Is Taranto worth it?

We're all just looking for secure JS and scoring ability, 200K with his JLT form, I am going with him a F6

Starting 2 or 3 forward rookies? Than Taranto is a must

Starting 1 or none? Then I would pass
This I don't really get.

What rookie would you prefer on field other than Taranto? I'd feel iffy with almost any of them. Florent is a very wobbly maybe, Turner/Simpkin seem to have OK JS but scoring power seems limited.

I think what RD is saying is if you are starting 3 rookies up fwd you need Taranto for his possible scoring ability, he's shown through the JLT he can post a score (Doesn't always translate into the real games but it's all we have to go by) but if you're only starting one on the ground you could go cheaper for someone scoring less because your extra prem's/midpricers should be making up/bettering any shortfall in points.

Thank you Grazz :)

As for Taranto, I had SPP at M8 and am quickly realising how shower all the mid rookies will be so cover is horrible

Think I need SPP at M9 to provide decent cover, and with that I've brought Taranto in at M8

Could eventually loop the two soon too

Agree the scoring power from the mid rookies looks ordinary at the minute, been awhile since we haven't had an obvious choice for a half decent scoring mid rookie to start the year. Myers was a big loss to us, felt confident he could score enough to hold down M8 leaving Taranto up forward but now hmmmm.

I think you need Taranto at M8 and Hoskin-Elliot at F6.

I have Powell Pepper at M9 so he can always go to M8 and Taranto can go to F6 via Pickett (F8) if Nankavis (F3) has to fill in for either Sandilands and Witts.  8)

Taranto M8 with SPP M9 covering mids

Pickett/Eddy forward bench, so Pickett and M10/11 DPP guys can swing around and cover both lines, as can Taranto. If a forward goes down, Taranto replaces via Pickett and SPP comes on

No rookies on field in fwd

Sounds good! You must be starting witts then  ;)

I have Hoskin Elliot at F6 but personally would only trust him or Taranto there out of all the forward rookies.

Haha Grazzy

Going skinny in the rucks with Witts, which allows me to go deep other lines

I figured it would be something along that line mate.
I'm still running Gawn and Goldy at the minute, it's inevitable
that one of those will need to make way for a cheaper option
to strengthen my fwd line up.

PowerBug

Just gotta say, I'm really liking this thread as pretty much everyone is making good points. I read one post and he's in, scroll down and I've taken him out again :P

I think the "pick him" argument is winning, just because a correction trade from Taranto (should he bust) is better than a correction trade to Taranto (should he stud).

I'm going SPS over him. But his fwd/mid DPP and the fact that he's played JLT is obviously a massive tick.

I just rate SPS and his JS, plus much higher chance of mid time over him slightly. Mind the fact for Taranto to make $150k it'll take him a 76 average v SPS who will take a 68 average.
