Gigantor

I think it was just a mistake, my first call was knee, on the replay it just missed it before hitting the shin so the ump probably just got it wrong

Other thing that bugged me... is since when was it ok to 'shepherd' the man on the mark??

Thought I saw Dogs players do that on at least 2 occasions??

Hawthorn and Collingwood have been doing it for years. I thought there was a 5 meter protected area around the man on the mark.

Does anyone have a rule book?
That Hawkins tackle on Murphy, Murphy hits the ball on his shin... that's not a legal kick is it??

Did I hear the channel 7 commentary call that incorrect call by the umpire?
Knee and above is not a legal kick. Below the knee is legal.

To be honest I think the umpire was just a bit quick on the whistle, a chase down over about 20 odd meters usually is holding the ball every time due to the copious amount of prior opportunity. Bit of bad luck for murph as I thought he did get it with his boot but did have an awful long time to get rid of the call and did get run down
So just too much prior opportunity then??
With the kick or non-kick as it may be was irrelevant?

Cheers GL, I thought it had to be on the boot/foot...

I think that's what the umpiring department will come out and say next week once the media gets a hold of it and questions the decision

That's a fair call to me... Murph had it for a while and went for a 'stroll'... fair amount of prior opportunity...

Didn't Scooter have 17 as well.....

Yup. That's ridiculous. Selwood has always been a tackle machine though. Danger and Smith had 12 and 10 apiece as well.

Watched it a couple of times and think there are two possible decisions here:
1) Murphy caught fair and square and umpire seen him drop the ball. HTB aver day of the week
2) as above but when the ball was dropped he attempted to kick and collected with shin play on.

Can understand both and umpires had a split second to make decision.

Yikes,

What happened Danger?  :( Selwood did have a lot of Hard Ball Gets in that second half though.
