Decided to go with Simpson, solely due to his history and reliability. Will have $444,000 to spend on trades next week. Will be looking at getting another defender prem and possibly a prem mid. Will be watching Doch and Roberton very closely this week ;)

SilverLion

Slight change due to half my side being out this week, did Pickett --> Simpson (via Adams DPP), Parfitt --> Parsons to avoid a donut.

Will HOPEFULLY do these next week:

Butler --> Myers via Steele
Hampton --> Doch

Shocking week, not even going to break it down.. too many premiums failing to deliver and player down with no bench on any line due to a combination of reasons.

Alright so I've narrowed my choices down to two options this week (with Butler/Newman out depending on teams, and Mutimer/Myers in also depending on teams)

Red are the trades, bolded players are the likely keepers:

Option 1:
Docherty, Laird, Simpson, Shaw, Otten, Newman (Stewart, McNiece)
Bontempelli, Murphy, Adams, T. Mitchell, Fyfe, Treloar, Powell-Pepper, McGrath (Beams, Fisher, Mutimer/Myers)
Sandilands, Grundy (Preuss)
Dahlhaus, Macrae, Nankervis, Steele, Higgins, Balic (Parsons, Eddy)

Option 2:
Adams, Laird, Simpson, Shaw, Otten, Newman (Stewart, McNiece)
Bontempelli, Murphy, T.Mitchell, Fyfe, Treloar, Powell-Pepper, McGrath, Balic (Beams, Fisher, Mutimer/Myers)
Sandilands, Grundy (Preuss)
Yeo, Dahlhaus, Macrae, Nankervis, Steele, Higgins (Parsons, Eddy)

Option 1 (with Mutimer): $186k in bank, and 2 D/M in mids, no D/M in def and no F/M in mids.
Option 2 (""): $251k in bank, and 1 D/M in mids, 1 D/M in def and 1 F/M in mids.

Believe Option 2 allows for Danger/Doch a lot easier next week, and that if I don't get Yeo this week I probably won't get him.

Pretty sure Yeo would be good for my bye structure too :P

Both Options leave me with 4 players left to upgrade, with McGrath and Otten included.

Thoughts?

GoLions

Looks like you're in a fairly similar position to me man! Scored 1854 myself, with a donut of course, and tossing up mainly between Yeo and Adams aha. I don't see Docherty rising a heap in cash at all, so it could be worth going Yeo this week, Danger next week, and look at picking up Docherty not long after?

SilverLion

Hah didn't even realise, yup almost identical :o

Cheers for the input GL, thats the way I was thinking too, something along the lines of...

Hampton --> Mutimer via DPP
Butler --> Yeo

Powell-Pepper --> Myers
Newman/Otten --> Dangerfield via DPP

Then probably wait a week, not much point in bringing in Doc then given he'll have the bye the following week.

Would leave me with 17 trades and 19 premiums, with McGrath, Stewart/McNiece/Newman/Otten and Balic the last remaining rookies on the field.

Bye structure (premiums only, not including trades mid-way through the byes) would be:
[6-7] Beams, Murphy, Simpson, Bontempelli, Dahlhaus, Macrae, Steele (?)
[4] Dangerfield, Higgins, Nankervis, Yeo
[7-8] Laird, Adams, Fyfe, Treloar, Grundy, Shaw, T. Mitchell, Sandilands (?)

GoLions

Yeah, I reckon those trades look good mate!

And agree, grab Docherty after his bye, unless he chucks up a few 130+ scores, should still be fairly affordable for the kinds of scores he can deliver each week :)

Teams in, trade plans of Hampton --> Mutimer and Butler --> Yeo to go ahead.

Ability to loophole Mutimer is also invaluable this week. Nevermind, forgot about Treloar... Hah, realised can loophole Mutimer with Parsons via Balic's donut. Bonus ;D

Fisher and Stewart coming straight back in is amazing.

Newman possibility to come in which is nice.

Amazingly, Parsons held his spot.

McNiece not coming back in and not being named as an emergency either is a concern though.

Preuss and Eddy not coming in is no real surprise at this point...

Round 8 Score:
2,047

Overall Ranking:
15,257

Team Value (Prior to trades):
12,138,500

Cash in Hand (Prior to trades):
$251,500

Trades Remaining:
19

The Good:
Laird, Adams, Murphy, T. Mitchell (C), Steele, Powell-Pepper, Sandilands, Yeo, Macrae, Nankervis

The Average:
Simpson, Shaw, McGrath, Bontempelli, Fyfe, Grundy, Higgins

The Bad:
Otten, Stewart, Fisher, Dahlhaus, Parsons

The catastrophic:
Not loopholing Newman...

DNP/Irrelevant and only for cash making:
McNiece, Mutimer, Preuss, Eddy

This weeks trades:
Powell-Pepper --> Myers is already locked and loaded, will generate around 200k, and with Myers' JS being above that of pretty much all rookies, he should provide cash and potential bench cover after the byes.
Otten --> Any Defender/Mid/Forward This one is less so. As much as I want to bring in Doc, with his massive breakeven and bye fast approaching, I don't really see him as a necessity this week. Dangerfield is mighty tempting too, but his breakeven is pretty much identical to his 3 round average, and so could quite easily wait another week. The one I'm currently leaning towards is Oliver. Being the cheapest of the three means I only lose $600 doing these two trades, but also Oliver has been incredibly consistent this year, with only one game below 100 (that being a 91). If I were to bring Oliver in, my bye structure would be as follows:

Available Players:
Round 11: 17 (Preuss, Eddy, McNiece all excluded)
Round 12: 21 (Preuss, Eddy, McNiece all excluded)
Round 13: 16 (Preuss, Eddy, McNiece all excluded)

Available Premiums:
Round 11: 11
Round 12: 16
Round 13: 11

To avoid the donuts in Rounds 11 and 13, I intend to next week:
McGrath/Stewart --> McInnes/O'Connor (+250/200/100/150)
Balic/Fisher/Parsons --> Dangerfield (-440/460/490)

Thoughts?

Edit: Forgot to mention, new team would look as follows:

Def: Laird, Adams, Simpson, Shaw, McGrath, Newman (Stewart, McNiece)
Mid: Bontempelli, Murphy, Oliver, T. Mitchell, Fyfe, Treloar, Beams, Balic (Fisher, Mutimer, Myers)
Ruck: Sandilands, Grundy (Preuss)
Fwd: Yeo, Macrae, Dahlhaus, Steele, Nankervis, Higgins (Parsons, Eddy)

This weeks trades:
Powell-Pepper --> Dangerfield Locked.
McGrath --> McInnes/Perryman Depends on if McInnes is named or not I think

Thoughts?

Lineup:

Ruck: Sandilands, Grundy (Preuss)
Fwd: Yeo, Macrae, Dahlhaus, Steele, Nankervis, Higgins (Parsons, Eddy)

SilverLion

Put the trade through to see what the team would look like visually, gotta say, am pretty happy with it ;D

95.8k in bank, 15 trades left.

Any feedback at all anyone?

HoleMeal

Hard to argue with those trades, other than maybe keeping SPP for the byes.

That team looks terrific!! 2 upgrades in the back line and perhaps sandi and your done mate. Could also do Preuss to Freo ruck as a luxury later to open up Nank DPP swing.

Great going with 15 trades left.  ;)

(check my team out)  :o

SilverLion

Cheers for that HoleMeal, yeah was considering keeping SPP, but think bringing in Danger with a low BE and high ownership (over 60% :o) as well as having the R12 bye which no-one else in my midfield has should still work :)

If Preuss doesn't get named and Parsosns/Eddy does get named, may have to do Preuss --> Strnadica instead of McGrath --> McInnes to cover the donut and cop whatever McGrath loses this week.

Sad that I'll miss out on McInnes if this is the case, but gives me another week to look at Perryman at least. Maybe McGrath --> Perryman, Parsons/Eddy --> Greenwood next week.

So last week didn't feel the need to really post an update, ended up just doing Eddy --> Greenwood, which seemed both logical and necessary. This week is a bit more speculative, with McGrath --> Doch, Mutimer --> Cousins both locked, but that still requires me to downgrade Stewart to either Scharenberg or Ryan, currently settled on Ryan but not really sure who to go with on that one.

Leaves my side effectively complete, with Newman, Shaw and Sandi the only minor question marks, will likely bring in Lloyd next week for someone.

Side looks like this:

Leaves me with 11 trades as well.

Thoughts? Really need help on who to pick out of Ryan and Scharenberg too.

Carn

I went Scharenberg, high draft pick, very talented just needs to stay injury free. The extra cash is handy though, but I think he will outscore Ryan so have a higher ceiling. Good side, I would add Steele, Newman & Higgins to the question marks you have already put forward. But in a year where we are struggling for cash they have a good average.

HoleMeal

With the Pies injuries I would bank on Sharenberg to stay in.

You could go Newman to Hibberd this week, Newman a high BE and Hibberd has a super low BE.

Apart from that, great team. Just wait for Sandi to Gawn in a few weeks.

Check mine out... ;)
