General consensus is that Judd is a far better player but there is more to a player than what he does on the field imo. For example, Daniel Cross showed amazing initiative in healing from a broken leg by drinking some Chinese soup with cow bones in it, so that all the minerals from the bones helped speed up his recovery time. To me, this shows that he was a senior player that knew that he was vital to his team and his absence meant that they were missing a key part of their midfield's engine room. But as I said before, Judd was probably a better player, being a dual Brownlow medallist and a 6 time All-Australian. While Judd did show some on field smarts; such as shaving his head to make him more aerodynamic so that he didn't lose any speed as he aged, nothing jumps out about his off field initiative. Moreover, Judd clearly thinks about his life and his whole family's life has to revolve around footy, which was shown when Judd had a boy on purpose just so he could continue his father's legacy as a football player, even though he may not want to. Furthermore, Judd has a lot more talent around him, with star players such as Marc Murphy, Matthew Kreuzer and Breece Gibbs to support him and take the load off him, while Cross only had minors such as Mark Jamar, Tom Couch and Michael Evans. Cross was also shown to be a less selfish player, hand balling more than kicking but Judd was more selfish and clearly had himself captain in DT every week so he kicked it more often to get those extra points. On the 4th of October 2007, Cross leapt into the water of Victoria harbour in Hong Kong to rescue a suicidal schoolgirl. Despite her wanting to be saved, when he emerged from the water with her, he had visible cuts and bruises. He was awarded a certificate of commendation by the Hong Kong Director of Marines, showing that his greatness extended to off the field as well. Something that they had in common was the horrible extend of they retirements, which would still be annoying them to this day with Cross getting knocked out being hard at the ball like he always has, and Judd suffering a horrific ACL injury. The support shown by the crowds was amazing however, with both of them getting standing ovations; showing that they are both legends of the game. Anyway those were just a few thoughts sitting in my head, what do you lads reckon?
