I'm sure that this season is a very difficult season to pick a team at the moment for everyone.

I don't think anyone is settled with how they want their team set up.

And it's killing me! I currently have no idea what to do with the mid-priced coming of injury players or rookies and it's eating me alive.

Any advice given to the team listed below, I will be very grateful for.

Anyway, here goes.

Defence: Heath Shaw, Rory Laird, Hamish Hartlett, Michael Hibberd, Kade Kolodjashnij, Andrew McGrath. (Scrimshaw, Perryman)

First three are locks in the team. Hibberd i believe will be good for his price and McGrath will either be there or in the midfield after re-structuring. I went with Kade last year hoping for a break out year, am i dumb in hoping for another one this year? Also any help with bench players will be great.

Midfield: Patrick Dangerfield, Scott Pendlebury, Luke Parker, Dyson Heppell, Sam Powell-Pepper, Hugh McCluggage, Jarrod Pickett, Will Setterfield (Graham, Myers, Taranto)

First two are staying. Could change Parker and Heppell to anyone around that price range and still be happy. Rookies I believe are good. Taranto would be on the field i just realised he's on the bench and cba changing atm. Any advice on them will also be appreciated.

Rucks: Gawn, Ryder (Abbott)

Set and not forget.

Foward: Luke Daulhaus, Issac Heeney, Harley Bennell, Jarryd Roughead, Ben Ainsworth, Billie Smedts (Loersch, Pink)

Smedts is only in there coz I realised i was missing a player. Bench help here pls. Pretty sure Bennell would do well this season. Better than what his price says anyway.

Money Shot

Hibberd and KK down to Hampton/Keefe/Scharenberg

Taranto to premium

and your team would be looking a lot better I reckon

My personal opinion is that you are way too light on in the midfield. 90% of teams will have at least one more premium, and many will have Beams or Swallow or even both. This is where your points will come from. Four premiums just won't cut it for my liking, but as always, go with your gut.

How can you get more premium midfielders? Well, you don't need to run nearly as deep in defence. Most will go 3-0-5, it seems you are taking more of a 3-2-3 approach. I'd say cut Hibberd and Kolo. Get yourself an extra premium midfielder. Just out of interest, is there a particular reason why you're not starting Fyfe?

The other thing is, with Ryder at R2 and no playing ruck cover, you're already guaranteed a donut in round 9 when he gets back from China.

Your team definitely has potential, and I like that you've gone bold with a bunch of half-decent PODs (Hartlett, Parker, etc.).

I just noticed, Bennell and Roughy seems a bit mid-pricey for my liking too. I would only run with one of them, and Roughy is in my team at the moment. Bennell definitely one to watch during JLT though.

I took Money Shots advice and brought in Scharenburg and Hampton. Which I ended up bringing in Neale. I already had Neale in when i first started it and took him out just before and didn't think of putting fyfe in. I don't usually like having two players from the same team in the same position until after the byes. (rookies exempted)

Bennell and Roughead have proven to be premiums. If anything i'd take Bennell as Roughead is a big unknown.

Fair enough. But why Neale over Fyfe? I can't understand that. The better option is cheaper, and you will likely be burned from not starting him. I admire your courage though.

Bennell is far more of an unknown in my opinion. We don't know how Roughies body will hold up after last year, true. But he has been training well, has taken on captaincy and will play JLT. Bennell has never played a game for Fremantle and this is the latest update: Former Gold Coast star Harley Bennell is still working his way back from a setback with his "good" left calf last November. Bennell is steadily building his running program, though, and the Dockers are confident he will play "a great deal" this year after missing all of last season.

He's definitely a freak talent, so if he impresses in at least two JLT matches he will come under consideration, but I strongly disagree with you that Roughy is more of an unknown.

Okay so after some fidgeting around and moving players here and there I've been able to come up with something pretty good I reckon.

Defence: Heath Shaw, Rory Laird, Hamish Hartlett, Matt Scharenburg, Curtly Hampton, Andrew McGrath. (Scrimshaw, Perryman)

Midfield: Patrick Dangerfield, Scott Pendlebury, Luke Parker, Marcus Bontempelli, Nat Fyfe, Dyson Heppell, Sam Powell-Pepper,Will Setterfield (Graham, Myers, Bowes)

Rucks: Max Gawn, Todd Goldstein (Abbott)

Fowards: Luke Daulhaus, Issac Heeney, Hugh McCluggage, Tim Taranto, Ben Ainsworth, Jarrod Pickett (Loersch, Pink)

This team is at the moment, just a prospect team. I've taken advantage of the DPP rookies and just put them in the foward line so that allowed me to get Fyfe and Bonts.

Any advice? Going to have to wait for JLT to see how they go!

Also any advice on the 150k or less players for the foward line?

Money Shot

Forward line is weak but I also have a two premium forward line as there are so many cheap players available.

As for the 150k less forwards to look at: Galluchi, Black, Pickett, Rioli, Long, Brown, Bolton, Parfitt, Drew, T Smith, Eddy

I totally agree that a 2 prem forward is really starting to look the best option, but it will depend on what rookies are available come the start of the year. Even going 200k rookies appears to have more value that taking punts on who will be the top 6 forwards.

Overall this team has risk written all over it. Hartlett, Bont, Heppell, Heeney are all IF players. Dalh, Fyfe, Parker and Laird also had injury concerns last year.
So if you say your picking 13 premiums, you have 7 that need to improve substantially to be top 10  or are returning from injury.

Alright, I haven't really tweaked my team since before JLT but after the first couple of weeks I've decided to make some changes.

Defence: Heath Shaw, Rory Laird, Dane Rampe, Matt Scharenburg, Curtly Hampton, Andrew McGrath. (Vickers-Willis, Newman)

OUT: Hartlett IN: Rampe

Midfield: Patrick Dangerfield, Scott Pendlebury, Josh Kennedy, Marcus Bontempelli, Nat Fyfe, Jobe Watson, Sam Powell-Pepper,Will Setterfield (Graham, Brodie, Fox)

OUT: Parker, Heppell IN: Kennedy, Watson

Rucks: Max Gawn, Tom Hickey (Witts)

OUT: Goldstein IN Hickey

Fowards: Luke Daulhaus, Issac Heeney, Hugh McCluggage, Tim Taranto, Will Hoskin-Elliott, Jarrod Pickett (Bowes, Bolton)

OUT: Ainsworth IN Hoskin-Elliott

A couple of notes because I feel like I will need to explain myself.

I believe Watson will be great especially for his price. I don't think anyone expected him to come back the way he did.

I know i want one of the Sydney three but I never know which one, got JPK at the moment but I prefer Parker.

I'm not exactly sold on Goldstein this year. Something just doesn't sit right with me and I beleive Hickey could elevate and grow as the saints do.

Also looking to try and get Ainsworth back in but i do like Hoskin-Elliott.

Any improvments? Are there any cheap rookies i'm missing out on?

I really like your balls with the Hickey pick, the new rule is making me seriously consider him over my current pick of S.Martin. I would stay clear of McGrath, been stated that he's not going to play every week, will be in and out like a yo-yo.

What Stefan Martin missed out on in his scoring last year was how many touches he got. He averaged 100+ points because he was able to get 20 disposals or so a game.

I'm tossing up between he and Hickey. But i believe Hickey has the more upside.

Cookie Monster

I almost want to play two teams this year. I almost just want to make an experimental team to see how it goes!

Anyhow, here's a little update.

D: SHAW LAIRD MILLS HAMPTON SCHARENBERG VICKERS-WILLIS ryan stewert

M: DANGERFIELD PENDLEBURY PARKER FYFE STEVEN O'MEARA SETTERFIELD BRODIE smedts powell-pepper wigg

R: GAWN NANKERVIS witts

F: DALHAUS CADDY HEENEY TARANTO MCCLUGGAGE BOWES begley bolton

Only note here is that i'm still sticking with Scharenberg for now until i find a better option.

Glenmaggie

Nice team, Heeney has Galndular so won't play first few rounds
