Only 3qtrs of a pre season game, I know, but Tuohy looks like he'll take on the Enright role from the get go.

If they play him there all year, he's just about guaranteed 90+ IMO, and at a reasonable price. Tempted.

timmyparso

Only Enright can play the Enright role.

Tuohy will play the Tuohy role, that's what Geelong got him for.

Geelongs backline will change based on who they have. Don't get drawn into beleiving experienced players will change the way players play based on past game plans of their new clubs.

Wouldn't be the worst pick.  Should see a lot of the ball this year.  Wait and see.

Was waiting for this thread to start after tonight. He did look good, zero tackles had me conscerned, but he really has some dash off half back with long kicks, won't have a heap of intercept marks like enright but could generate similar scores.
On the watch list for sure.
Sorry to ask here, I missed the first half, but how did Jaeger look?

shaker

Well he has a R12 bye which I am finding difficult with players this year lets see how he goes in coming games

Jaeger might be a bit of a handballer while he gets going but at 300k odd, get him. Should avg 100 or more and he's the future of Hawthorn.

My approach to the byes has always been to ignore them. Despite what The Phantom says. I think you need to pick the best players you think are available full stop. Your team will change so much between now and the byes there's no point thinking about them now. Who knows what you will have by then? If a guy is the best option just pick him. You can half worry about they byes 2-3 weeks out.   I've won my 'regular' league 3 times and was top 1% last year so not just talking through my hat, I think.

To me it is trying not to use 1/3 of my trades during the bye period and more fixing it up 2 or 3 weeks before I have been playing for 7 years now and have finished top 1% 5 times and top 100 once ignore them at your own peril

I think you can ignore them to an extent. If I much prefer one player over another, I'm not gonna look at their byes (before the season starts anyway). But if I'm trying to decide between two players, and feel it's a genuine 50-50 (or close enough to it), then that's when their bye comes into play for me.

There is always enough quality players in each bye round to have a team you are happy with and I am the same I always check before R1 that they are not out of whack to much but R12 this year with only 4 teams there seems to be a lack true guns in all positions bar the obvious few , Tuohy is normally a player I would not look at but his first game at a new club was impressive and being round 12 bye like I said I will see how he goes in the coming matches

Think im in the GoLions camp. Your starting team can ignore the byes but once you start trading in premoes you need to be careful who they are. The only downfall there is you don't know which round the bargain premoes will come from.

RaisyDaisy

Nah, you gotta look at the byes, especially Round 11 this year

Doch, Simmo, Montagna, Bob, JJ, Boyd, TMac to name a few

Bont, JPK, Hanners, Parker, Rocky, Beams, Cripps, Murphy

Gawn, Martin

Dahl, Macrae, NROO, Buddy

Good Luck "picking whoever you want" from that group and not getting burnt in Round 11

Mat0369

You just need 18. It doesn't matter where they come from.

Exactly RD and the reason a lack of R12 guns

Backs only Rance for me
Mids  Danger Selwood no one from the Tiges Norf or Eagles maybe Priddus interest me
Rucks Goldy
FWD's well I can't even name one for sure maybe Caddy

Tough year

PS Haha replied to wrong post

Yeah and it's hard to get 18 if you pick more than 2 from each line that are Round 11

Yep shaker, exactly. Only Rance/Danger/Jelwood/Goldy I would consider from Rd12

Round 11 def has the most guns I like, so I am having to pass on several of them and plan

Anyway, back on topic I think Tuohy will do well at Geelong, and he has a history of scoring well, but can't see him going mid 90's across an entire season which is what you want
