got a rough idea of when we'll be naming 3 defs, 4 mids, 3 fwds?

Teams are starting to come along pretty well, so about 2-3 weeks would be my estimate. This is open for discussion though so all coaches are free to pipe up with an opinion on this. We probably should finalise the week soon.

With coaches currently trading in Bronze cards for Silvers, and Silvers for Golds (as in this week already), I'd say definitely not in 2 weeks. Maybe 4 weeks to give some teams a chance of actually filling a regular squad first though? I think a couple still don't have a ruck (I know I don't), and iirc Holz only has like 1 or 2 mids.

I feel like it should definitely be after silver round, so maybe round 7

I'd love to snag a few more coach opinions, does Round 7 seem like a reasonable time to expand to the 3-4-1-3 structure?

I think so teams are just starting to get full teams, so people should be rewarded for not trading everyone in which would be the case if it was later.

in saying that i just sacked my bench in the hopes of getting my last mid.

I do however think the structure should be 3-3-1-3 and a utility.

so that way teams without strong mids are not disadvantaged and also teams with strong rucks can make use of their advantage if you have a Gawn + Grundy reckon you should have the option of playing both rather then having 1 ruck and 4 mids and then basically more mids who have DPP like Adams.

Stops it being just a midfielder game.

Id be happy with R7, only thing is that it might be a round or 2 late, doing it a few weeks earlier might make it a little more interesting in selections.

The issue with making it the week before, for example, is that it coincides with Silver Week, not great timing as most will not have 11 playing silvers, and many have now sold back some playing silvers while it was assumed we would have 8 players named for silver week.

This utility idea is really good mate

There's enough movement in what happens in UTG week to week, something we can look at for 2018 imo.
