Would have been good to start with, but I wouldnt use trades to bring him in at this point.

Murph is a good shot to pile on 100k in 2 weeks, with the other rookies struggling he's the perfect selection at this point in the game.

Yep, I have just traded him in for the expected cash generation he offers and the possibility for M8,  I could get Bont, but be left with little cash and limited chance for cash gen.  The Bont will keep for later imo.

Marchbank, Otten, Witts, WHE, PP, Butler and Houston will all make alot of cash for us Bully.  ;)

These guys look good but when I look at my bench it looks a mess.

This is where my thoughts are opposite

With so much crap rookies on my bench getting rid of them for better cash cows has to be priority number 1

As for Murph making 100k, you and I both know that he has to become a keeper because you're not going to be upgrading him to Bont etc when you have so much more pressing issues and rookies to upgrade etc

Murph will end up being your M8 all year long despite your intentions

That might be a good thing, only time will tell but I just can't continue with Pickett, Parfitt, Barrett, Florent, Hibberd etc all rotting away on my bench and generating flower all money. Cash generation is the main priority now so as much as I want to inject more points into the field now, it will come back and burn me ten fold if I don't get some good cows like WHE, Butler etc

Everyone's aching to get rid of parfitt & pickett, which makes sense for the most part..but why not wait 1 week or 2 to get hayward or balic? I personally have:

Def: Marchbank, hampton, otten, hibbert, stewart
Mids: Barrett, parfitt, pickett
Ruck: Cameron
Fwds: WHE, Taranto, Eddy, Houston

Butler has a huge negative BE so he's the only one I'd consider bringing in atm, but I think I'm happy to wait another week for Hayward who will have a similar BE to butler after this round. In addition, I'll wait another week or two to bring in balic which means parfitt and pickett will have had 1/2 price rises (small price rises, albeit). My point is...why not wait one more week and get a little more cash instead of correctively trading? This argument goes out the window if you don't have at least 2 of WHE, Houston, Witts & butler.

What's everyone's thoughts on that final point? How man of these higher scoring rookies do you think is the bare minimum to start the season with? Seems like some great options coming very soon with newman, berry, hayward, balic & mclugg

Murph is definitely a 20 round investment but in the event he gets injured or suspended he'll provide an easy sideways trade. It's interesting that people are talking about upgrading to Bont yet it's Murphy who is the second best scoring mid this year, even outdoing Pendles. 110+ is looking good and as we all know Murphy has in the past produced super premo numbers. The big difference this year is that he's playing an inside role and looks as fit as a fiddle, it's the most agile I've seen him in 3-4 years.

2 game sample size isn't really enough to go off, considering he hasn't averaged premo numbers in 5 years

FWIW I don't think Murph is a bad pick - I just think cash cow rookies and getting rid of the poor rookies is more important

I've got 5, potentially 8 rookies which are horrible

I plan on getting WHE and Butler this week, and then I still plan on getting Balic, Newman and Hayward if they show enough too

Looks like we were mostly given horrible rookies to start with this year, so a few corrections will be required to generate the required cash to finalise our team

Goosey

I have J.Ramsay and may go a week early on Newman so I can trade out JOM for Murphy, am I crazy?

Only rookie I don't have that I would consider is Houston.

Mat0369

Just a little something about Murphy's average against Essendon. Since 2009 Marc Murphy has averaged 119.5 ppg against the Bombers. The scores are as below

103
124
105
104
111
131
164
120
187
118
98
80
109

I'm expecting Murphy to have another 120+ week. You aren't picking him on a 3 week cycle but he should spike in price and I'd rather him then O'Meara.

Feel like I've done a complete 180 now because I am now back to looking at Ryder to WHE and GHS to Murph LOL

Murph's Round 11 bye actually works well for my side, and getting GHS off the field is also a bonus. I guess they could just be correction trades to my structure, and then I can focus on rookies and cash generation over the following weeks

Might be stuck with all the bad rookies, but the following weeks can be used to correct that I guess. Hayward, Balic, Newman etc are possible options

Don't forget you can't cull the all at once, some will be a slow burn. Pickett just needs a 3 goal bag and he should get moving, ditto Parfitt.

With hocking being picked , will he go to murphy ? Will it make much difference ? Debating between him or tmitch
