R5, 2016, Hawthorn 17.10 (112) d Adelaide 17.7 (109) at the MCG
2SF, 2015, Hawthorn 21.9 (135) d Adelaide 8.13 (61) at the MCG

THE SIX POINTS

1. The last time these teams met the Crows won the disposal count 403-353, but the Hawks won the remainder of the important categories - 97-77 tackles, 60-48 inside 50s and 47-38 clearances. Hawthorn's small forwards were the difference with 11 goals between Paul Puopolo and Cyril Rioli.

2. In round one the Hawks had fewer disposals against Essendon and took fewer marks but had more inside 50s and the same number of scoring shots. Luke Breust, Jack Gunston and Puopolo they managed only three goals between them.

3. Hawthorn continues to dominate Adelaide, winning the last seven matches, a club record. The Crows haven't won since the opening round of 2011 at AAMI Stadium.

4. The Crows continue to be the highest-scoring side in the competition, kicking 147 points in round one v the Giants. Since the start of 2016 they’ve averaged 114 points per game and kicked 100 points or more in 18 of 25 games played.

5. The Hawks haven't lost their opening two games of a season since 2009, the last time they missed the finals. Adelaide will be aiming to win its first two games of a season for the second time in the last three years.

6. Nice game for the theatre-goers this one, with the eighth (Rory Sloane â€" 579.7) and ninth-ranked (Cyril Rioli 554.4) in the Schick Official AFL Player Ratings up against each other.

GoLions

Hawks have had the wood over the Crows for a while now, but after what happened against the Dons, and how well the Crows played against the Giants, think the Crows might get a close win here!

Should've won last year at the 'G but we just can't seem to beat Hawthorn. This is our best chance though, just need to not let Cyril and Poppy kill us again and we should be good.

Hawka

Eh i want to be confident but really with the Hawks of 2017 who knows :P

So this is an away game for us obviously, it starts at 1:15 our time and we don't get it on TV til 4. The Power home game is only delayed an hour compared to this, basically three hours for an away game.

I knew we were getting a few away games delayed but I was expecting 30 mins to an hour like we usually do for home games but an away game being delayed that much is a joke.

I understand Vic's don't get to see their team play every week unless they have Fox, which I would die without over there, but that's off set by a much higher accessibility to a lot more games and the Vic sides having more games in Melbourne.

It sucks but its what fans in Victoria (either in the country which i have dealt with, or people who cant afford to go to games) deal with
I get South Aussie fans are used to this , but your still have the Radio coverage on every channel, it sucks that all footy fans dont get live footy but it is the reality these days

Yeah I mentioned that about Vic, it would definitely suck not being able to see their times play at all, I'm sure they'd love it delayed but it's obviously harder with 8 teams compared to our two.

I just don't understand why the delay is so long on an away game though. I don't have Foxtel cause I go to every home game and have the priviledge of getting every away game broadcast but that's just the bonus we get in a two team state. Vic's I assume get the same amount of free to air games as us but in those timeslots, like I said about the bonus of gaving a two team state, we're always gonna get our teams. I just want to know why delay an away game by the whole match basically.

I have a Telstra plan which allows me access to AFL live for free. I watched parts of 7 of the games on the weekend was fantastic and means I don't need foxtel either.

I think Adelaide will win but you would expect a pretty savage response from Hawthorn after last week.

Gotta back Adelaide but that is an impressive run that the Hawks hold in this matchup. Will be interesting to see how the new Hawks respond to a disappointing loss last week.

Mat0369

That should have been deliberate. While Hartigan from 'inside the square', he initially knocked it into that position with the first punch from about 20 out on a bouncing ball. This new interpretation is going to be a mess.

Mat0369

This Hawks team is completely different with Hodge in the side.
