There is a chance Phillips will lose his DPP but KB is happy to take that chance. Phillips is a ball magnet however so it was a big decision to move him on but we do have the depth in the fwds and mids to cover. Longer and Hickey were very disappointing last year for us so we were on the lookout for another first choice young ruck that fitted the team age. Darcy showed enough in 2017 for us to believe he is a great fit for the Giants squad.

Winchester give: Alex Witherden + Ryan Clarke + N35

This trade is one of the reasons I love XV's so much, thanks to Rusty for being such a straight & stand-up bloke during negotiations, and I think this'll be a huge weight off his shoulders now that this is finalized.

David Zaharakis is obviously proven, but you'd imagine he is either at his scoring roof, or quite close to it. Still a very handy acquisition for Rusty with how his team is heading at the moment as he continues to push up the ladder.

Witherden is a 18-year old defender averaging 137 rounded. Not sure I really need to say too much else. :P

Alex Neal-Bullen can obviously find the pill, super sad to see him go, but I rate the player coming back slightly higher as a long-term prospect overall, so the pick upgrade is there both to counter that and to elevate me above the next highest offer that Rusty had for Witherden.

i'm aware i could be slightly losing this trade considering Leuy not best 22 however should be noted Roughy very injury prone

also Leuy is very important to my flag push and Rusty was hesitant about trading a ruck so i had to offer one in return

Leuy is more valuable to KB than me as ruck backup to Bellcho. Roughead has had injury issues and not a massive scorer, but can hopefully be ready to step up if and when I need him.

I wanted to get someone younger in defence, probably overpaying but ah well. KB was looking for another starting defender, and Vinny gets McEvoy to fix up his rucks to go with Ceglar, along with Sandilands in the last year of his career most likely. Also gets Barlow who should still have another 3 years or so to increase his scoring power.
