Take 1.

Not really happy with this team at all yet can't figure out how to fix it without starting again.

Would like to go a little bit lighter in defence, yet can't see any cheap reliable scoring options outside McGrath.

Ideally would like another Hannebery or Parker in the midfield too.

Hartlett down to Keefe/ Sharenberg
Hoskin Elliot down to Drew or similar
Murphy up to Kennedy
Mcgluggage up to Roughead

Not too sold on any of those.

Keeffe is going to be a 60's player like Nathan Brown was the year before; almost better off with donuts at that point. Sharenberg is no better than a rookie in my eyes. Somebody like Scharenberg or Hampton in D4/5 would free up cash but early scoring comes into question.

Not sure if Roughead will be top 6, but not really willing to take a punt at this point.

Murphy to Kennedy is shuffling a potential keeper to a keeper, but doesn't really make me feel a whole lot better about the team.

Problem is identifying good cheap rookies; don't have enough confidence yet in guys like Drew, Pickett or Bolton to put one on the field.

This gets me more of the structure I want, however means taking a punt with somebody like Hampton or Scharenberg.

Hopefully some cheaper, good defensive rookies will come about between now and the start of the year, feels like roulette at this point in time.

Bully

I wouldn't fear the forward rookies too much, there's a number of state league guys who should see some early action. Eddy will most likely play in Schulz's position. Smith from Melbourne is 27 and was named in the VFL team of the year, he's a good show to get games. Parfitt if selected will be an excellent option, good tank and has some monster possession tallies to his name. Pickett is in his third year now, I'm expecting him to be named round one. Any scores in the 50-60 region should be enough for the first 6 rounds, after which time you can start identifying the form players.

Southstorm

Left it for a bit, but I'm reasonably happy with the structure of this team. Might shuffle deckchairs with a few defensive premiums but otherwise I think I'll be sitting on it.

Not sure about sheils but have thought about shoey more . . Could be a handy pick

Bully

Don't like the Shiels pick, would be better going for a Watson or Murphy.

Ringo

Yeah do not like the Shiels pick. If O'Meara turns into a keeper for you you will have 4 prem mids out for Rd 13 bye as well.
For an extra 50k you could go Murphy or Beams and 75k Jobe Watson.

Also need to be careful Rd 9 with Port and Suns players having bye and this bye is best 22 on field. (Hartlett, Barlow, Swallow and Ryder players of concern).

round 9 bye going to hurt you.    think Nank has proven he can score similar to Ryder and saves you money and not rd9.
Consider Hurley, Hibberd, Mills instead of Hartlett.   Barlow is brave move and think there is better value for same money.  Heppell or Beams

Hawka

All this talk about JOM and TMitchell, people are kind of forgetting Shield, he was tagging last year but i doubt that will be the case this year, he has averaged 96 in the past.
I wont pick him but i take my hat off to anyone ballsy enough to pick him

Southstorm

My logic with Shiels is that I believe he'll go back to 100 with more certainty than I believe Beams or Marc Murphy will go back to 105-110. None of those players will be genuine keepers, but Shiels to me is a cheaper and more reliable stepping stone to a better player. He's not a lock, but that's my rationale behind him.

Southstorm

Not sure I'll use this structure but with all the talk of shared ruck duties I thought I'd see how things look without a clear #1 ruck

Bully

Same structure as my team. Here's the head to heads.

Shaw vs Adams
Treloar vs Barlow
Higgins vs Franklin
Witts vs Hoskin-Elliott

This is a good example of why I'm liking Witts.
