just getting everyones thoughts on brodie grundy as he did take the next step last year is he worth the R2 spot???

eaglesman

Do I think he will go ok? Yes.

Will he beat Gawn or goldy? No

I understand the price difference can help in other areas but imo there are only 3 ways to play the rucks.

Cheap, cheap eg. Sandi, Boyd- (players of this type)

1 top 2 ruck, 1 cheap eg Gawn/goldy and sandi (MY CURRENT PICKS)

Top 2 rucks --- goldy Gawn

Picking someone else at the high price bracket just means you are guaranteed to be giving points away in this position each week.

yep i have goldy and gawn was just puting the feelers out haha

If I can't afford Gawn and Goldy then it will be Gawn and Grundy don't trust Sandi's body and don't wan't to be doing double trades if he gets injured

RaisyDaisy

So many people starting him, yet I'm the odd one out because I don't see the appeal at all

Gawn and Goldy way better, and Sandi way cheaper

Hasn't even entered my thoughts

i am hearing ya RD i will start with gawn and goldy but just wanted to see what people thought on him in terms of taking another big step.

RaisyDaisy

I do believe he will take another big step this year, but I just can't see him overtaking Gawn or Goldy so that's why he's a pass for me

Last 10 games of 2016 he scored 100+ 8 of them and didn't go below 90, so he's given a glimpse now that he can become elite

I reckon 2018 is the year Grundy will start in most teams

Has been on my radar mate
IMO rucks are a grey area because of the rule changes

Tap ruckmen are going to benefit from the rule changes...players like Sauce Jacobs should be looked at closely

Yes Gawn is either your 1st or 2nd pick after getting in Dangerpants - he will be just too hard to get in later and it will take a few trades that by then your out of the running to win the comp
Gawn is not going to disappoint

Myself - I think Grundy maybe a year or 2 from dominating but definitely worth the punt
Will Keefe get a run in the ruck?
Is Cox on the senior list this year?

I'm not totally convinced Goldy will assume the #2 mantle behind Gawn this year - I don't care if I get flamed - its just my opinion
North are a totally different team this year and Goldy is starting to get long in the tooth where injuries will happen like last year
Its easier for a ruckman to get injured - they play a very tough position

Ive locked in Zac Smith as R2 unless he is injured between now and Rd1, I'm very happy with fitness of the last 2 seasons, his ability around the ground , his size and his age bracket to improve his output

I have it as an almost 50/50 call between Grundy and Goldy right now. I could definately see Grundy scoring equal to or slightly better than Goldy this year. North will drop off considerably this year, and if Daw becomes a permanant fixture in the line up he will provide more of a chop out in the ruck than the previous big guys. I can see that costing Goldy 5 points a game easy, and I expect Grundy to improve 5 points per game with his natural development and another preseason. Likely wont lose any ruck time and pies performance will be similar or better than last year.

Daw is injured

It will be interesting to see how Collingwood play Grundy, Keeffe, Moore & Cox....White has been known to pinch hit in the ruck, Cox is rookie listed again
In a year when Buckley is under the pump he maybe changing magnets around a lot - who knows

Yup.

RaisyDaisy

To my surprise, I read yesterday that Keeffe has been training with the forwards all preseason

Looks like they're going with him to support Moore and Reid down back

Ricochet

Super tempted in AF, but can't go past Goldy/Gawn/Sandi in SC

WizzFizz

real quick, i heard somewhere he had a career high 17 taps to adv.

that would mean he had 30sc from all his other stats. how is that possible
