I think a lot of people are

With such a lack of rookies seemingly unavailable this approach will be very common I would think

whynot102

I am thinking to get the quaddy with Murphy as well

djbics

Too big a risk in the one position in my eyes, at this stage I'll be taking the one

I had it at one point with Murphy instead of Beams. I found the cash to turn Swallow into Selwood and have gone with that at the moment. If I need cash I will either go Murphy>Swallow or Sloane>Beams.

Huttabito

Just Beams/JOM at the moment with Brodie at M8. Would need to drop Rance to Mills to allow an upgrade to Swallow.

Yes, unless pleasantly surprised by selected rookies.                      ;)

Ive added the trio to my team, JOM and Swallow were always there but now ive added Beams, at this stage it wll stay that way unless we can find a suitable m8 rookie, which is looking hard

I don't like thinking of Beams as mid priced, because $450k is about the point I consider a player needs to be a keeper for selection and he's pretty close to that mark.

JOM and Swallow will generate some good coin, I've got them both.

Yes. I don't see them as actual mid pricers. Not like banking on a 3-4 year player hoping for a break out. They're all proven guns to differing degrees. So worth it.

I have JOM and Swallow, Beams I don't like becuase there's more downsides than upsides to him. Basically he's a raging success if he scores 110-115 and plays a full season, in which case well done those who pick him.
However, scoring is really the only box he ticks - has gone 115 in last season at pies, and 113 in first season with lions. Hasn't played a full season in 4 years, and with injury players I like to look at what their injury(ies) are to get an idea of how likely it is to reoccur. Beams had knee surgery for a tendon complaint that they couldn't actually identify the problem. Red flags all over that one - no identified injury, so who knows how he did it. Tendon is soft tissue = stress injury. Put those things together, the chance of reoccurrence is significant IMO. At 450k, he's not a stepping stone, needs to be a season-long success to pay off, I'm not confident on that. But I understand why people are taking the risk.

Sandi is my argument for the opposite case, lots of people concerned he's injury-prone, but he was kept off the field by broken ribs and a punctured lung from NicNat. We know how he did it, it's not something that will happen every day, and NicNat is out anyway :P can't see him back by July for the derby... Sandi is cheaper, has similar scoring potential, and IMO lower chance of reinjury.

Beams is in the Bob category. Cheap for what they can do, but unlikely to just step back in and be a top premo after missing so much footy, and too expensive to be a cow. A price rise of 20 ppg doesn't cut it I'm afraid. I want at least 30 so Swallow is a lock, JOM is a maybe.

Watson Murphy Beams JOM Swallow Clarke Sheed Cunningham

anyone keen for that?
