So this is the first team that I have felt comfortable enough with to show off, and will probs sit on for a while.

Def: Montagna, Laird, Howe, McGrath, Keeffe, Hampton, (Berry, Ryan)

Mid: Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Treloar, Rockliff, Fyfe, Swallow, Powell-Pepper, Myers, (Pickett M/F, Freeman, Graham)

Ruck: Gawn, Golstein, (Strandica)

Fwd: N.Riewoldt, Dahlhaus, Bennell, McCluggage, Ainsworth, Black, (C.Brown, W.Rioli)

Bank: $14,300.

12 keepers plus Bennell and Swallow.

Montagna, Howe, Treloar, Rockliff, Riewoldt all in less than 13% of teams atm, so got some good PODs mixed in too.

Byes: 3/9/5/13 (but 6 of Rnd 13’s are rookies so will trade them by then).

Looking good.  I like the Bennell selection. And Howe, NRoo could pay off handsomely as PODs

Not tempted by Beams?

Berry, Freeman, Brown unlikely to play R1

Rookies shouldn't be anyone's concern right now... You don't know until rd 1.

Concerned about montagna's role, bit up in the air for mine. Before i started hearing these things he was first picked in defence.

Not a bad team to sit on with nice PODs. You have quite few high priced rookies to play around with when we know who is playing or not.
Just personal couple of players I would not chose but we can not all have the same team.

Wait what have you heard about Montagna's role??

That he could be swung all over the place... still as an attacking player but there are better options out there

I'm a Saints supporter, and I can't see him moving anywhere near the forward line with such good fwd depth. He was very close to my first selected too. Only him, Danger, Gawn and Dahlhaus haven't moved in terms of premos.

Howe is the only one that I'm a smidge uncertain on.

In terms of Berry, Freeman and Brown- all will play very early on, so if they don't play Rnd 1, I may even leave them in there so I can keep the same structure.

Berry recently injured his knee fwiw. Barring injuries to others ahead of him, probably won't see him for a while.

Coming from you, I'll swap him out then. I knew he was injured, but after reading how impressed the Lions are with him, I assumed he'd go straight in when fit.

Cutler and Paparone definitely ahead of him, Harwood probably is as well (still think Harwood can be very good off half back). CLaye Beams is another that could be very good, but always injured. Then it depends where we wanna play guys like Rich and Mayes. If they're being played in defence, then Berry definitely doesn't get early games. If Rich is chucked into the mids full time, and Mayes gets played forward, then I guess Berry could be a chance if Beams is injured and Harwood/Paparone don't impress in pre-season. We'll have a lot more information to go off come round 1, but yeah, wouldn't expect him to play early on atm :)

Team looks pretty good btw :P

Like the Howe and Joey picks, don't think a change in role would effect Joey tbh, he's always scored pretty well regardless of position. Nroo probably the only pick I'd be a bit hesitant with, but usually starts very very well so could be worth it for sure!

Yeah, howe is in the same boat... My guess is that we recruited mayne to keep him down back. If that's the case then Howe is an easy top 10 candidate for mine

yep

Bucks mentioned that Mayne would play as a defensive forward.  ie forward line player, making sure ball is locked in etc.  Will be interesting to see Shaw v Mayne

Clearly we have no intent on scoring  >:(

Been a while since I posted an update, so in light of all of the mid rookie madness, here is my updated team:

Def: Montagna, Laird, Scharenberg, Hampton, Vickers-Willis, Newman, (Ryan, Stewart)

Mid: Dangerfield, Kennedy, Treloar, Rockliff, Cripps, Fyfe, T.Mitchell, Powell-Pepper, (Foote, Barrett, Hibberd)

Ruck: Goldstein, Gawn, (Strnadica)

Fwd: Riewoldt, Dahlhaus, McCluggage, Bowes, Black, Pickett, (Cameron, Eddy)

Bank: $30,100

I'm not keen at all to have 9 rookies on ground (mainly Pickett). And my 3 mid benchers are speculative. Apart from that, Good mix of POD and cookie cutter.
