trade help? avoid donut or go for points?

24 trades in hand, 93k in the bank, top 750 overall

My concerns: Greene, Nank, Eddy, Cameron in my team. Let's assume Eddy and Cameron aren't named as expected for hypothetical purposes so at this stage I will have a donut in my forward line.

Trade 1:
Otten > EVW
Parfitt > Pendlebury

Pros: Pendles, enough said.
Cons: Otten might not have hit his peak in price so trading him early might hurt if he comes out and scores a few 90+. In saying that, he's the only player high enough in price to be able to allow me to upgrade Parfitt to Pendlebury (the upgrade I want next)

Trade 2:
Parfitt > Parsons
Eddy > Black

Pros: avoids the donut
Cons: Eddy to Black is as sideways as you get and will only make a lousy 10k. A trade for a donut, is it worth it? Also, eliminates Eddy as a useful loophole option.

Trade 3:
Parfitt > Parsons
Hampton > EVW

Pros: money in the bank and culls two rookies who are close to maxing out. I can then use the money next week to upgrade rookies such as SPP, Houston or Taranto who will rise a lot more in price, making Pendlebury easier to afford next week. Gives me more downgrade options in the future as well.
Cons: less total points than the other options as neither cover a prem coming in, or the donut in the forward line.

So it's basically avoid the donut at the cost of a trade, get Pendles in asap despite maybe the players I trade make a bit more cash or continue doing smart trades to generate cash and cop the donut on the chin.

What do you guys think? Chasing a PB finish, couldn't care about league. So really I want top 100 but I'm deadset stuck with this decision this week :(

Burning Otten this week is a risk - he has shown he can score well and despite players coming back in for Adelaide he looks the most likely of the def rookies to keep up the scoring to my mind.

Having said that I've moved him on for similar reasons to you. I think it's worth the risk. Option 1  8)

Thanks for the advice mate, I have a good chance to get Pendles in now. He has his lowest be and price that he will likely have for the rest of the season, a good bye round. I think I gotta accept the donut in the forward line and pull the trigger and get him while I can.

If you are going for overall and don't care about leagues you need to avoid the donut. (Risk plummeting near the end if you run out of trades though.)

While you are set on Pendles it might be better longer term to go the double downgrade and upgrade Pendles next week, he won't rise much in price even if he goes huge.

My first trade would be Partfitt to Parsons (If named). Then see where your donut is and go the double downgrade or a different prem to avoid the donut.

Yep Parfitt has to go being out for so long so Parfitt to Parsons/Black whoever is named,

If Eddy is named problems solved but if not as LS says look at how to avoid the donut especially with a relative overall at this stage.

Far more inclined to reply when someone does not put    TOP 750, 500, 1400 etc.       Sitting in 30000 and butting my head on a brick wall for all the stupid errors and lack of committment to initial plans.

My post wasn't intended a brag post, more pointing out I'm going for overall, not league wins and in a good position to do so. Top 750 is hardly anything worth bragging about anyhow lol

bkimm,   no need to be sorry mate,  just frustrated at my decision making this year and execution of trades.   dug myself into a hole.    New goal is top 3000 for me now.   I take league games seriously  but overall ranking is more important to me.

Trading otten to evw -20 points, trading Parfitt to pendlebury +60 points = 40 points

So Ill only be down by around 15 points, I won't have a wasted trade sideways trading Eddy.

Is this poor thinking?

paint up and down and get keeper is great trade.   nobody can tell if black, evw, parsons will be best choice so go with what helps your overall structure

Well beams out wrecks everything. So I'll probably trade him up to Pendles now, and likely Eddy > parsons.

Why not Parfitt to Parsons as he is out for 8-10 weeks. Eddy may return due to good form in the reserves, highly unlikely but Parfitt a better option to trade out I think.

At least it gives me 120k left over instead of nothing to upgrade next week. Hopefully that makes up for the lack of points I'll get for the donut
