WXV Pre-Season Competition 2017

Hey all!

The season is just starting to make a vague shape on the horizon  :D but alas, it is still so far away. Thankfully, or teasingly, we can pass the time of our slow, slow approach to the real stuff with a kick & giggle throughout the JLT.

Like last year, I will take the best 15 scorers from each team, regardless of position, rookie status, sub eligibility etc and add them up. There are no captain or home ground bonuses, and you aren't required to submit any teams, so sit back, relax and observe how your players are shaping up!

However, instead of simply the highest scoring team taking out the title, I've allocated everyone into three groups through my discretion (according to the "thirds" that made up my predictions ladder :P)

Christchurch Saints
Pacific Islanders
Beijing Thunder
Seoul Magpies
Cape Town Cobras

Group C
PNL Reindeers
Tokyo Samurai
London Royals
Buenos Aires Armadillos
Toronto Wolves
Cairo Sands

Each AFL team will play 3 times, so we will have 3 rounds (split over 4 weeks)

After Round 1, the two highest scorers of each group progresses to the next round.

In Round 2, the two teams remaining in each group will 1 v 1 each other in an elimination round, meaning we will have a representative from each group entering Round 3.

Finally, the highest scorer in Round 3 will take out the title.

I will still record the scores of all the eliminated teams, to keep everyone interested, and eventually post a spreadsheet of the performance of every player for you to look at. I will use the FF Live Scoring as my basis, like the last couple of years.

It might not be as one sided as you think! Most top players don't play or play well in pre-season games, so it'll be interesting to see who wins!
