by the Gold Coast Suns. The Dockers demanding 2 1st Rd picks

If he is worth that much to the Suns then he has to be a first rounder at the least.

It's surprising how a big contract makes a kid feel homesick.

Someone offered me 4 to 5 mill to change companies, I'd do it in a heartbeat. And you're lying to yourself if you say you wouldn't do it (or at least strongly consider it).

Absolutely I would.  I said in the trade rumours thread that I would move away from home for that kind of money.  I just hate that they call it "Homesickness".  It's called money.

I believe that Fremantles offer wasn't too shabby either.

Havent heard what the $$ are but was definitely a 4 year extension.

I heard, not that it holds any water, that it was four years and $800,000 per year.
