Really struggling to decide between Rockliff & Treloar, so I thought it was worth a poll vote.

Rockliff has averaged 113, 97, 109, 131, 101 & 111 in the last 6 seasons, which is quite impressive and places him among the games top SC midfielders over this period. However, he hasn't played more than 18 games in a single season over the past 3 years. Note: The 101 Rockliff averaged in 2015 was affected by scores of 0, 57 & 71 where he was knocked out cold, subbed out with broken ribs and rested forward on recovery from injury. Not including these games he would've averaged ~115 that year

Treloar has averaged 106, 105 & 111 over the last 3 seasons. He has played at least 20 games in each of these seasons which makes him more durable than Rockliff. However, he doesn't quite have the illustrious scoring history of Rockliff and he has not yet established himself as a definitive Top 8 midfielder. Many are predicting with natural improvement as a young gun of the competition that he will reach this level in 2017, although it remains speculation at this point.

Both players are priced at ~604k. Who should I choose?

No right or wrong answer, so I'd pick the one who has the better bye for you

Rocky Round 11
Treloar Round 13

Because I wanted to run a poll and hopefully generate some detailed discussion. I also think I've put enough effort into my OP to receive my own thread.

The 'Player X vs Player Y' thread almost always gets one word responses from a single person without any justification. How is that helpful in the slightest?

Treloar probably won't budge in price, Rocky is a good chance to fluctuate wildly due to injury, forward duties and the Beams factor. I'll be looking at him once he drops at bit.

FWIW Rocky averaged 119 last season if you take out his 2 injury games.

When fit, Rocky will be a top 3 mid, guaranteed. But him being fit isn't a guarantee.

Pendlebury, Fyfe & JOM from Round 13.
Just Beams from R11.

Looking to bring in the better one of JPK/Hanners from R11 at some point anyway and offload JOM. Will the comp leaders have finished midfields before the byes regardless? Definitely a possibility I would've thought with Swallow & JOM common M7/M8 choices and who won't require much coin to upgrade.

Beams in has a huge impact on him though GL, how much points do you dock for that?

I posted it somewhere, but iirc he averaged ~126 when both he and Beams were 100% fit.

However that is only based on 2 games.  Although they played a number of games together in 2015 Rocky was suffering concussion and broken ribs in the early games. Personally think they will take points off each other and both will average 115/120.

Which is still elite. Only risk for them is injury imo, scoring will be fine.

Rockliff and Beams have only played together 11 times, with scores as follows:

Rockliff: 71 (broke ribs), 57 (played forward), 0 (knocked out), 97, 91, 120, 103, 126, 101, 135, 41 (hamstring)
Beams: 108, 82, 106, 111, 141, 104, 144, 142, 89 (shoulder soreness), 97 (shoulder soreness), 93

I'm not sure we can conclusively say that Beams has a huge impact on him yet?

Ringo

The 97 and 91 were still after effects on concusssion and a setback with ribs and you are correct with impact and i gave my opinion above and reckon both will end up averaging around the same which is still elite.

The 103 was also with broken ribs haha, broke them about 10 minutes into the game and still played it out for a 100+ score, absolute machine

I dunno, I have my doubts. Especially with Zorko running around flogging the ball from all parts.

It's Rocky v Kennedy for me.

Danger, Treloar, Fyfe my other premiums.

quinny88

Rocky but it's close. Just knowing what he can do is enough for me
