Yeah, I don't think you can afford to hold Rocky if going for overall. Fisher/Barrett are probably looking at a 40/60 for both weeks he is out. If you're pretty screwed round 11 it's also another way to fix that.

That's exactly what I have been trying to say mate.

Look I love Rocky, he's a champion and SC pig but being at 1006 overall and 2-4 in my cash league I just can't carry him and play Myers/Fisher. Its just too many points that I will loose over the next 3 weeks. And whose to say its only 3 weeks, it could be 4.  ::)

Can't just play the short game though either. Sometimes you need hold injured/under performing players because if you trade them all the time you'll be copping donuts or fielding poor rookies later in the season when you've run out of trades

Rocky is a clear hold IMO. Use your trades and cash to upgrade elsewhere and get closer to completing your team, which will still improve your overall scoring in the meantime anyway

3 weeks is a long time though, I'd be trading if I was in JM's position.

I'm thinking of trading him for Dusty and Otten for JPK via Adams (2 bargain priced mids this week)

Will hope that Selwood has one more average game this week which allows me 2 downgrades next week and Barrett > Selwood after that.

You can't factor in the bye round though, because he would be missing that regardless so it's just 2 weeks

How often do you trade the best SC scorer for only missing 2 weeks? We all know how tough Rocky is too. It's only 2 weeks

Just gotta hope that you don't run out of trades with a month or so to go I guess, could be copping donuts then otherwise. Let's say someone like Myers would cover Rocky if you hold (he is for me at least), I'd expect a 60 average from him over the next 2 weeks vs a 110avg (give or take) from Dusty, so you gain 100 points. Then Rocky has the bye in R11, Dusty has it R12, so they cancel out. For the last 12 weeks of the season though, assuming Rocky maintains his 123 average, and Dusty maintains his 108 average, that's an extra 15ppg for Rocky each week. 15x12 = 180 points. And a trade saved. And probably extra points with Rocky being a better captains choice (I gained 35 with him VC and not having to stick with Danger this week alone). And we have all seen how good Rocky has been in the back half of each season...123 average could easily become 130.

If you are gonna do Rocky to a premo, and a downgrade (e.g. getting Myers), but could do the Myers downgrade and upgrade another rookie (e.g. SPP) to the same premo, then you may as well do that and hold Rocky. If you don't have the cash to make an upgrade without trading Rocky, or if you think that you'll have plenty of trades in the bank after completing your team, thennnnnnnn maybe it could work.

Apart from the fact you're probably going to have cover in R12 even with Dusty out and you might only have 17 if you hold Rocky in R11 since you need to hold onto certain rookies for bench coverage up until the bye.

Considering JM is also trading in JPK, I'd say he must be doing fine there.

Yeah I should be able to just field 18 or 19 with a trade or 2 in round 11 which is why I don't mind replacing Rocky with a round 12 mid like JPK.

Can sit at M11/F8 till ready because of DPP. Will get rid of Eddy before Balic (and yes I still have him)  :( Another Vice-Captains loophole option as well.   Have to wait though to see teams named.
