On paper both of these players are almost dead even, last year they both average 107. Both had slow starts to the year. Both had monster run homes. So my question is why is one at 21% ownership and the other at 5%. The only legitimate reason i can think for picking bont over cripps os the back concern but Cripps will be playing JLT this week and be ready for round 1. So who would you pick between the two, and if its definitively Bont is it because of the back concerns or is it just the bulldogs hype train in full swing.

For the record im rolling with both right now

Yep. Ever since Cripps has been named he has been added to my team as well as Bont.

I personally prefer Cripps now but I may be a little biased ;)

You went a year early

I'd pick Cripps, and both of these blokes have been in and out of my side but if I had to pick (and I actually really want to but don't think I can fit them) it's going to be Cripps - just an absolute beast

Dependant upon his performance (on presumably managed time) I will either stick with Cripps or go with the Bont. He is an absolute beast, and IMO, has more scope for improvement this year over the Bont. Dont get me wrong, I had the Bont last year and he is a superstar (as well as supercoach friendly scores with minimal disposals). However, I think a culmination of the teams they are in, roles they will play, and teammates that will steal points off them, Cripps will come out on top. He may start slow with his interrupted pre-season, but will finish off strongly. Cripps averages more possessions, more contested possessions, more tackles and more clearances. His only failing is that he doesn't hit the scoreboard as much as Bont and has fewer score assists. Happy to be proven wrong, thats just my two bobs worth. Oh, I should add that I may bit a little biased being a Blues supporter also.

Cripps plays jlt I'll be looking at for sure and I'll pick him to beat treloar and Bont for sure.

_wato

Agreed with Holz Treloar the best young guy you can get.

106,106,111 last 3 years, Cripps 97, 107

Very good indeed but Treloar being just that bit older sways it for me.

I wont argue with anyone who says they will take treloar over those 2. has 3 more years experience and has proven he can go 110+

But in saying that how many guys have averaged 107 in there 3rd year? they are both very special talents. also for the record treloar did average 107 in his third year. might do a dig to find more and compare the stats the next year

uncleswagy

So i had a quick dig to see how players who average around the 105-109 mark in there second or third full years go the following year. most of them dont drastically improve and if they do improve its by a few points per game (which would put the two in question up to 110), in fact most stagnate and average about the same and some significantly less. cant picture these two averaging in the high 90s like some drop off to. but all the players i did look at exploded the year after.

So based on what i saw, lock both of these two in 2018. but they both could be decent picks this year, but theres always outliers to the statistics, like Dangerfield improving his average by 38 points in year 4...

Gavdroid

I have both, and have had since I built my team. Am actually a little disappointed that Cripps is playing this week as if he plays 2 JLT games and goes well a lot more will pick him, as I think he will be the better scorer out of the two

Agree with this

Does anyone know if Bont has had a full, solid pre season? has he missed any sessions? Has he carried any niggle injury through the pre season?

Sore ankle has him on limited duties for a part of the preseason
