Risky bench vs losing money...

Hi all

I have a trade dilemma. Nankervis suspended, JOM and Swallow going to lose cash, Parfitt, Fisher, Eddy, Stewart out, Newman on extended bench.

I can field a full team but have a lot of rookies on (Hampton, Marchbank, Otten, SPP, Taranto, WHE, Houston, Balic, Turner), and basically no bench. My original trade plan was to trade out Swallow and JOM, move Balic from fwd to mid and bring in Parsons, and then either Dahl or Adams also to mid and bring in a fwd or defender. JJK up front or Doch in def.

Current prem fwds I have Nank, Dahl and Macrae, def I have Adams, Laird and Hurley. I think a prem def is probably more urgent need, but 575 is a lot to pay for Doch, he'll surely come down. 508k is a good price for JJK, and I reckon he will be a top fwd even though he is a KPP. But now given I will have poor bench cover, dropping JOM and Swallow when they're playing is a risk if there's a late out. Should I hold JOM and Swallow even though they'll lose cash, and trade out elsewhere? I have heaps in the bank (800k)...

Rather than paying top dollar for Docherty, I'd be looking for a cheaper/discounted defense keeper like Shaw/Williams/Lloyd or perhaps take a gamble on Hibberd?

This season more so than previous years it's going to be difficult to generate cash to complete our teams imo, so saving here and there can make a huge difference in the long run.

Docherty wont drop much more than what he is now IMO.

He is the premier defender in the comp for a reason.

Only takes 1 bad game for his price to have a big drop though. I'm just hoping it happens soon coz I don't have him :(

yeah but his scoreclast week was his biggest all season. he hasn't pumped out that bog of scores thos year

To be honest I hadn't really looked that hard at Doch's individual scores, last week has pumped his average up a fair bit, I definitely don't think he's worth 575 now. Was averaging 105 before the one big game. Still definitely a top defender, but not worth 575 imo.

I'm now thinking I might grab Bont this round, Greene next week and Rocky after that, hopefully in that time Doch throws in a bad round and starts coming down...
