So I need some advice with my team. Not 100% sold on the forward line, but as you can see I have the cash to use right now.. Happy with the midfield though.

With $200.7K in the bank this is my team so far. The names that are in the bold text are my keepers and I have a few questions marks next to a few i'm unsure about. Also along with everyone else not sure about the rookies just yet.

Defenders
  L. Montagna, T. Adams, J. Johannisen, A. McGrath, L. Keefee ?, M. Scharenberg ?, J .Berry, L. Ryan

Midfielders
D. Hannebery, L.Neale, A.Treloar, S. Coniglio, J. Steven, S. Menegola ? , B. Fiorini ? , D. Myers, S. Powell-Pepper, N. Freeman, J. Graham

Rucks
M. Gawn, S. Jacobs, D. Cameron

Forwards
J. Macrae, D. Smith, T. Boyd ?, B. Ainsworth, T.Marshall, J. Pickett, H. Balic, B.Eddy

Decided against any injury riddled players to start with because I have be burnt by those same guys in the past. Save the trades for later. Hoping Tom Boyds grand final wasn't a one off and he can follow through in 2017. Would be a bargain.

Any advice would be good, especially in the forward line.

GoLions

Not having any of Dangerfield, Pendles, Fyfe, Rocky to start the season is probably going to do more harm than good imo...would try to get one or two of those guys in (Fyfe and Danger ideally). Menegola too expensive imo, would swap him for someone like David Swallow to pocket some cash. Same goes with Fiorini, could drop him to a rookie like SPS and get an extra 100k or so.

Would look at getting Dahl in the forward line as well. Probably the safest forward option we have this year.

Jacobs a risk in the ruck but I don't mind the pick.

Defence is pretty good, I'd probably prefer Shaw in there as well but tbh can't really fault any of the guys you have already selected :P

Will leave rookies alone for now, and we'll have a better idea closer to round 1 :)

Money Shot

When you start the season you want guys that are either going to be top 10 in there position or make money.
If you think that all your premiums can do that then go with your gut. But would want a few of Danger, Pendles, Fyfe and even Rocky.

Boyd, Fiorini and Mengelola are all interesting but I wouldn't go with any of them to be honest.

Dahlhaus, Swallow and A rookie priced player (SPS) would be much more convincing for me.

Would also try and turn Jacobs into Goldy or too a lesser extent Grundy/Martin

Ringo

Nice structure. Remember to go with gut when assessing advice.

I feel you will be missing a lot of points by not starting Danger or Pendles so maybe look at getting them in. Similarly Dahlhaus is the one forward most will have as well.

Also do not see a reliable captain option each week which Pendles or Danger will give.

Remember Boyd was the No 1 draft pick in 2013. Have reservations on Boyd myself about whether he can keep it up.

Menegola could be a good choice if he starts and rumoured to be training well.

With other queries just watch the JLT. There are other options available so not the end of the world.

So just tweak a little to get the super prems in.

Thanks for the advice guys. New look team which I think is better than the last. Have 65K sitting in the bank.

Defenders
L. Montagna, T. Adams, R.Laird, A. McGrath, L. Keefee ?, M. Scharenberg ?, J .Berry, L. Ryan

Midfielders
D. Hannebery, L.Neale, A.Treloar, S. Coniglio, J. Steven,  B. Fiorini ,  B. Ainsworth, J.Foote, S. Powell-Pepper, N. Freeman, J. Graham

Rucks
M.Gawn, T. Goldstein, D. Cameron

Forwards
L.Dahlhaus, J. Macrae, D. Smith, H.McCluggage, T.Marshall, J. Pickett, H. Balic, B.Eddy

Opinions anyone? I know I don't have Danger or Pendles but I want to see if I can compete without all the big guns this year.

As GL said, no Danger, Pendles or Fyfe... you'll likely be behind the eight ball from the start.

I don't mind your structure.

There are some picks I don't like. Jack Steven is more of an AF and RDT player, he doesn't have the efficiency to average 110 in Supercoach (except in 2013). Fiorini is a very expensive rookie who will likely have the same output or worse than Myers (who strangely you don't have in your team). In a full GC midfield, I can't see him playing the role that he played in the last few games last year. There are better options than Devon Smith, too.

Obviously you like to go a bit PODiffy with your midfield, but I really think you'd be better off with a couple of those guys (Danger, Pendles, Fyfe) than with Neale, Coniglio and Steven.

100% improvement from your initial post, but not quite to my liking. The important thing is to go with your gut and back in your selections. You've picked them for a reason, and if you listen to every bit of advice that I or anyone else gives you, you'll have the same team as the rest of us.

Glenmaggie

The problem with starting without Danger and Fyfe etc... is that in all likelihood you will need to get them in at some stage to be competitive. This will cost you trades. Get them in now and they are keepers for the rest of the season. So important to keep trades.

Also, I would think that you will need at least one of Docherty, Shaw or Simpson as they are all likely to be top 6-8 defenders.

Good luck

My Team as it stands right now.

Defenders R.Laird, B.Vince, Z.Tuohy, J.Smith, E.Vickers-Willis, Z.Guthrie, L.Ryan, F.Watson

Mids D.Hannebery, L.Neale, A.Treloar, D.Zorko, R.Gray, S.Coniglio, B.Fiorini, W.Brodie, S.Powell-Pepper, J.Barrett, T.Miles

Rucks M.Gawn, B.Grundy, L.Strandica

Forwards L.Dahlhaus, D.Smith, S.Higgins, A.Black, J.Pickett, D.Cameron, C.Maynard, B.Eddy.

Not 100% sold on Josh Smith, Brayden Fiorini, Shaun Higgins or Will Brodie at the moment. But other than that I am happy with my team. Any opinions would be great.

Ringo

Different structure to most but still sound.

Big risk imo not starting one of Danger or Pendles in mids,

Forward line also a little week with Devon Smith at F2. Will Lids arrival effect his scoring is something to consider.

Have a play look at other teams but go with gut in selections.

#9
Thanks for the advice everyone. I am now 95% sure of my team, of course rookies dependant on selection for round 1. I am also aware that I have a weak back line so may still tinker with this before round 1. Still have 136K to play with.

Defenders R. Laird, B. Vince, Z. Tuohy, C. Hampton, F. McInnes , E. Vickers-Willis, A. Otten, Z. Guthrie

Midfielders S. Pendelbury, D. Hannerbery, L. Neale, A. Treloar, D. Zorko, S. Coniglio, W. Brodie, S. Powell-Pepper, J. Barrett, T. Miles, J. Pickett

Rucks M.Gawn, A. Sandilands, L. Strnadica

Forwards L. Dahlhaus, L. Franklin, D. Smith, T. Nankervis, A. Black, D. Cameron, D. Houston, J. Begley

Tell me what you think of this team. Any and all advice welcome.

Spirios

I love the Bernie Vince pick!

IMO I would be looking for a rance, shaw, adams, JJ for Touhy.

lot of PODs in Mids and Fwd line.

Smith a risk for me at F3. 75-85 average possibly? Roughead should average around the same and you can bank the 80k for use elsewhere?

Interesting team!

Ringo

Structure Sound

Touhy is a concern for me.  Last year was the first time he averaged more than 80 in his career. Fair enough at a new club  and may increase but a big ask. Remember at Blues he was playing with 2 top scorers last year in Simpson and Docherty.
Have similar thoughts about Coniglios scoring.
Devon Smith will he maintain that average with Lids now joining the side,

Overall a different team to most with PODS so go with gut on selections.

Mickyp81

Yeah Touhy and Smith are my main concerns, but I still have time and the cash to play around with this team before round 1. But saying that Tuohy did have his best supercoach year last year playing along side Simpson and Docherty, still a question make though.

I had Coniglio last year when he averaged 105. Had some 8 scores under 100 out of 21 games so I was happy with him. Hoping he can do a little better this year.

Mickyp81

So this is my team now that the JTL is over. Let me know what you think of it. Still have 124K to play with.

Defenders R. Laird - B. Vince - Z. Touhy - J. Smith - C. Hampton - E. Vickers-Willis - A. Otten - Z. Guthrie

Midfield D. Hannebery - L. Neale - A. Treloar - D. Zorko - N. Fyfe - A Gaff - T. Toranto - S. Powell-Pepper - J. Barrett - M. Hibberd - C. Brown

Rucks M. Gawn - A. Sandilands - L. Stranadica

Forwards L. Dahlhaus - L. Franklin - T. Nankervis - J. Steele - J. Pickett - B. Eddy - A. Black - T. Miles

Obviously waiting on Rookie selection.

Ringo

Would strengthen your mids if possible looking at other teams. Weak in comparison to them. Which Smith is it Josh Pies or Joel Melbourne.  If Josh not a fan as I think better options available.
