Seem to be getting worse each season haha, hopefully can reverse the trend this year! :P

Put this team together fairly quickly, lemme know thoughts and such.

18k left in the kitty.

Mr.Craig

Okay well, I can see the reasoning behind most of your picks but I do have some reservations.

BV's average has dropped slightly the last 2 years and at 31 it's hard not to see it happening again. The fact his post bye average in 2016 was 78.4 kinda adds credence to that argument. I really feel like you're putting yourself behind the 8 ball ignoring the top 10 backs - Adams, Laird, Dochert, JJ, they are all young and massive sluts. It's worth spend a bit more on your D1.

Not crazy about the Hammer pick, feel like he'll be a little short of top 10 and he's only played a full season once in his career. Port play Syd, Adel and GWS in the first month then they're off to freaking China in Round 8. Who knows what anyone will score in that game! But I can see the positives, just seems like a fair bit of risk in a position where you should want a keeper.

Keefe has only scored 60+ ten times in his CAREER. And he is on your field. Let that sink in for a moment.

As for the mids, I have differing opinions on a couple of guys but they are legitimate picks. The one I'd really question is Hunter. I love the kid don't get me wrong but there's two knocks on him. First, he only averages like 2.5 tackles which hurts him. It means he relies pretty heavily on racking all the time, which admittedly he's quite good at but it really put a cap on his ceiling as far as averages go. 103 seems like the top of his range and if he does that again he will likely be outside the top 12 or even 15 mids.

The most striking part of your team is that complete lack of mid pricers, guns and rooks hasn't been a legit strategy since the rookie prices started going up about 5 years ago. If the likes of Swallow, Scooter, Heeney, Thurlow etc. fire it's going to put you back in the pack. McGrath and McClug sure no worries but spending over 1.1m on Bowes, Brodie, Ainsworth, SPS and Parfitt...they are highly unlikely to rise in value more than some well chosen mid pricers and cheaper rookies. I think 5 rookies is the max you want on your field, it's asking too much of 7 plus Myers and Keefe to give you solid scores each week.

So yeah, structure is the main concern I see with that side as it stands. F1-F3, R1-R2, Treloar and Lloyd all a big thumbs up.

GoLions

Ok, made a few changes after that shredding :P (haha ag MC)

Hunter and Vince were 2 of my last picked due to cash reasons, so happy to swap them over for others. Keeffe was just a placeholder really, a lot of the rookie backs I like are too expensive, hadn't gotten around to checking out midpricers but saw Thurlow was fairly cheap as you suggested, so stuck him in there now. Hammer I'll keep for now, will see what role he's looking likely to play closer to RD1. Reckon he can get back to around a 90-95avg which I'd be more than happy with.

Still not sure what structure I want to go with yet. After having a fiddle, only the 4 premo mids + 2 midpricers. Think Redden might go much better this year, has had some time to settle in with the Iggs now. Laird now at D1 so a bit more stability there I guess. Danger in the mids gives me what I think may be the 4 top scoring mids for the year (reckon Steven can easily go 110+). Brought in WHE up forward over Ainsworth, will track how he goes leading up to round 1 and see if he's guaranteed to be in the Pies 22.

Cheers Craigy! :)

Mr.Craig

Feels stronger already.  ;)

Won't try to talk you out of Redden. I understand there might be an emotional attachment there and you should be as aware as anyone of the pros and cons.

Not a fan WHE but if he gets his body right and is picked Round 1 can't really blame people for picking him.

Man, I should have stuck with Reddo and WHE aha. Here's my team atm:

Made 2 trades already. Joel SMith and David Swallow OUT, Caleb Marchbank and WHE IN. In all honesty, I totally forgot about my AF team and when I checked it after the Thursday game, I realised I still had Thurlow in (who I would have swapped for Marchbank). But, I ended up bringing in McGrath instead, so that gained me a few points I guess :P

Swallow I guess I could keep, but eh, WHE looked good so happy to make the switch. He's the only one that can get me WHE I believe as well. Tempted to grab someone like Hannan or Houston, buuuuuut WHE and Marchbank I'll back to score better, and have better JS, which should hopefully pay off more in the long run.

Mr.Craig

Umm yeah, I ended up picking WHE lol.  :-[

GoLions

Bloody Hartlett late out got me Stewart's score aha, rest was ok apart from Butler and then Steven getting injured. Hibberd to Newman will probably be 1 trade unless Hibberd is back, then Steven to whoever :P (possibly Tmitch)

ANB and Hampton are probably the 2 in the firing line. Only 1k left in the kitty. Thinking something like, ANB out, Nank into the forward line, and a cheapo ruck in. That'd give me 300k to work with, and leave me about 1-2k short of getting Adams hahaha. Yeo, Matty Crouch, and Neale all look like fairly good options, as I can bring McGrath back into my defence.

Thoughts?

Huttabito

ANB and Hampton are the obvious two and getting Nankervis on field this week via a cheap ruck is good.

I would almost go looking at trying to get another gun MID. Marchbank, Otten and  McGrath are holding down D4-6 nicely. Rucks are set and your forwards are pretty good and I imagine you'll upgrade Miller next week to someone like Yeo then to balance the byes?

If Jelwood wasn't in a moon boot I'd almost back him in but either Martin or Neale for mine. Martin has the nicer bye to work around.

I might keep Miller, and play someone like Myers via bringing Barrett forward instead. Will look at going Hartlett to someone like Adams though, as Port will also have the bye, and may not want to trade both. Depends how they go this week I guess :P

I reckon Neale might be the one to jump on this week, cheers mate :)

Neale-Bullen to Soldo and Hampton to Sloane/Merrett?

If Soldo keeps his spot then I may grab him instead. But I'd be over 50k short of Sloaney or Zerrett. Would need to trade Hartlett instead.

PowerBug

I like:
ANB -> Mitch King/Soldo (Go King if the extra $$$ are required to make the upgrade)
Hampton -> Dusty/Shuey/Yeo

P.S. If you want my advice in future please group your premiums together and your rookies together. Having Zorko at M8 just looks wrong :P

Still have another 2 trades left for this week. Already brought in Cousins for Pickett. 279k in the bank. Bringing in Adams seems like the logical option. Could also get someone like Tuohy though, and grab Adams after his bye. Docherty is also someone I'll want in my defence eventually, and probably go Hartlett to Roberton soon enough as well. Also looking at one of Ryan/Brown if named tonight.

So, who should go? Out of Newman, McGrath, Marchbank, Otten, EVW, Barrett, and even Touk I guess. Kinda flowered for R13 atm so trading guys like McGrath and Otten before then will help me, but obviously want as many as possible for this week as well. Think Barrett will drop off with Rocky back, so thinking Barrett and Marchbank out this week maybe, and look at trading Otten and McGrath in 2 weeks for Docherty and someone. And due to my R13 bye, might go Tuohy this week :-X
