I'm thinking, and probably too deeply for this time of year but I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about this.

Hampton/Otton/Kelly

The three Adelaide defenders who are all under 200k and are very valuable.

I get Otton is injury prone and probably won't pick him up.

But Hampton score 108, Otton scored 98 and Kelly scored 87.

The Crows' gameplan allows for defenders to score highly because Laird and Talia scored pretty well along with Hartigan.

Surely i'm not the only one who has thought of this.

Normally i'm against having two players from the same team in the same position but this is very tempting.

Hampton is someone we are all hoping lines up Round 1

Otten I'm not sure exactly if he makes the 22 or not but is probably an emergency or close to it

Kelly is depth and not best 22

I'm not sure Otten is best 22 either. And will be monitored all season anyway.

I know Adelaide rate Kelly highly and if he keeps performing I reckon he'd get picked in front of a couple of the defenders like Hartigan or Cheney.

Hampton I feel is the only one of those 3 that make the cut.  Knight and Wigg will come in before those other 2, Crows defense is fairly set.

Hartigan and Cheney played 21 and 22 games last year plus Brown and Lever did not play in there last game , maybe there might be a spot for one up for grabs maybe not think injuries is only way there is much change

Hampton is the only one that can play multiple positions. He can play half back, half forward or on the wing. With a couple of injuries and the Crows lacking that extra class in the midfield he would make sense to come in and rotate with Smith and Seed

im very worried about Brad Crouch missing round 1 then kicking some kid our round 2 or 3.

Probably be Wigg if he gets a go.

#8
Brown, Talia, Lever
Smith, Hartigan, Laird

Cheney on the bench

That is our backline, only player who can be replaced is Cheney and maybe Brown, the rest are locks, don't even think they will be replaced by Otten or Kelly.

If Talia or Hartigan gets injured, Otten will come in.

If Lever gets injured, Otten, Kelly or even Doedee (depending SANFL form obviously and how much he has improved over pre-season, I'm a big fan of him) could come in, depending on match ups or we could change the team around a bit.

If Brown or Cheney gets injured or is out of favour, Kelly or Doedee could come in or we could change the team around a bit.

Also don't forget we have been trialing Richard Douglas across half-back this pre-season.

Hampton is locked in the middle/wing/half-forward, he'll play everywhere

Cookie Monster

Is Hampton a lock now that Ellis-Yoleman has unfortunately done his ACL?

RaisyDaisy

Surely opposition can change that 6?

Laird and Smith in particular I can see being moved up the ground/onto the ball from time to time

Crows love Otten, wouldn't rule him out just yet

RaisyDaisy

Pyke said the Crows were keen to tap into Otten's experience after a difficult period for the veteran.

"Andy was one of a number of guys last year who was right on the edge of playing," Pyke said.

"He's an experienced defender, he's got great leadership and I know he's super keen to take the opportunity that's presented and push his claims for round one."
