We're getting closer to finals and you may need to maximise your points just to get there. I'm here to help you pick the best captains. For those new to the forums, each week I will tell you some statistics on a player's last 3 games, their last 3 against this week's opponent, and their last 3 at this ground. I will also do a quick overview on my thoughts and have a guess at their score for this week. From all this, I'll give you my top 5 captain choices for the week. Requests probably won't happen this year but feel free to point out anyone obvious I've missed.

The facts & thoughts:

T. Mitchell
Last 3: 135, 117, 141 (131 avg)
Last 3 against GWS: 75, 98, 111 (95 avg)
Last 3 at Launceston: 132, 125 (129 avg)

Very good last week and very good in Launceston. The concern is that he's not great against the Giants. I'm still backing him in. Prediction - 125

Treloar
Last 3: 98, 122, 116 (112 avg)
Last 3 against Essendon: 144, 129, 102 (125 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 98, 122, 116 (112 avg)

Treloar absolutely loves to play against the Bombers. Last week's score was disappointing but expect a big bounce back for sure. Prediction - 125

Sidebottom
Last 3: 100, 124, 133 (119 avg)
Last 3 against Essendon: 90, 144, 91 (108 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 100, 124, 133 (119 avg)

Sidey is still the in-form Magpie and has scored well against the Bombers before. One to look at for a POD. Prediction - 115

Merrett
Last 3: 78, 120, 151 (116 avg)
Last 3 against Collingwood: 137, 66, 86 (96 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 101, 150, 137 (129 avg)

Merrett was very, very disappointing last week. I can't imagine it will happen again but it raises concerns. He was big against the Pies on ANZAC Day and should be good again at the 'G. Prediction - 130

J.P. Kennedy
Last 3: 100, 118, 102 (107 avg)
Last 3 against Gold Coast: 124, 119, 60 (101 avg)
Last 3 at SCG: 118, 112, 112 (114 avg)

JPK loves playing the Suns and is in great form. This one's a very safe bet if you're happy for a 120ish. Prediction - 120

Parker
Last 3: 148, 100, 83 (110 avg)
Last 3 against Gold Coast: 121, 102, 166 (130 avg)
Last 3 at SCG: 100, 108, 66 (91 avg)

Parker was big last week and is also big against the Suns. Strongly consider him if you have him in your team. Prediction - 130

Ablett
Last 3: 127, 91, 153 (124 avg)
Last 3 against Sydney: 124, 146, 84 (118 avg)
Last 3 at SCG: 84, 96, 67 (82 avg)

GAJ is great against Sydney. Well, GAJ is great against most teams. He's not very good in Sydney though which is my biggest concern. Still, I'd back him. Prediction - 125

Zorko
Last 3: 124, 45, 157 (109 avg)
Last 3 against Geelong: 65, 89, 59 (71 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 45, 131, 119 (98 avg)

Zorko bounced back last week, just as I thought he would. This week, however, he plays a team he sucks against. Way too risky with that history and better options. Prediction - 95

Dangerfield
Last 3: 142, 134, 116 (131 avg)
Last 3 against Brisbane: 112, 107, 95 (105 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 112, 86, 85 (94 avg)

Danger is killing it right now and plays against the Lions this week. The Lions did keep Merrett to 78 last week but this is Danger we're talking about. Prediction - 130

Selwood
Last 3: 2, 48, 117 (56 avg)
Last 3 against Brisbane: 102, 114, 146 (121 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 102, 104, 121 (109 avg)

Joel will bounce back. I'm certain of it. He has an incredible history against the Lions and is good up north. Prediction - 120

Duncan
Last 3: 95, 99, 100 (98 avg)
Last 3 against Brisbane: 114, 123, 57 (98 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 114, 55, 72 (80 avg)

On form alone, I can't back him, but he's good against the Lions. Prediction - 100

D. Martin
Last 3: 131, 96, 100 (109 avg)
Last 3 against St Kilda: 86, 98, 80 (88 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 164, 99, 103 (122 avg)

Dusty sucks against the Saints and I'm genuinely concerned this week. His form is a bit inconsistent as is so the risk is greater than the reward. Prediction - 90

Neale
Last 3: 117, 96, 108 (107 avg)
Last 3 against North: 86, 132, 97 (105 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 104, 132, 106 (114 avg)

Lachie Neale is great at Etihad so expect a good score this week. Not enough going for him otherwise though. Prediction - 115

Docherty
Last 3: 132, 126, 143 (134 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 101, 108, 106 (105 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 132, 126, 101 (120 avg)

Docherty is probably your best option on form alone this week (unless you have the next guy). He's good but not great against the Dees, but they'll have nobody to Bugg him this week (see what I did there?). Form is too good to ignore. Prediction - 130

Gibbs
Last 3: 160, 104, 194 (153 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 93, 119, 99 (104 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 160, 104, 98 (121 avg)

Holy crap Gibbs. Ceiling is crazy this season. Prediction - 130

Murphy
Last 3: 130, 90, 104 (108 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 125, 68, 75 (89 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 130, 90, 103 (108 avg)

Good last week and good last time he played the Dees. All of a sudden, the Blues are seriously good. Prediction - 125

Kreuzer
Last 3: 122, 101, 112 (112 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 70, 80, 110 (87 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 122, 101, 98 (107 avg)

Kreuz is poor against Melbourne but his form is great. I can't imagine he doesn't do well this week. Prediction - 115

Gaff
Last 3: 130, 101, 106 (112 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 82, 44, 76 (67 avg)
Last 3 at Subi: 101, 106, 124 (110 avg)

Gaff has surprised me recently after it looked like he wasn't that great any more. Unfortunately for his owners, he absolutely stinks against Port. Prediction - 85

LAHUG'S ROUGHIE OF THE WEEK!

In this segment, I'll talk about someone that, because of stats and/or gut feeling, I think will go huge this week. It'll usually be somebody that you wouldn't usually give the C to but, if you have him and are feeling brave, might be worth a look.

Hannebery

Six weeks ago, Dan smashed a 159 and showed he was back in form. Then, over the last three weeks, he's disappeared. Dan loves playing the Suns and my gut screams he'll go huge. Gutsy prediction - 145

I ended up going with Duncan. Mitchell's first quarter was ridiculous though.

Had Mitchell in DT and Merrett in AF. Thought I was getting my 3rd bad captain score in a row in AF as Merrett started slowly and then went off from the Greenwood hit. He at least pushed it up to a respectable score.
