Coach Phants E. Lee Overjoyed With Early Squad Make-Up (30th March, 2017)

As Round 1 approaches, it is the presence of numerous Gold Rated cards that has Coach Phants in very high spirits. Prior to round 1, gold players Luke Hodge, Josh Smith, Liam Picken and Shane Mumford had joined the team.

"While most of our opposition is desperately scratching for a ruckman, we have been gifted Shane Mumford, affectionally known around these parts as the Mummifier."

Despite Hodge's round 1 suspension, along with a very healthy gold balance. Things were certainly looking okay for the Packi Friends both now and for the future.

Well then... (11th May, 2017)

Fast-forward 6 weeks into the season and things are certainly not okay. Having copped a number of bad packs on the trot, with a very poor gold trade-in in Josh "Old Man" Gibson, Coach Phants was in a less than sociable mood.

"I am done, the season is over. I can't believe how bad my luck is. This is so unfair. Stupid game, Hodge is old, Smith is not worthy of a gold, Howe is inconsistent, Picken gets KO'd too much, Mumford does not score for KOing people and don't even start me on the ring-around-the-rosey in the bloody forward line! F$*($^($&^!"

Despite this all too regular Coach Phants tantrum, star midfielder Liam Picken took over the media responsibilities and was far more level headed in his assessment of things.

"Yeah we have not quite performed to the levels we have expected as a team yet but with Lachie (Whitfield) joining me this week through the middle as well as contributors in Trent (Dumont) and Chris (Masten), we feel the required changes of now been made and we will be able to move forward one week at a time - starting with multi-cultural round this week."

For a team that promised so much, can the Packi Friends turn it around? Or, like their name suggests, are they just a "Little" out of their league this season. Time will tell, watch this space.
