Week 1:
DEF: Adams, Laird, Mills, Marchbank, Hampton, Otten (Hibberd, Smith)
MID: Dangerfield, Rockliff, T.Mitchell (C), Fyfe, Beams, O'Meara, Swallow, Powell-Pepper (Parfitt (E), Barrett)
RUC: Martin, Witts (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Riewoldt, Dahlhaus, Steele, Nankervis, Hoskin-Elliott, Butler (Eddy, Pickett)
Forgot to set my (VC) on Adams and lost 26 points, oops.

Score: 2,177
Total: 2,177
Rank: 3,731

Week 2:
Trades: NRoo/Smith (OUT), Franklin/Newman (IN) - Pretty self explanatory these ones.

DEF: Adams, Laird, Mills, Marchbank, Hampton, Otten (Hibberd, Newman)
MID: Dangerfield (C), Rockliff, T.Mitchell, Fyfe, Beams, O'Meara, Swallow, Powell-Pepper (Parfitt, Barrett)
RUC: Martin, Witts (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Franklin, Dahlhaus, Steele, Nankervis, Hoskin-Elliott, Butler (Eddy, Pickett)

Score: 2,224
Total: 4,401
Rank: 306
Bank: $252,000

Mills is the weak link currently, so he his gone this week and I will hold Hibberd until a DEF rookie presents themselves to sideways to. Z.Merrett is going to be a must to win it this year, looks like he's picked up where he left off. The question is how long can you go without him before you start falling behind? I can bring him in this week with the cash in the bank, but it would required to move on Mills/Swallow to Burton/Zerrett at a minimum, but it would leave my defence exposed with Burton @ D3.

The lesser point option, but probably better cash generation and team structure for the early rounds is to swap Mills/Pickett to Docherty/Balic (or Houston) this week and when I cash out on O'Meara/Swallow in 4-5 weeks, thats when I can bring in a big gun (ala Zerrett). Those are the two options I'm weighing up this week.

Week 3
Trades: Mills/Hibberd OUT, Docherty/Berry IN

DEF: Adams, Laird, Docherty, Marchbank, Hampton, Newman (Otten, Berry)
MID: Dangerfield, Rockliff (C), T.Mitchell, Fyfe, Beams, O'Meara, Swallow, Powell-Pepper (Parfitt, Barrett)
RUC: Martin, Witts (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Franklin, Dahlhaus, Steele, Nankervis, Hoskin-Elliott, Butler (Eddy, Pickett)

Score: 2,203
Total: 6604
Rank: 774
Bank: $13,000

O'Meara and Powell-Pepper were let downs this week with both Parfitt and Barrett on the bench putting up 90s.

With such limited funds in the bank, there's not much that can be done. Will give Berry another week to stake his claim. Might be worth forgoing Pickett and bringing in Williamson if named this week.

Week 4
Trades: JOM/Eddy OUT, ANB/Williamson IN

DEF: Adams, Laird, Docherty, Marchbank, Hampton, Newman (Otten, Williamson)
MID: Dangerfield, Rockliff (C), T.Mitchell, Fyfe, Beams, Neal-Bullin, Swallow, Powell-Pepper (Berry, Barrett)
RUC: Martin, Witts (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Franklin, Dahlhaus, Steele, Nankervis, Hoskin-Elliott, Butler (Parfitt, Pickett)

Score: 2,138
Total: 8,742
Rank: 111
Bank: $26,000

Capt'n Rocky bringing the goods this week despite SPP, Swallow and Hampton on field combining for not even 130 points.

Berry is looking like a failed rookie so downgrade to Balic to free up some cash along with SPP to Fisher if named. Gives me $160k in the bank. Need to start looking at bringing in another premium in the coming weeks. Maybe one more double down next week to up Nank/WHE to Macrae/Reiwoldt the following.

Wow, looking good man!

Fisher in a good option I'd say. Balic also looked solid on the weekend.

Cheers. Probably getting to the point where I should pay more attention. Or maybe that's why I'm going swimmingly. Just an assessment after lockout, come back after teams are announced, make my choice and move on. Maybe not over-complicating things is the way to go.

Got to about 600 overall last year before having 6 injured premiums on the bench two weeks later. That was the end of that.

Just have to get that cash turning over for now. Houston would have been a real gem but you can't win them all.

Week 5
Trades: Witts/Berry OUT, Spencer/Polson IN

DEF: Adams, Laird, Docherty, Marchbank, Hampton, Otten (Newman, Williamson)
MID: Dangerfield, Rockliff (C), T.Mitchell, Fyfe, Beams, Neal-Bullin, Swallow, Powell-Pepper (Parfitt, Barrett)
RUC: Martin, Spencer (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Franklin, Dahlhaus, Steele, Nankervis, Hoskin-Elliott, Butler (Polson, Pickett)

Score: 2,224
Total: 10,966
Rank: 222
Bank: $227,000

Spencer was a let down, think I made the right call in the end and another 40 from him would have put me inside the top 100 but not to be. Slightly disappointed but it is what it is, had a good feeling about him.

Nankervis was on the block this week but his new BE will keep him around so he can cover in the rucks for now. Will either cut my losses with D.Swallow or move on WHE this week and bring in Z.Merrett/Sloane/Treloar and a rookie for Spencer. Bringing in one of them should cover lost points pretty fast.

Week 6
Trades: Spencer/Swallow OUT, Z.Merrett/Black IN

DEF: Adams, Laird, Docherty, Marchbank, Hampton, Newman (Otten, Williamson)
MID: Z.Merrett, Dangerfield, Rockliff (C), T.Mitchell, Fyfe, Beams, Neal-Bullin, Powell-Pepper (Parfitt, Barrett)
RUC: Martin, Nankervis (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Franklin, Dahlhaus, Steele, Hoskin-Elliott, Butler, Black (Polson, Pickett)

Score: 2,036
Total: 13,002
Rank: 363
Bank: $33,000

Little disappointing to drop 2 weeks in a row given the midfield I'm now rolling with. WHE got saved with Swallow missing which was a blessing in disguise.

Need to fix some of the rookie but ANB/Nank have thrown a spanner in the works. Really hope that Preuss/Cameron get called up because I really don't want to upgrade to Grundy to complete my Rucks with Cox still floating around, but I also don't want to cop a 0 in the position I'm in....

Ideal trades this week are ANB/Parfitt -> Myers/Balic and bank $377k to do some upgrades next week.

I'm in a similar situation with the exact same ruck setup and also don't really want to trade their yet. I've thought about Big Boy who seems to be in excellent form but then there's the risk he turns back to spud scores and then have to burn another trade in the ruck (I did the failed Spencer experiment as well :( )

Bad luck Rusty, Witts->Spencer two weeks ago was the right move and I'll stand by that. Witts has now had 2 low scores and lost money - was perfect timing. Just unfortunate it played out the way it did, he was tracking with a decent ppm too.

If Preuss/Cameron get a call up, decision is easy - 100% hold.
If neither play but Cox is dropped, i'll probably bite the bullet and trade up.
If none of those situations occur, I am seriously thinking about taking a zero for the week. Like I said, none of the other options I want for now.

Copping a 0 is not ideal, given I've slipped the last few weeks and would like to climb back up again, but short term pain for long term gain. You can still win it (not that I think I will) taking 1 zero but want to give it a fair crack, this might be a risk worth taking to keep the whole team improvement going. I don't want to be burning more trades on this line, not going to improve elsewhere if I keep spending a trade there every other week.

Nank still has some serious coin to make with his recent scores in his price cycle. Doing the double down this week could see me return next week with Nankervis plus 2 premium defenders (Marchbank/Hampton upgrades) or something along those lines and I am kinda ok with this.

Week 7
Trades: Beams/ANB OUT, Sloane/Balic IN - Could have played a smarter money game but given the funds I decided to just lock in the highest averaging, in form player of the comp.

DEF: Adams, Laird, Docherty, Marchbank, Otten, Hampton (Newman, Williamson)
MID: Rockliff (C), Sloane, Z.Merrett, Dangerfield, T.Mitchell, Fyfe, Powell-Pepper, Barrett (Parfitt, Pickett)
RUC: Martin, Nankervis (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Franklin, Dahlhaus, Steele, Hoskin-Elliott, Butler, Black (Black, Polson)

Score: 2,099
Total: 15,101
Rank: 532
Bank: $123,000

Decided to eat a tactical donut this week and surprised I didn't slip further back but the troops stormed home Sunday with an average of 130 from the final 8 players, including captains knock so can't complain.

Parfitt is on the chopping block this week due to injury. Will probably look at Myers despite his lackluster effort and then turn Butler into either Tuohy or Heeney. Should probably start to think about the byes though and Heeney would not sit well with my other FWD premiums, despite price. Tuohy has a friendly bye but leaves me with exactly $0

PowerBug

Is that Parfitt -> Myers and Hampton -> Tuohy? That's what stands out to me as a good idea. Could do WHE -> Yeo/Macrae if you wanted. Or maybe get yeo next week from SPP with another downgrade somewhere?

There's also a few backline rookies at an okay price you could get from Hampton (EVW, McNiece, Berry) which would help with the upgrade as well.

P.S. You named Black twice, at F6 and F7. Assume one is Balic?

You are correct, it's Balic. I will probably hold onto WHE for now, at least another week or two, shouldn't bleed to much but has every chance to have a great score again.

The mix of players I'm looking at this week include a combo of:
OUT: Hampton, Parfitt and Butler
IN: McNeice, Myers, Tuohy and Yeo

Really want Yeo but I either need McNeice to be named or get rid of WHE if not. Next two weeks will probably be Yeo and Tuohy anyway before targetting some GC/Port premos post bye.

Capper

Can you do Parfit and Butler to Yeo and Myers?

Can you do Parfit and Butler to Yeo and Myers?
Afraid not, fall $46k short. I can get the funds for Yeo only if I really go Hampton->McNeice or WHE->Yeo.

Having Hampton/Otten still stuck up the back isn't ideal, seems to be a limiting factor at the moment.

Week 8
Trades: Parfitt/Hampton OUT, Tuohy/Myers IN - Tuohy in to balance byes.

DEF: Adams, Laird, Docherty, Tuohy, Marchbank, Otten, Hampton (Newman, Williamson)
MID: Rockliff (C), Sloane, Z.Merrett, Dangerfield, T.Mitchell, Fyfe, Powell-Pepper, Barrett (Parfitt, Pickett)
RUC: Martin, Nankervis (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Franklin, Dahlhaus, Steele, Hoskin-Elliott, Butler, Barrett (Black, Polson)

Score: 2,126
Rank: 935

Week 9
Trades: Rockliff/Balic OUT, Yeo/Lloyd IN - Again, bye balance.

DEF: Adams, Laird, Docherty, Tuohy, Marchbank, Newman (Otten, Williamson)
MID: Sloane, Z.Merrett (C), Dangerfield, T.Mitchell, Fyfe, Yeo, Myers, Lloyd (Powell-Pepper, Pickett)
RUC: Martin, Nankervis (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Franklin, Dahlhaus, Steele, Hoskin-Elliott, Butler, Barrett (Black, Polson)

Score: 2,270
Rank: 1168
Bank: $266,000

The slide is real. 2 donuts in 3 weeks doesn't help. Plans this week are to move on Butler and Black for J.Selwood and Greenwood.
