I have Nankervis/Martin for ruck and Soldo/Preuss for reserve.

Should I...
trade Martin for Grundy, and trade Preuss next week for 150k player
trade Martin for Darcy, and trade Preuss next week for Martin/Grundy

It's Sean Darcy's first game and if he does well, he might have a big salary jump?  I don't need the points this week as my head-to-head opponent has 3 less players.

What do you think?

Go Grundy this week I reckon. If something goes wrong next week you might not be able to trade him in. Wouldn't imagine that Darcy would go up much anyway.

I don't know what Darcys price is, but if a $150k player scores 100 they only go up about $30k. Definitely go Grundy.

Wait, why trade Stef? Makes me worried because I traded him in for Nank this week :X

Stefan had a stinker of a game last week, only made 69.  And this week his BE is a high 138pts, which he hasn't achieved yet, so he'll definitely lose money this week.  And he'll lose a lot if he gets another 70+ sub-performance.

Nankervis last game was 76, but his average is 88 anyway, so he's within his zone.  His BE is also high, 108.  But he had reached that once before.

So I decided to trade out Stefan instead.

Ahh I see where you're coming from but I disagree. Yes he was poor last week and yes he'll drop in $$$ a bit (Footywire predicts $13k), but he's still in the top 2-3 AF rucks in the comp with Grundy and Kreuzer so I'd lock him in and focus on other areas, like Nankervis who averages almost 20 points less than Stef and has injury worries for this week (and even if he does play he'll be going in with Maric also in the team), or playing with rookies to make an extra 50-100k, get an extra playing guy on the bench, and use that money elsewhere.

Good luck on that.  Just remember Lions are up against Giants, and he'll be up against big Mumford.

Why not get Grundy instead, he'll sure earn some money this week.  <-- (ignore that, $42k price diff)

And I already have Grundy aha

I'm confident Grundy+Stef will be the winning ruck combo tbh

There you go!

Though consider this:  Trade Nank $481k/88ave to TomBellchambers $418k/88ave.  You'll have $63k in the bank PLUS anything Tom will be earning this week.  Tom BE=54.  Just trying to help you out.  Then next week (if you really want Stef), you can trade Tom to Stef.

Not saying that Grundy/Stef is not a perfect combination, maybe just not this week (as Stef will be losing money).

Never trade out your fit premiums.

That's a painful lesson.  Hope it's not too late...

Peter

Don't trade fit premiums, but do trade under performing premiums or players with a change of role. Traded in Darcy for R16 and same score as Stefan. Now gives me the cash for Zorko and Lyons. Next week start upgrading premiums to ubers, because of the $300k

At the time of this thread, Darcy was coming in to play his first game. Scoring potential was unknown, Sandilands was back in a week. After his first game he was going to play with Sandi, so not expected to keep his scoring going. So no way would I have traded Stef to him a that point. Before either of those two weeks sure, get him on the bench like you would any other rookie.

Heading into last week though it was definitely a safe trade to go Stef to Darcy. Yep if you went two weeks earlier you'd be feeling even better, but I think those that did have gotten lucky :P

I was a little lucky that I picked up Darcy when he was playing his first game as ruck cover, but last week I moved on Stefan Martin to put Darcy as R2 so I could upgrade a rookie to a premium on another line.

Only Jarrod Witts has attended more ruck contests than Sean Darcy since Round 14. #SuperCoach #AFLFantasy @freodockers

I thought this was a very good stat to know for people considering having him as ruck 2.

Freo look to be putting the faith in him and with Fyfe perhaps back in form, Mundy back soon hopefully you would think he could be a useful R2 for a month or soo if you don't have a full premium team.

The major risk I guess is that he could be rested as he is still a rookie.
