So many mids, so much risk!!

So many mid priced players have made there way into my team which I am not totally happy with as have been a keepers and rooks guy in the past.

Backs: Taylor, Laird, Tuohy, Hampton, Otten, VW / Hibberd, Stewart.

Happy with the 2/1/5 structure as there appears to be the best rookies in defence. Not 100% on Tuohy though based on past years but seems that he is playing a QB role at Geelong.

Mids: Danger, Treloar, Bont, Fyfe, Mitchell, Beams, Steele, O'Meara / SPP, Barrett, Parfitt

Haven't gone superpremo as still a little concerned about Pendles, Ablett, etc... Once again Steele is based on strong numbers during the JLT series. Happy to get peoples advice on his selection. Think Mitchell and Bona will improve by about 5-10 points each this year.

Rucks: Sandi, Witts / Str

Gone very cheap due to Gawn and Goldie maybe sharing the duties this year. Others not sold on such as Brodie, Martin etc...

Forwards: Dal, Macrae, Greene, Roughie, Nank, Taranto / Pickett, Eddy

Strong in the mids with ruck cover.

No Shaw, Pendles or Gawn?

I get what you're doing but Witts will never be a premium.

I would Loose Green or Macrae and put steel in the forwards then use money to upgrade other areas.

None of the three mentioned are locks (I have Pendles and Gawn)

Witts won't be a premium but no one can pick the top two rucks so he could be a smart pick.

Fair call... Just can't see Gawn losing any form. He is the No.1 Ruck in the league by far.

Pendles ankle scare is nothing to be worried about and Shaw is just a Supercoach beast.

Spencer will take a few of his points if he is sharing the ruck duties (which is looking like a real possibility)

Pendles is a lock in my side and I'm happy people jumping ship but he will get cheaper mid season

Agree Shaw is a beast but there is a lot of value in guys like Adams, Laird etc.

I had Gawn in my side until it looked clear that Spencer would probably share the rucking. Have decided to try to make some money in the rucks until Gold and Gawn drop in price or Grundy or Martin step up.

I think Pendles will have a slower start. I know he is used to playing with niggles but see more value in Bont, Treloar, Titch, Fyfe and Beams, etc.

Yes Shaw is a gun but once again feel there is more value in Laird, Adams and the best selection of rookies as the rookies on the other lines are highly unlikely to get games.

Even VW and Hibberd are not locked in for a round 1 berth. If Butler and Pickett are picked in round 1 that could also change the structure considerably.

At the moment:

10 absolute keepers - Laird, Adams, Danger, Treloar, Bont, Fyfe, Titch, Daulhaus, Greene, Macrae
7 Fallen Stars, Break Out, Potential Keepers - Touhy, Beams, JOM, Steele, Sandi, Roughie, Nank
13 Rookies - Hampton, Otten, VW, Hibberd, Stewart, PP, Barrett, Parfitt, Str, Taranto, Pickett, Eddy, Witts

I think in pass years there hasn't been the number of mid price options that could turn into keepers and the rookies cash cows have been more obvious. I have normally tried to have at least 13 Keepers to start and maybe one or two mid pricers. I honestly feel that Touhy, Beams, Steele (as F6), Sandi, Roughie and Nank (Ruck Cover) could all turn into keepers hence saving trades to complete my side sooner than normal.

Mid Price $250k - $500k
Rookies < 250K
Def 3 - 0 - 5
Mids  5 - 3 - 3
Ruck 0 - 2 - 1
Fwd  2 - 1 - 5
Total 10 - 6 -  14
So not a lot different to your structure, Only difference being the choices.
