Swallow is already a far superior footballer to Scott Selwood.

Thats the chief reason I'm locking in D.Swallow over S.Selwoodm

Selwood has averaged 100+ in his last 2 full seasons

you planning on keeping swallow till the end?

basically both expensive, well scoring, cash cows

kilbluff1985

SS was getting tagging roles i think

Sabretooth Tigers

 :)

Approximately how much is the magic figure used to determine price to score ratio ??  I reckon SS would ave 85 to 90 with reasonable ease, especially if he were to run free without tagging duty. So where would this put his price ??   How much would he make ??  Both could be good earners, just depends on what the rookies are up for.              ;)

That was back when he was the Eagles best midfielder. *shudders*

He's a long way back in the pecking order at the Cats, plus his last two 'full seasons' were in 2012 and 2013... Thats probably says a lot in itself.

I'm just telling you why he's not in many teams, and what you're missing :P

Fair enough, just looks good on paper
$281,000
proven he can go 100+
Prime age
had a good preseason

i dunno, other then peoples opinion that hes a rubbish footballer and that he was only averaging 100s when he was 22, Presents abit of value in SC terms

gloryboy

priced at 50 ppg and 280k, averaged 74.6 in 5 games in 2016, Averaged 104 in 2012/2013. 80+ 2011-2014.  Injuries in 2015/2016. in best 22, injury free and best preseason in 3 years.  26 years old. 10th AFL season.

"Geelong is looking to ease the reliance on Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield through the midfield and the pre-season form of Scott Selwood and Sam Menegola, who would help in that ambition, has been encouraging. Scott Selwood is free of the ankle issues that dogged him during much of 2016 and has been training unimpeded. Selwood's hardness at the contest in match simulation and his endurance (he finished top five in the Cats' 15-minute run time trial) has him well-placed for a productive season"

unlikely to produce numbers of 2012/13, but should at least score 20-30 pts above his price point.

would have to at least be considered.

you've listed some good reasons to pick him there. Go with your own instinct.

If you pick all your players based on the masses opinion you won't have a team any different than most.

you can't trade a 117k starting rookie down and then another up and expect to get a gun 600+ player.

But you should be able to trade a 117k starting rookie down and then SS or Swallow up to a 600+ gun.

who knows you might get 100pt avg along the way... if this happens you will def be ahead of the pack and its certainly not out of the realms of possibility

djbics

TooSerious has him projected to score 74, which would make his price $358300 at Geelongs bye = $77k increase

I have him going at 80, which would make his price $384356 at Geelongs bye = $103k increase

If you think he can go higher than 90 then he could be a good selection, I personally just cant see him getting back to an average that high playing a predominantly defensive role in a midfield including Dangerfield and Selwood, not to mention Menegola who looks to be a decent scorer as well.

However, if there is a dearth of decent rookies come Rd 1, he wouldn't be the worst pick

StuL

Selwood was a gun before he hurt his ankle. No evidence of him getting back to that since unfortunately. Watch in pre-season. Anything 90 plus and I'll be tempted. If he's playing a tagging role though there's probably no point.

Grufflez

The thing that worries me is that even when Scott was at his best at the Eagles he was a run with kind of mid fielder.
The Cats really only have Guthrie to tag who plays off of half back these days, Scott if fully fit seems the logical choice to fill that run with/tag role again at the cats, so whilst been a mid fielder i think that limits big games sc wise anyway, why this matters is at 280k (like swallow)
he probably needs to average low to mid 90's to make enough cash vs a rookie and being a run with player stops those odd 120+ games that help boost that average against his inevitable quieter games.

Worth a watch when the Praccy games start.

quinny88

At the moment I have Beams at M6  then rookies but if Beams doesn't play in the JLT I'll be getting one of Swallow or Scooter. Will see who looks good through the JLT

RaisyDaisy

Couldn't pay me to pick him

Two years of 103/104 a very long time ago

Will push 90 at absolute best
