Not a bad start last week but was a bit disappointed with Dangerfield not getting that 130 we were after. Onto another week! For those new to the forums, each week I will tell you some statistics on a player's last 3 games, their last 3 against this week's opponent, and their last 3 at this ground. I will also do a quick overview on my thoughts and have a guess at their score for this week. From all this, I'll give you my top 5 captain choices for the week. Requests probably won't happen this year but feel free to point out anyone obvious I've missed.

We have a partial lockout this week for the Richmond vs. Collingwood game which means we can use the CAPTAINS LOOPHOLE!

How it works:

1.   Select a player from the Tigers or Pies as your VICE CAPTAIN.
2.   For now, set your captain to someone worthy of captaincy in another game in case you forget to change it.
3.   IF your VC scores really well, sub a non-playing player onto the field and set them as captain.
4.   Make sure you have an emergency in the position of your non-playing captain!

Note: This has risks if there are any late withdrawals as you won't have cover. I will not accept any responsibility for any such misfortune. Your team, your decision!

The facts & thoughts:

D. Martin
Last 3: 139 (139 avg)
Last 3 against Collingwood: 110, 114, 126 (117 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 139, 86, 132 (119 avg)

Do you have Dusty and do you plan on loopholing? If yes, give him the VC!!! If no, still consider him as captain. He was huge last week and his numbers against Collingwood are pretty good. Add 3 or so goals to an expected 30+ disposals (with a good kick/handball ratio) and you have a ton before you even take into account marks and tackles. Prediction - 125

Pendlebury
Last 3: 135 (135 avg)
Last 3 against Richmond: 67, 98, 94 (86 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 135, 107, 67 (103 avg)

Only here as a VC option. Was good last week but the numbers give me no confidence against the Tigers. Prediction - 100

Treloar
Last 3: 125 (125 avg)
Last 3 against Richmond: 115, 97, 92 (101 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 125, 126, 115 (122 avg)

Treloar scored a solid 115 in his most recent outing against the Tigers but, outside of that, there's not much going for him this week. It's VC only for him. Prediction - 110

Adams
Last 3: 151 (151 avg)
Last 3 against Richmond: 95, 101, 102 (99 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 151, 95, 140 (129 avg)

Adams was HUGE last week and could be worth the VC based on ceiling and chasing points. His history against Richmond, however, leaves much to be desired. Prediction - 100

J.P. Kennedy
Last 3: 118 (118 avg)
Last 3 against Bulldogs: 139, 106, 100 (115 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 118, 106, 134 (119 avg)

JPK played a great game against the Premiers last year and should do so again this week. His history screams a safe done and he might just step up a touch this year with the captaincy. Prediction - 115

Ablett
Last 3: 105 (105 avg)
Last 3 against GWS: 82, 176, 122 (127 avg)
Last 3 at Showgrounds: 82 (82 avg)

You really shouldn't pick him but, prior to last year's 82, GAJ scored 176, 122, 132, 131 against the Giants. Still, a new forward role and older body mean it's too risky to chase the past. Prediction - 105

Gaff
Last 3: 144 (144 avg)
Last 3 against St Kilda: 125, 115, 88 (109 avg)
Last 3 at Subi: 98, 115, 57 (90 avg)

I don't know why his recent history at home is so average but it really looked like Gaff is going to enjoy having Sam Mitchell this year. A 144 last week is a huge start and his form against the Saints means it could continue this week. Prediction - 120

Montagna
Last 3: N/A
Last 3 against West Coast: 129, 113, 123 (122 avg)
Last 3 at Subi: 129, 113, 104 (115 avg)

Joey should be back this week and kills it against the Eagles. Probably too risky to give the C to but, if you have him in a draft league or decided to cop the Round 1 donut to start him, why not? Prediction - 125

Rockliff
Last 3: 127 (127 avg)
Last 3 against Essendon: 179, 125, 147 (150 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 123, 174, 76 (124 avg)

Did you cough up the big bucks for Rockliff this season. If so, it's about to pay even more dividends. Rocky loves playing the Bombers (even before they got suspended) and everything about his form, and how he looked last week, screams he'll go big again. Prediction - 140

Heppell
Last 3: 156 (156 avg)
Last 3 against Brisbane: 93, 127, 94 (105 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 127, 59 (93 avg)

Giving Heppell the C this week would entirely be chasing last week's points. But it's gotta be tempting, right? Prediction - 110

Dangerfield
Last 3: 118 (118 avg)
Last 3 against North: 187, 93, 87 (122 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 105, 95, 143 (114 avg)

Remember Danger's 48 disposals against North? He only had 3 tackles in that game and still managed 187! I don't think he'll get 48 touches again this week but, if you think 30+ and 3 goals is safe against a weak North team, he's still a bloody good choice. Prediction - 125

Gawn
Last 3: 111 (111 avg)
Last 3 against Carlton: 105, 66, 40 (70 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 105, 144, 106 (118 avg)

I stuffed up last week and assumed Spencer would play, hurting Gawn's scoring. His form against the Blues isn't great but, seriously, it's Gawn. Prediction - 110

Fyfe
Last 3: 110 (110 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 95, 124, 130 (116 avg)
Last 3 at AO: 150, 130 (140 avg)

There's no way that Fyfe won't be good this week but I just don't see the captain scores coming quite yet. He showed glimpses last week but just wasn't quite there. I'll wait until I see it before giving him the C. Prediction - 115

LAHUG'S ROUGHIE OF THE WEEK!

In this segment, I'll talk about someone that, because of stats and/or gut feeling, I think will go huge this week. It'll usually be somebody that you wouldn't usually give the C to but, if you have him and are feeling brave, might be worth a look.

Franklin
Last 3: 110 (110 avg)
Last 3 against Bulldogs: 101, 126, 80 (102 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 139, 86, 40 (88 avg)

No Dale Morris. Seriously, that's it. That's why you consider him this week. He'll get a run up the ground so lock in 20 disposals (mostly kicks) and he'll get 10+ marks and could get 5 goals. That's about 115 points right there. Add in a few tackles and we're laughing. Gutsy prediction - 140

The verdict:
1.   Rockliff (140)

2.   Dangerfield (125)
3.   D. Martin (125)
4.   Montagna (125)
5.   Gaff (120)

How is the weather situation going on in QLD?

Will the weather conditions/ground help or hinder some of the players like Zorko, Rocky, Beams, Heppel, Merret?

Cheers

Apparently it shouldn't rain (or rain much) on Saturday and the Gabba drains well. I'd still be cautious with most players from that game but I think Rocky will just replace disposals with tackles and be fine.

Great write up, wish I knew about this a lot sooner!!

VC Adams into Danger for me

Gaff is tempting though  :-\

Thanks mate. They're pinned to the top weekly (usually up on a Tuesday night).

I'm just envious that you have Gaff in your team and I don't.

Had the vc on Grundy, Would you take his 123 or roll the dice on Dangerfield??

Alright team, here's the deal.

I predicted Dangerfield at 125 this week because I think he'll score about 125. He could get more but you'd think his ceiling is about 140, right? His floor, however, is probably around that 80 mark if he has a stinker... OR literally 0 if injury strikes!

Sure, there's a slim chance he backs up last year's effort and gets 180+ but there's probably a better chance he rests forward a lot like last week and only gets 24 possies again (and 3 goals ain't a certainty).

If you had Treloar, Grundy, or WHE as your VC, lock them in and don't be greedy!
