$609,500k or less

I have $609,500 to spend on my last midfielder. MODS didn't know where to post this so merge to appropriate thread if you feel.

So not enough to get JPK or Hanners who would be my number 1 and 2 options.

My obvious choice would be Rocky but I just have a bad gut feeling about him and the Lions. I don't want both him and Beams in a team that will lose most weeks. Could be wrong and upgrade to him later

Sloane is my next preference but he's had a limited pre season and will most likely crawl back into it.

Titch is a no go and so is Steven or any of the Giants mids.

So the bloke I'm really considering is Luke Parker. Do most people see him going 110 and improving with Titch gone or do we see his scores decreasing? Also is it a bad thing to have both he and Treloar who are massive dt guys in the same team.

Please give me your thoughts. Parker's scores against oppo last year for first 5 rounds were 127, 161, 161, 129, 129, 59. Has a huge ceiling but can be incredibly inconsistent. Hoping with Mitchell gone he'll need to step up more. Also a big POD. Thoughts?

I'm in the same boat haha. I ended up grabbing Gawn though which put me Rocky and under. I was debating Sloane vs Jelwood and then Sloane vs Rocky because of the price. I'm leaning towards Rocky because he has the biggest ceiling even though I said I'd never pick him again. I must be a bloody masochist but here are his last 5 scores vs GC

92, 115, 0*, 175 and 155.

I love Parker but I think I prefer Hanners this year looking at their prices. You will probably only be able to bring 1 in as an upgrade so that scraps him for me. Selwood has the best bye but I'm wondering how no 3rd man up and the duck rule hurts the Geelong midfield. Sloane is probably the most consistent on a weekly basis so he shouldn't drop in price unless he gets injured.

I'm debating this question as well but I'm still tempted by Rocky's ceiling and think if we want the 50k we have to take the risk. Especially with 5% ownership which is super low.

I have Jelwood, but am seriously considering switching him to Titch. I really want Titch but don't have him yet

I figure if he can go 104 2 years running as the 4th/5th mid he should easily increase to 110+ as the number 1 mid, plus I bank 40k too

Jelwood vs Titch is my decision, so they're the two I'd pick

I just figure Jelwood will do the ol droppity drop in form and price and be a nice upgrade target. Reason isn't just due to usual yearly trends but no Simonds games early on in the fixture and more time forward for him. Titch just can't hit targets and although he will be a good pick Hawks have never been a real great fantasy side in terms of absolute premium midfielders (think Lewis and SMitch)

Rocky doesn't have a great record playing with both Beams and Zorko and they have a lot of mids, how will it impact him? He is also the most prone to injury.

Parker however is also lowly ownership does everything Rocky does inside and out and kicks more goals. Tackles well too and if he can pick up his possession and efficiency rate he can be a real weapon.

So in terms of risk it's Parker v rocky but can see your side Mat.

Heh (unless we're including injury games)

I actually used the no games in Geelong factor to also help me pass on Selwood. I didn't realise it was so long until a couple nights ago when I needed to downgrade an ultra premium mid to bring in Simmo. Now I'm basically off the mid price bandwagon and want my ultra premium back.

I'm a huge Parker fan, I started him last year and pushed the bandwagon up a hill until everyone jumped on  :P

The thing with Rocky is he has the ceiling that none of these guys do. He would have to play forward for 40% of the game for his scoring to dip. He will find the pill through a sheer weight of numbers. The issue I have with him is he always bloody gets injured or sucks when I pick him. You don't start a season north of 700k unless you can legitimately play which he can. I think he averaged north of 120 for the back end of the season as well. I can see what you're saying with Beams but it worked at Collingwood with Beams, Swan and Pendles so it could also work at Brisbane.

So you honestly see him going 115-120? I just can't see it, I dunno what it is

He's played 2-3 games with Beams and Zorko when all 3 have been playing and not injured during the game. Rocky and Beams both averaged over 120. It's a tiny sample size, but people think Rocky does shower with Beams cause Varcoe and May are cows.

Grab Jobe and pocket the 150k.

So he can score a bunch of 80's and get injured?  :P

Nothing a jab can't fix (or am I not allowed to say that anymore  ;))

Zerrett won't cop a tag. Why not him? Can only improve with the likes of Hep and Watson back in the mids.

Mat0369

I haven't gone Merrett in SC but I have picked him in DT. I think with the quality of guys that have come back in there won't be as much of the pie to go around (like tonight). He uses the bell better then Heppell so if I was to pick one for SC it would be Merrett.

I know that argument kind of sounds redundant considering I'm grabbing Rocky, but Rocky can go off for 200 on any given day.

_wato

I saw the sample size you were talking about GL. However this was 2 years ago and surely Lions have much better depth in the mids and talent across the field. I just don't see Rocky having the big 150+ games with Beams in the side with him. But, he does have the ceiling over the others and the better record. You can't dismiss a bloke whos averaged 132 over a season.

Rocccccky it is

My Chumps

Hope you've gone pure guns n rooks on other lines so you're happy to spend a trade on Rocky when he's inevitably injured! However the 115 average will be nice in the meantime
