Only 7 guys playing for Stanford, this isn't going to end well for us I reckon :X runners-up is solid enough though! And good on Josh Begley, making his debut in the grannie.

Well, well, well. Missing Captain Pendlebury, Vice-Capt Selwood and Dep. Vice-Capt Neale. If I win this, this Boston team simply MUST go down as the greatest of all time.

Fire up boys, I BELIEVE.

Pidge named twice, I'll check your list if you don't fix it to find a suitable replacement player (although I doubt you'll need it :P)

I think you're forgetting my awesome premiership side ;) we went 17-1 that season with 14 on the trot, and beat Boston four times by 1, 3, 10, and 2 points!

Previews coming soon

Jukes

As aforementioned, here are the official previews!

In our league grannie, Boston will battle to become the first two-time premiership team, while Carolina aim to get vengeance for last season's grand final loss and their semi-final loss, and complete the double crown (minor premiership + premiership). Boston will obviously be missing 3 of their best 4 midfielders in Selwood, Pendlebury, and Neale which will certainly hurt, and probably swing the favouritsm Carolina's way. Pendlebury will be sorely missed, as he has won the Grand Final MVP two years on the trot, but his teammates will hope to pull them up - Goldstein, Laird, Howe, Gray, Priddis, Cotchin, Guthrie (with San Francisco), Riewoldt, Dahlhaus, Wingard (with Detroit), and Bastinac aim to join the small group of two-time champions, alongside Andrew Swallow and Leigh Montagna, while all Carolina players are playing for their first flag.

Adding up the averages of all the players, I get to a score of Carolina 1842 Boston 1758, and I reckon that's a reasonable scoreline to forecast for this game. I'll be tipping Carolina by a goal or so.

Meanwhile in the reserves, Nevada are after a double crown of their own, having stormed to the minor premiership and don't look like slowing down in their chase to be our first Reserves premiership team. They've won 12 on the trot and it'll be a big ask for the patchy Stanford Cardinal to overcome - they took it right up to them in the Semi Final but just fell short - to be honest it's a miracle we've been able to compete so hard all season given a huge injury toll to both the San Francisco best XVIII and our depth players, but we're here and proud to be runners-up/cannon fodder! Averaging out the teams' players, it comes to Nevada 755 Stanford 498 (with a team average of 71 inputted for debutant Begley), so yeah definitely doesn't look good but oh well - we've done better than ten other reserves sides! I'll tip the Coyotes by four goals.

Fairly uneventful first night of our grand finals...

Carolina 192/2, Sub Played (59)
Boston 0/0

Nevada 0/0
Stanford 33/1

Also, just remembered I'm going to be at the Freo-Richmond game so I won't be able to update the thread with Sunday scores until I get home...I'll have the Saturday night scores up so it'll be pretty easy to add up who wins, and when I get home I'll do the official score+review+presentations.

Score Update

Carolina: 1319 add Roberton, McDonald, Martin (c), Rioli, and Sub (currently 45->59)
Boston: 1365 add Cotchin (c), Goldstein, Riewoldt, and Sub (currently 68->Bastinac)

Huge final day of this clash coming up! Boston have a 46-point lead, but Carolina have an extra player to come. Carolina have had a lot of big scores (5 100+ scores to 2, with two of them being 144s by their VC and EVC), but definitely their fair share of bad scores - Bontempelli's 45 was atrocious, as were scores of 58, 59 (sub), 61, 63, and 66, while Boston's lowest score has been 68 - more than those half-dozen Carolina scores, but were obviously kept down by a lower ceiling, with only Priddis and Laird breaking 100, but to their credit they were in the 120s. A ton (8) of scores in the 80-95 bracket (well, 79-96) might be what costs the Terriers the flag, while lets hope making Atkins (59) the sub over E3 Boekhorst (96) doesn't cost the Panthers. Huge Sunday coming up, and I have a feeling that Dusty vs Cotchin captain battle will be what decides this game.

Current Best
Carolina: Kelly, Docherty, Menegola, Ward, Kennedy
Boston: Priddis, Laird

Nevada: 343 add Stretch (c), Harmes, Petracca, and Gresham
Stanford: 344 add Thompson and Close

Yup - we're winning! Don't give us much of a chance of that lead surviving too late into tomorrow though...maybe until about 1:15pm EST? Would need an absolute miracle to get up, like a late out and three 30s for Nevada and Thompson and Close to score well - none of which I see happening. Peter Wright was a disappointing captain, should've given it to centurion Tom Stewart, who will likely miss out on the BOG honours as Lynden Dunn scored a point extra for Nevada, while I reckon Josh Begley was a bit robbed by CD...2 goals and 3 goal assists doesn't scrape a 70?

Best
Nevada: Dunn, Moore, Bews
Stanford: Stewart, Begley

League Grand Final Result

Carolina Panthers 19.7.121 defeated Boston Terriers 17.10.112
(Real: 1817 vs 1684)

Wasn't really all that close in the end as the Panthers storm home to become our fourth champions, adding 484 points to 296 today to win semi-comfortably - and, as I predicted, the captain battle was huge - Dusty scored 130, while Cotchin could only manage 64 (less than half) to really dictate the way this game went. Boston probably can't use injuries as an excuse either, as Selwood+Pendlebury+Neale PROBABLY wouldn't have made up the 133 point difference. Nice redemption for Carolina too, having been beaten handily 139 to 112 in last year's grand final and they'll be going into next season as favourites as well you'd imagine - could Kelly, Bont, Docherty and Dusty get even better? While Boston will say goodbye to retiring players Riewoldt, Murphy, Kelly, and Priddis (who at least went out with a nice score). Josh Kelly and Sam Docherty split BOG honours with their 133s.

Best
Carolina: Kelly, Docherty, Martin, Menegola, Ward, Kennedy
Boston: Priddis, Laird

Sam Docherty and Josh Kelly are the co-Americas Bowl MVP
Carolina Panthers are the 2017 Americas Bowl Champions!

(Yes I know Bont scored literally the lowest score on the ground, but he's the only player I could find with a trophy from the side!)

Reserves Grand Final Result

Nevada Desert Coyotes 10.6.66 defeated Stanford Cardinal 7.5.47
(Real: 659 vs 471)

It was obvious from the outset - the Coyotes continued their fantastic run of 13 straight wins and capture the inaugural ASC Reserves premiership with a pretty comfortable win over the Cardinal, who are pleased to have just made the occasion. It was always going to be a tough task to beat the best team in the comp with only seven players (including two spuds in Close and Smedts and a debutant), but I'm proud of the boys nonetheless - just a bit annoyed Stewart missed out on the MVP by a point! Lynden Dunn was the BOG with 102 in the nineteen-point victory, now to see if they can continue their winning run into next year and take out a back-to-back flag?

Best
Nevada: Dunn, Moore, Petracca, Gresham, Bews
Stanford: Stewart, Thompson, Begley

Lynden Dunn is the Americas Bowl (R) MVP
Nevada Desert Coyotes are the 2017 Americas Bowl (R) Champions!
