Ryder has been the perfect swingman, already has added 15 points to the coffers with loopholes.

I have to admit, somehow, the round 9 bye that Gold Coast and Port share slipped through the cracks of my somewhat jaded memory. Fair point Spudaroo, Im just going off the article that was posted on the AFL website (linked below) as gospel. He is a superstar and Im sure will bounce back. In the interim though, think I might waste a sideways trade to Dangerfield as I have the money set aside that was for rookie upgrades dependant upon their being named and after I changed from Gawn/Sandilands to Witts/Sandilands. Was happy with all my other lines, so didnt feel the need to upgrade anywhere else. I scored 2150 with Gray, Hanners and Pickett on the field. I also have Tom Lynch, as I feel as Gold Coast improves (sorry if) then surely the delivery and his scoring will also?? He still averaged 93 last year in a poor side. Surely this affirms my decision to poo poo Mr Gray!?
I wasnt aware he had a interrupted preseason Holz, otherwise I would have stayed away, as I did with Cripps and Neale. Anyways, its on the Danger train I go!!

Deadly6

He did cop a knee to the head early on in the game, which never helps.

There was no reason not to have picked 1 or 2 of them if you think they are going to be one of the top scorers on the line and under-priced.

The extra points you gain over the first 8 rounds will offset the one week a rookie has to play instead. Will also be a lot harder for others to bring them in post bye if they've increased their prices after a couple of big games.

So if you chose say a JPK over Gaz and they average the same up to the Gold Coast bye (more than likely) then you're copping a rookie score (70) whilst JPK or other mids go 110+ so you're down 40 points on the rest of the Comp..
So... no reason?

Hawka

Gray is going to very juicy after his bye
could drop well below 100k of his starting price

And if Gaz averaged 5ppg more than you gain the 40ppg and it cancels out :P

Can't really say who was the better option until after round 9 though. Choosing Gaz over Hanners, Touk/Lynch over Caddy, etc has basically already worked out well if they maintain even averages from now on.

I should have thrown numbers in there.

If you think Gaz will go 125, then there was merit in starting him if you believe the next highest averaging player would be around 115, he's 80 points up and then you lose 40 over the bye. You also don't need to worry about finding the money to bring in a 125 averaging player and can focus on cheaper picks.

Time will tell.

FWIW, I opted for no Port/GC players and I don't think they would, but that's not to say others believed it.

Glad I held off trading him out. Has rewarded my faith in him. (Actually I was going to poo poo him after this week)
May have to rethink that trade, as I feel Hanners might be more of an issue. Withstanding the bye, if he continues to play midfield/resting forward, I can see him as a great POD. Thoughts?

Good for you, nothing worse than trading a bloke out and then being hit with a monster score.

Was just coming to find this thread and hope that you didn't trade him out ;)

hahah bairly faithful if you considered trading him out after one week!

Should have inserted smiley/wink face! The previous comment (has rewarded my faith in him) was oozing with sarcasm!!
Makes me think I will hold Hanners too, pretty sure he will turn it all around sooner rather than later. He has been a class player for a long time and I dont expect that would change anytime soon.

quinny88

only concern I would have is that he kicked 6.. he's not gonna kick bags to often so the forward role he's playing may be a bit of a roller coaster
