Hi all, thoughts on my team?  Mixed it up and fair bit with a few different strategies, inc value and mid pricers, and Set/forget premos/rookies.  Think my team is a bit different to others going around, but im happy with that.

Found it hard to pass up on all the value options in the FWD and MID lines.
In the FWD line, I reckon most, if not all could be top 10 FWDs by end of year.

DEF
T Adams, Bernie Vince, Doch
Trent Macknzie (GC), McGrath, Scharenberg
Luke Ryan (FRE), Ben Long

MID
Rocky, Fyfe, Ablett, Beams
Swallow (GC), Meyers, Pepper Pig, Matthew White
McCluggage, Bowes, Gore

RU
Gawn, Goldy
Strnadica

FWD
Dahl, Heeny, Touk Touk, Bennell, Roughy, Cam Ellis-Yolmen
B Eddy, J Pickett

Backs look good but don't like McKenzie
Mids look a bit thin , no Danger or Pendles and all your guns have all been injury prone
Rucks awesome
FWD's good but ? marks over Bennell and Roughy like the Ellis-Yomen pick

McKenzie is a bit of a placeholder, awaiting JLT form/role. I don't mind him as he averaged 80-90 in 2013-2014, before a dismal couple of years.  I'll just change him to a cheap rookie before R1 if he doesn't look like returning to 2013-2014 form.

Mids, fair call.  Big risk, big reward if it comes off :)  I ran out of money for Danger/Pendles as I went expensive in FWD line (6 players above 300k) due to the immediate value available, and also went with 2 premo rucks.  I'll have to think about this a bit more before the season starts.  I was Danger-less until bye rounds last year and it didn't hurt too much. Very tempted with Sandi, Martin, and Ryder value though.

I'm confident in both Roughy and Bennell getting up for Round 1.  Although if they don't look right in JLT or aren't right for R1, I'll be able to change for a couple of rookies, and upgrade in the midfield.

How many days till JLT?  Too many!

According to a lot on this site there will be a abundance of good rookie FWD's I'm not 100% convinced of this myself just yet but if that is the case then that might be the place to find some cash for your mids

Defence is really strong. (Too strong???) having such a strong defence causes your midfield to be a bit weak. Mckenzie is not a risk worth taking, I was looking at him a month or two ago and he has had a role change which has caused him to score and play less (KK is better).

No Pendles and Danger is very scary. Just think that your missing out on probably the two safest captain/vice captain picks each week. Not really against any of the picks you have made but think you should get one or preferably both of Danger and Pendles. (Would pick Danger/Pendles over Ablett and upgrade White to the other)

Rucks are perfect.

Like your forward line as all could be top 10 picks come seasons end. One thing to consider is the forward line will have an abundance of rookies come round one (more so than other lines) but don't have any major concerns here as I think Dahl and Macrae are the only two that will defintely be top 6 forwards come seasons end.

Nice team overall but would try and get Danger/Pendles in your team.

fair points thanks all.  really keen to get Danger, Pendles, Gawn and Goldy into the team.  Something has to give, and unsure what at this stage.

Reckon I have a few VC/C options there, even if some are injury prone.

made some adjustments, version 2 of 50 I reckon before Round 1 :)

DEF
T Adams, Bernie Vince, Doch
McGrath, Scharenberg, Luke Ryan (FRE)
Ben Long, T Stewart (GEE)

MID
Rocky, Fyfe, Ablett, Beams, Pendles
Swallow (GC), McCluggage, Meyers
Matthew White, Powell-Pepper, Bowes

RU
Goldy, Sandi
Strnadica

FWD
Dahl, Heeny, Touk Touk, Roughy, Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Bennell
B Eddy, J Pickett

I like the defence, only concern I guess is Docherty not replicating his 2016 form, but would expect him to be a top 5-10 defender regardless

Mids are very very risky. Pendles the only lock there to play basically every game, rest have all had issues in the past regarding games missed. Would want to turn one of Ablett/Beams/Rocky into someone like Danger, JPK, Hannebery, etc. Rookies are good.

Rucks fairly standard, tempted to go with Sandi myself, reckon the no 3rd man up rule will help him heaps.

Also starting Touk, reckon he's gonna have a huge year. Is that Harley Bennell at F6? Does that all fit in the salary cap? Insane if so haha. However, I reckon you've gone too strong up forward. Sooo many good rookies and stuff that can start forward. Could drop maybe 2 of Heeney, Bennell, Roughy and bring Bowes forward, also whack Ainsworth in your forwards, and hopefully have enough cash for an elite mid I reckon :)

I'm confident Doch will go close to his 2016 form, and will definitely be top 6 defender.  Don't mind paying slight overs for that security.  Plenty of the other premos from last year I'm not certain on, due to possible role changes (Shaw v Z Williams, JJ v Bob Murphy v Boyd) or they are old (Montagna, Simpson, Burgonye, Hodge) or both.  Laird, I'm still not convinced on so waiting to see how his scoring continues (coming from a Crows fan).  Gonna wait and see who the other top 6 DEFs are before getting them later in season.  Confident the 3 I've selected will be almost certain top 6-10.

Don't mind the risk v reward in the MIDs due to the fantasy pigs that they are.  If a risk fails, quick upgrade to Danger and I've only wasted 1 trade.  They present value and potential to get a head start if they all come off.

Yeah, fits into salary cap (0.6k over actually) so with a small rookie downgrade (to a 102k guy) I'm under budget.  Obviously only version 2, and if there are plenty of rookies that are FWD only, I'll look to swing them into the team at the expense of one of the FWDs.  Really like the value that my current F1-F6 provide, so will be hoping to run most rookies through MID line (on field and bench).

Thanks for the feedback.  Cheers

I actually really like this team.

Three strong defenders (aware that you are paying overs for Docherty but he will be a top 6 defender no doubt)

Bit harsh saying you only have one lock in my opinion. obviously danger would be ideal but Fyfe and Rocky should be top 10 and Ablett and Beams could be anything. Swallow is obviously a good choice also.

Rucks are standard.

With the forward line being so hard to predict this year I feel like midpricers or a lot of rookies is the way to go. Like all your picks as they could all be top 10-15 picks come seasons end and there's not too many super premiums that you're missing out on (maybe Macrae) not too sure on CEY but like all the other picks.

Helps me think I'm on the right track.
Lots of JLT to see before players are locked into the team

Cheers

Just watch how Ablett is used in the JLT - Expect him to be used more in forward line this year with barlow running the mids.

Like the structure a few players I am wary of namely Touk mainly because worried the inclusion of Swallow, Barlow and Hanley may effect his point scoring.
Also 50/50 on Heeny as not 100% sure he will fill Mitchells role with Lloyd and mills also vying.

As I advise all newcomers it is your team, think through the advices given and go with your gut when making final decision

PureSwag

Nice team but the most rriskest team I've seen on FF so far.

Def: No Fault like it thoses rooks I think will start rd1 but will need to see.

Mid: One to many risk like GoLions said need to get one of the top 4 mid in for our of your risky mid.

Ruc: Same like mine  just watch Sandi in the JLT Cup.

Fwd: Touk Touk will find it hard to get touches and you should get someone like a ryder who can go ruck if needed.

I like your team just a couple of errors.

Version 3 :)  Would be keen on any feedback.
I'm worried my team is looking like too many others now though, with both structure and selections, but I feel confident that its heading in the right direction.

Some rookies are placeholders.

Deliberate guns/rookies in DEF line.
Guns/rookies with a couple of value selections in MID.
Keeper/value selection in RU
FWDs, 1 def gun, 2 guns if goes to plan, plus rookies

overall 13 keepers, 8 to upgrade

Shaw, T Adams, Montagna
McGrath, Hampton, Griffen Logue
(T Stewart (GEE), Luke Ryan (FRE))

Danger, Pendles, Rocky, Fyfe, Joel Selwood
Beams, Swallow (GC)
Petrevski-Seton
(Meyers, Powell-Pepper, J Graham (RI))

Goldy, Sandi
(Strnadica)

Dahl, Ryder, Bennell
McCluggage, Ainsworth (GC), J Pickett
(B Eddy, S Bolton (RI))

Money Shot

Looks like a pretty solid team to me man. Just wait until JLT

Don't over think it mate, remember its your team, you don't have to react to every piece of advice!
Though in saying that most people will push you towards a more guns and rookies team because history shows that midpricers suck! I know all yours are injury discount players but with that many the risk/reward is massive!

As far as having as having a similar team as everyone else, trust me its not that big a deal. In 2015 I started the year with 24 players the same as the eventual winner, he ended up 1300 points ahead of me by the end of the year :)
