After a strong #138 overall finish last year I have decided to enter a few cash leagues with some mates.

My plan of attack for this year is to start strong backs, load up on premium mids, set and forget rucks and wait and see how what forwards perform.

Backs:            S.Docherty - H.Shaw - R.Laird - C.Hampton - M.Hibberd - L.Ryan
                     (N.Newman   T.Stewart)

Mids:             P.Dangerfield - S.Pendlebury - J.Kennedy - T.Rockliff - R.Sloane - N.Fyfe - S.Powell-Pepper - D.Myers
                     (J.Berry - J.Pickett - J.Graham)

Rucks:           M.Gawn - T.Goldstein
                    (L.Strnadica)

Forwards:      L.Dahlhaus - J.Roughead - H.McCluggage - J.Thomas - J.Bowes - S.Bolton
                    (T.Smith - B.Eddy)

With this team I have $151,700 remaining, So I still do have some freedom to play around.

BOLD players are players that I have considered definite starters and I would need decent convincing to remove

Italic players are players who I can consider sideways trading.
with some notables being
BACKS                 K.Simpson - A.Rance - T.Adams - J.Johanissen - J.Howe - H.Hartlett
MIDS                   D.Hannerbery - J.Selwood - A.Trealor - R.Gray - T.Mitchell
RUCKS                 S.Mumford - S.Martin
FORWARDS          N.Riewoldt - J.Kennedy - J.Macrae - T.Lynch - J.Gunston - T.Greene - S.Motlop

All sub 200k players in the team subject to change based on JLT performance and who's named round one!

Your teams looking great.

No changes needed, just keep an eye on rookies.

Ringo

CD love Rance in SC so consider him. Not for other Fantasy though

Nice structure as well.  Just watch rookies.

Hi Matttt,

I love your DEF/MID/RUCK.... and then there's your FWD line... Thinner than a Samboy chip!
IMO there are so many discounted MID options available to us this year you'd be made not to take 1 (or 2) calculated risks (think Murphy, Swallow).  Doing so would also allow you some cash to fix your FWD line.
For example:
Pendlebury out - Murphy In
McCluggage up to Macrae

Yeah agree forwards a bit too weak, although I think having 4 rookies on the field there could be a viable strategy. But need a premo at F2. With the 150k you still have, Roughy to someone like Caddy or Macrae could be fine. Rest of your team looks very good :)

mattttwillll

Yeah forward is weak as hell. But no other forward than Dahlhaus jumps out at me. My god I'm considering Motlop that's how sad it's looking.

Not the biggest fan of midpricers in the midfield. I'd prefer a premium Pendles than a premium Caddy any day.

You can just straight swap Roughy for Macrae or Caddy though? Obviously wouldn't suggest to drop Pendles :P

Can't afford Macrae and not a fan of Caddy.

Edit: Could afford Macrae, Don't really want two dogs in there unless both are dominating.

Ah ok, thought Roughy was within 150k of Macrae but haven't checked their prices haha, so probs not then :P

But regardless, any forwards you are keen on I'd look to upgrade Roughy to. But I agree with what you said about Dahl being the only one that really jumps out ahead of the rest.

mattttwillll

That's my reasoning to a stupidly weak forward line. Give me the ability to bulk every other line. Because at the moment I have the top two scorers on each of those lines from last year plus more which I consider a very big luxury.

mattttwillll

After roughie was 'knackered' last night I feel as if I should look to upgrade him.  Thinking of upgrading Rockliff to hanners or jpk just to have that consistent scorer and bring in rocky if he is performing well

Mantis

I would keep Rocky mate, my opinion is his scoring won't be the issue its how injury prone he is. If he dominates and you trade him in then he gets injured you will burn 2 trades. If you think he will score well then start him and then ya would be looking at burning only the 1 trade if he gets a significant injury. He has one of the best ceilings in the game, but I do see the appeal for having safer durable mids.

What was wrong with roughies performance ??

nothing at all. he did well for what he's been through and how long he has missed. but I was told that Clarko said he was buggered after the game.  I have the ability to practically upgrade him to whoever so just thinking whats been for the team. potentially Ryder as ruck cover, Heeney as a break out.

Money Shot

Although I wouldn't be trading him as the same reason you are I think that someone like Macrae would be a much better choice than Roughy considering you're going so cheap in the forward line :)
